I'm just curious to see how many of us there are who have been on this road for longer than a year. I want to get to know you!
I am Sarah. I have one boy who is 4.5.
We started trying in Dec 2001. I haven't counted cycles for a long time cuz it got too depressing.
I'm glad to have this forum too! Even if I often just lurk:)

I'm here! But you probably already knew that. We are ttc again after a 4-year break and one adopted child. We ttc'd for four years before.

I'm here. We've been ttc on and off for 9 years. We adopted our only ds just over a year ago and are about to turn in paperwork to get started with adoption #2. We also plan to try ttc, but not very aggressively. I get too stressed out and depressed during intense medical ttc, so I plan to try a more relaxed approach -- try to track my charts, maybe do some clomid when I feel inspired to go there, and take a few helpful herbs. Anyway, that's just a little about me. :)

We started TTC Goo in 1999. She was born in 2002. We had one loss during that time. We were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility". We eventually went with FSH injections with an intrauterin insemination. I released 7 eggs and we have 1 beautiful girl.
(this is still very low odds).

We've been told that we have about a 5% chance of getting pregnant every month instead of the 20% that normal couples have.

We just started TTC #2. In 6 months, we will visit the RE again and I would like to start immediately up with the FSH again.

I am here!! I have been seriously ttc-ing since Sept 2001, and have had eight losses since then. They finally found a fibroid that most likely was interfering with implantation. They took it out, so now I am hoping that I will get pregnant with a keeper one of those days.

I have been ttc for almost 2 yrs (2 mc's). Sure I'm bumping up against old eggs (per RE). We will be looking into donor embryos, if we don't conceive in the next 6 mos. or so.

Would love to hear from other natural mamas that are looking to this option....never thought I would do this? Time changes your perspective.......

My dH and I have bio children <together>, but would like to expand our family even more

Welcome 2nurturemore! I am glad you found Mothering too. I know I was very glad when I ran across it awhile back. I had felt like the odd ball:p It's nice to know I am not the only one trying to do what my heart tells me. (notice I said "trying"!)

Aw thanks, RasJane!:) I needed that today.

I started charting my cycles last month after a break of about four years. Before when I charted for a couple of years, I was not ovulating. My temps were like jagged mountain peaks, but never a clear thermal shift. But my cycles have been regular for the past few years, so I really though I was ovulating now. Last month I had a beautiful biphasic chart (which I had never seen before:eek), and I was so excited. This month, however, I have just finished five days of ewcm (and am back to dry now), and had ovulation pain on two different days (one day was really strong and lasted all day long), but 8 days of OPK's have shown NO LH surge, and there has been no temp rise. I'm on CD 16 or something like that, and it's a little bit of a setback. I really don't think I'm going to O this month. I had all the signs, but they've come and gone and nothing. So all this time I thought I was O'ing and I'm having to face the idea that maybe I'm not after all, or at least not every month. :(

But I'm not down yet! I really believe deep in my heart that I am capable of conceiving if I have the right intervention. This just reminded me that there probably will have to be intervention after all.

We've been ttc #1 since 9/01. Some days it's hard to believe it's been so long and other days it feels like I've been ttc my entire life....
I came to MDC thinking that I would get to know some other women on the ttc board , which would soon become a group of mamas to be pg buddies with and then mamas to infants, and so on. Little did I know that I was joining an invaluable support group that would be with me through a fertility journey that has been incredibly emotional.:love
Laurel~ Have you noticed that it is one side that you o from? I usually ovulate only every other month (from the right side). Maybe you've got one ovary more active than the other?

Hi, beachmommy here!
We started TTC in 1998 and had our dd in 2001 with the help of injectible meds and IUI. Have been ttc #2 since Sept. 2002, had an ectopic pg in Dec. 2002, and we are now back in treatment. Just finished our first injectible cycle and are waiting to find out if we're pg (took a blood test this morning). Doc will call any minute but I really really don't think I'm pg.

My wife and I just started trying to have a child around a year ago. We're now going the fertility
route; I'm just trying to get familiar with this very involved process. Our prognosis looks good--
the only really big issue is that we're both a little over 40. We've elected NOT to go the full-drug
route, except for progesterone and baby aspirin.

Basically, I'd like to learn as much as I can.

Welcome RJK! It's so nice to see dads-to-be on the boards too! If you decide to adopt (I highly recommend it!) send me a message and I'll give you all the info! We spent 10 years trying to conceive (unexplained infertility) so it can be a long road. China is one country that actually prefers older parents (smart!) so if you have any questions about adoption as an option to becoming a parent, just let me know.

