View Full Version : Montessori Toys...I mean Tools...
I am looking to make some of the classic Montessori toys/tools for dd to use at home. I am making the boards with ties, buckles, zippers etc.
I am cusious as to what toys your children use in Montessori school that they really seemed to love the most?!
Thanks for your input!:p

I was a Montessori-raised child. There is an awesome book called "montessori in the home" or something like that...do a search on amazon with montessori and home and you should find something...it has instructions on how to make everything. I liked the smell and sound jars.

There was a post somewhere about how to make the playstands and curtains cheaply and easily and easy toput away. i think it was in homeschooling or Crafts. It involved Martha Stewart so maybe you should do a search on her (here that is).
I am intrested to know what other things there are that are easy to make. The board talked about in the first post sounds really cool. Both my girls would get a kick out of that.

First search ebay, then check out the playschool6 egroup doing montessori at home. Try Michael Olaf website, it is wonderful.
We do Natural Structure at home, I have some info bookmarks

Our kids love the silver polishing , plant misting and wiping, flower arranging trays, also transferring water as mentioned by spoon or by sponge. Pouring water and beans, using tweezers to field corn are also very satisying. One thing the kids enjoy at that age is taking one or two of the sand paper letters, for example A, and B and placing them on a tray with a small sack of items to sort by beginning letter sound ( button, bow, box, ball, apple, etc..) Some of the well known items like the pink tower, spindles for counting out, number rods with number cards for math are very poplar, also sound boxes to shake and match and the sensorial items that age love. A feel and find bag to match fabric textures or shapes, knobbed puzzles are good at preschool age too. I think ebay has some sandpaper numerals and letters listed. You may try this link for some photos~

Please post again if you want info on finding something in particular.

BTW Playstands are Waldorf items if you are hunting for them by keyword

Hi all,
I am a homeschooling Montessori mom and sell Pink Towers (these are natural finish though and not painted pink but are the same size as the original) and an alternative to the cylinder blocks. Email me if anyone is intrested with more info.
