Has anyone else started getting this? I am worried that my gums may be beginning to receed a bit and I am trying to decide whether to go to the Dr. now or wait until the babe is born. I can't imagine wanting to go to the dentist with a 2 week old at home.

It's probably just your hormones making them sore. I would wait until after the baby is born and see if the soreness goes away. I can't tell you how incredibly sore my gums were the first month or so after I got pregnant. Ugh!

I have noticed in the last week that I have a lot more bleeding when I floss which I know is common during pregnancy. But if I suspected they were actually receeding-like a sign of a periodontal disease, I'd go in now-less hassle than with a new little one. Athough the receptionist at my dentist office offered to watch ds when I had to go in when he was small!
ETA: I hate hate hate going to the dentist and I tend to go in at the first sign because of my pain paranoia-so keep that in mind when reading my post :)

floss a lot and I take CoQ10 (about 60-120 mg daily) and it helps a lot (OK in PGCY and BF)... I ma not sure of the ruling on the type of dental work you need during PG but a good environmental (read mercury free) dentist would be able to guide you.. hope you feel better soon

I also realized tonight that my vitamin B issues can cause gum problems as well. I am vit. B deficient and can't seem to get enough. My tongue is having issues too. I will pick up some of the CoQ10 and see if that helps.

I'm having an extra cleaning done. They take this really powerful water jet and flush out my gums- it feels SOOOO good. They also gave me some mouth rinse to help with the bleeding and swelling. It's normal, but if they swell and you get food trapped in there, you get big problems. I have tooth issues anyway, so I'm extra careful. A good vibrating toothbrush helps too.

This must sound crazy but my teeth are itchy. I mean, I guess it is my gums between my teeth like I have food stuck there or something, but I don't. I am flossing and flossing because it is the only way I can get relief.