Well, thanks for the nice words and making me feel welcome. Adoption
is certainly a possibility somewhere down the road. If we do decide on that,
it's nice to know there are people to consult and ask for advice.

We're beginning another cycle of trying. The worst for me is that at the end, my wife has
to go get a blood test. I suffer more than she does with that--but it feels sort of awful
to watch her get poked with a needle.

Started ttc in 1999 in a previous marriage. Took a break (obviously), divorce; new relationship. Got pregnant in mid
I have had fertility treatment in the past, but unfortunately 2004 but had a stillbirth at 30 weeks. Resumed ttc and took a break for most of 2007; resumed this year. I didn’t do much for me. It actually made me feel worse. I got pregnant naturally which is a good sign.

I have PCOS, but manage it with diet and lifestyle. I ovulate on my own now DP’s sperm is great. Now I think its all about timing, but may need to seek alternative assistance if it doesn’t work out.

ETA: I'm 29 if that matters ;)

We started ttc #1 in Oct 03, found that in addition to my irregular cycle we have some pretty major mf issues, did IVF with ICSI Jan 05, BFP, but m/c. Did a FET in August 05, had my dd in May 06!!! Started ttc #2 as soon as the stitches healed.:wink

Planning to try IVF with ICSI again in probably April. I am weaning at the moment, and have to have at least one month with no bf before they will even take baseline blood work.

I am 35. And a half.

So we had been TTC for about 9 months at the time and I woke up from surgery to find out that we could only conceive with IVF. It was a shock.

We had a failed IVF in December and are now in the 2WW for our first FET. We have no more frozen embies after this so if I am not pg, we will have to do another fresh cycle. We would probably do one more fresh cycle and hopefully have a couple of frozen out of that too and then maybe move on to adoption.

I am a doula and childbirth educator so my career is being around pg women. I would like a chance to experience the things that I help other families with. I know several local mamas from this board and I am the only non-mama. It is tough and I feel like an outcast sometimes. :gloomy:

Started TTC in 1998. After finding out eventually that DH has CBAVD, we did our first TESA/IVF/ICSI cycle in 2004, which resulted in our DD. We also had a failed IVF in December/Jan and will be starting another cycle in either March or April depending on schedules.

I'm here. We took over 5 years ttc to get ds -- ended up using Repronex injections to conceive him. Had been trying to control my PCOS with diet, supplements, and homeopathic remedies, but it didn't get me pg. Decided to finally go see an RE again since I was almost 42, the max age they will take you. Saw one on my 42 bday back in December. She had me do the clomid challenge test (which I passed), but my lining was thin. We tried femara, same problem. So it looks like, as soon as AF starts, we will be moving on to Follistim. Oh boy!

I'm here. We've been ttc#2 for 3.5yrs. I have pcos, dh has several male factors. I'm upping my dose of femara next month, and we're hoping to do an iui in the next month or two. On my first cycle of femara we also did an iui (back in Aug 07), and were able to get pg, but mc at 8w. Lately I haven't responded to much of anything, so I might be moving on to injectables soon. Or tossing in the towel, depending on my frame of mind. I'm also taking metformin, though I can't really see that it's doing anything.

Now we've been ttc since she was born (20 months). My first RE visit was last week. We're on the roller coaster again.

Anyone else notice the sig's in the first page of responses? Some of them have had children since they first posted. Kinda gives ya some hope. :love

Eeek! I didn’t even realize that was from 2003! How did I even find that thread to post on it?

I think hope is relative depending on how long you’ve been ttc.

I'm here as well. TTC #1 and voila! IF. Didn't see that coming. This would be month 16 but we're taking it off becuase I am having polyp surgery (simple polypectomy did not get it). I have low progesterone which my RE thinks is caused by an ovulation prob., though I O fine on my own and usually early. He says I have a hypothalamus dysfunction and my brain is esp. resistant to giving my body certain triggering messages about hormones. Go figure. I wasn't too responsive to the Clomid, so after this month we'll double the Clo, check my Prog. and if it's still not good I guess move onto injectables. As it is now, I'm told I have a 1-2% chance of conceiving naturally. Anyone else told such slim things when your prob. is still a little vague?

I'm here as well. Going into month 14 of TTC. No officially diagnosed problems, yet, but I am in the process of being screened for Cushing's Disease or PCOS.

I was thinking, even before barose found this thread, about starting and Infertility version of "the one thread". Maybe like a monthly thread? Maybe I'll start it and see what happens? :thumb
