I had a reduction nearly 11 years ago. I had a total of 5 pounds removed and I have an anchor scar. From what I am learning from my very intelligent friend who's also pregnant, had the surgery over 10 years ago and is also a nurse, tells me that I have a really good chance that I will be able to breastfeed normally. I am so happy to learn this because it's been a huge issue for me.
I am curious if any other mamas have been successful, or any other first time mamas who are in the same position as me.
thanks!

I have not been in your situation myself, but I've heard good things about this book: http://www.amazon.com/Defining-your-Own-Success-Breastfeeding/dp/0912500867
I hope that helps, and good luck with nursing. That's wonderful news that you may be able to nurse normally!

Another good resource is BFAR (http://www.bfar.org/) - lots of good info there.

I had a reduction 6 years ago, had the anchor cut, had 4 pounds removed. I've been able to EBF both boys! I also recommend BFAR, and I love http://www.breasthealthonline.org/cgi-bin/mwf/forum_show.pl as well!
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have - and I just wrote a blog entry about it on my blog (likned in my sig) sory for typos - baby at keyboard....
Hi! Thanks so much for the info. I've perused BFAR before, and I think I"ll go and buy the recommended books today.

I know a woman who had a reduction and she had no troubles lactating. Hope that's the case for you!
