An off-line friend is looking for an AP-style parents group with whom to hook up. Anyone out there with whom I can put her in touch? SHe has a 1 month old dd and could really use some AP support!
Thanks.

I just moved to Pelham from Brooklyn and am desperate to meet other AP moms. I have a 2 yr old and a 2 month old so things are hectic. I'm really looking for other moms to hang out with this summer in th backyard or field trips to Saxon Woods pool or Bronx Zoo (just some ideas), etc.. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested in meeting.

Hi folks... I'm still out here. One nice lady in Larchmont tried contacting me and unfortunately I lost her contact info! I hope she can re-send. Meanwhile, let me mention that I am also a recent transplant-ee from Brooklyn -- and I miss it!

Hello Westchester
I just moved from Westchester to Putnam last year. I have a 14 y.o. ds and a 11 y.o. dd, due to have #3 in 2 weeks. With my 1st I had never even heard of attachment parenting, but it seemed to be my instinct (although not that of my then husband). With #2, I came closer to true attachment parenting, with a few consessions to her dad. This one is with a new husband, we'll see how he does.LOL. There was a wonderful attachment parenting group in Rockland CO when dd was little that I attended. It was great, people came from all over. I have lost contact with those group of women, but would love to find if they or another group exists.

Re: AP Parenting in Westchester:
As far as I know, there isn't an API group or anything similar in Westchester. Lower Westchester's LLL (the one based in Yonkers) did their enrichment meetings on AP the last couple of times though. I think Mid-Westchester (White Plains) does this too... and you can definitely meet some AP moms from these two groups! Both groups' contact info is listed on LLLI's site on the local groups pages.
If you have the time, you might want to take a drive over to Nyack (Rockland) too, b/c there are some AP types, and you might be able to find a parent's group listed on a bulletin board in the health food stores. Or ask the midwives. :) They're right on S. Main St, I think (they are listed in the back of 'Mothering' magazine too) (Anyway, Nyack is just plain fun to hang around, IMO).
As for 'Mothering,' you can get it at Barnes & Noble on Central Ave in White Plains and in Scarsdale / Yonkers, and you can also get it in Mrs. Green's on Central, and I think the one in Larchmont too. I always get mine from B & N, but now my husband gave me a subscription!! :love
Oh, and you might try the library. You may find a mom's group listed there, or find a mom browsing the same books. In Westchester's Library System, you can have any book from the system delivered to your home library (which is good, b/c Westchester's pretty big, ha ha)... there are a surprising amt. of AP-style books available, esp. on birth. I used to bring home piles of books.
