Hi Dutch mamas

I plan to attend the Montessori Europe conference in Amsterdam from October 26-28. I was wondering 1) if anyone is going to the conference and b) if you want to have a fellow mothering-mama on your couch for the weekend to help me make it a lower-cost trip? I will fly in Friday morning at 8, be at the conference all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, then leave Sunday night at 7pm. Still even though I don't have much time it would be nice to meet a like-minded friend in Amsterdam. I'd be happy to pay something and also extend the offer of staying on my couch whenever you want to come to Prague! Let me know if you're interested.

The address of the conference venue is
Montessori College Oost
Polderweg 102, 1093 KP Amsterdam

In the event I don't stay with any of you, I'd love some info on that neighborhood and the address of a good hostel near there.

Thanks a lot! sphinx

geez... over 20 views and not one person can at least tell me of a decent hostel?

Unfortunately, I don't know Amsterdam at all (we're in Utrecht), but the Lonely Planet for the Netherlands always lists really good cheap options like hostels. Good luck!

I know several people from the Dutch tribe that also live here in Amsterdam are away for the summer.
Our couch is unfortunately taken by our (large) dog, but I'll definitely think and see if I can come up with a good place to stay here.

I'm also in the Utrecht area and I don't get to Amsterdam much.

Hi sphinx!

we live in amsterdam but will be very busy that weekend as we'll be going to thailand OCT 29 or 30...
and our house is very small, so it will be very hectic and chaotic already that weekend, I'm afraid... so sorry, you can't stay with us...

also,I don;t know any hostels but I second the lonely planet to look for them...

hopefully anyone else will be able to help you better!

good luck!

Angela

HI sphinx,

I haven't been thinking (and thus not reacting) when reading your first (and subsequent posts)....of course there is a spare bed at our place! We are not really in an adjacent neighbourhood, but there is a direct tramline from us to your conference, and it seems it takes just less than half an hour door to door from us to there. Haven't checked with DH, but usually he is o.k. with any visitor I'm inviting
