View Full Version : Last 10-12 Weeks Ladies: Get your game face on! (Motivation/Support thread)
DeChRi 08-27-2007, 09:53 AM I am noticing that in this homestretch I kind of kick into survival mode. Feel blech physically, can't shave right:lol , and all that stuff. I kind of just kick by each day till baby gets here. Reality is that this is the time to get cracking....exercise, good good extra clean diet to make sure energy and health is optimized come birth time, and all that stuff.
In an attempt to be pro-active I am going to get my game face on for this birth and anyone that would like to join me (and can ignore my sports analogies above) is welcome.
For the next 10 weeks till baby I will:
-Get my RRL Tea and vitamins (iron esp) daily
-Cut out refined sugar that I rationalize eating now that I feel like a horse anyway
-Cardio at 5:45am before work, 4x/week and keep up with lifting 3x/week
-Daily kegals and other birth-prep exercises
-Explore music/acupuncture/meditation option to get brain settled down
-Consume 1 gallon water/tea daily to keep my colon happy :)
What will you do?
yogachick79 08-27-2007, 09:56 AM Oh boy, thanks for starting this! I am going nuts with making lists and NOT seeing things happen as I would like them to. So I will list my small things and avoid thinking about the bigger ones for now :lol ...
* I will take my iron 2x daily
* I will drink my preg support tea until 34 wks and then switch to plain RRL tea
* I will start taking something to avoid the Vit K hospital treatment at 34 wks
* I will walk 30-45 minutes daily min (easy because I am the dog walker in our house)
* I will try to eat better daily and get in good protein at each meal
* I will NOT stay up late cleaning and doing other things, I will rest
* I will continue to see my chiro once a week for comfort and labor support
* I will get in at least 60 oz of water while at work, and extra at home (thanks for the reminder)
pixiesmommy 08-27-2007, 10:00 AM I'm going to work on babyproofing some today. I'm going to switch out the towels from the upper shelves in the linen closet to the bathroom under-sink cabinets (where the medicine is currently stored.) This will help keep our meds from getting moisture in them too. I don't want to have to do baby latches in a lot of places, so I'm trying to minimize our risky areas.
I have to latch the linen closet, but I think I will do this with a hook and eye. Even though I'm putting the meds up high, we have a hole cut in the bottom of the closet for a makeshift laundry chute, which a small child could fall right through! Yikes!
We live in a split level too, so we have to get some gates up on the stairs. Have to order these though, as no one sells the ones we need, since we have iron railing instead of wood. Ugh. What a pain.
Going to also get rid of all the cleaners unless they are an absolute "can't live without" and put them on the high shelves in the laundry room.
Other than that, I have to discipline myself to make some RRL tea and start drinking it. Hopefully after tomorrow MW visit, I can regulate my diet a bit and get some help with my thrush issues.

GinaRae 08-27-2007, 11:00 AM I have closer to 14 weeks until I hit the 40 week mark at 11/30. But still, I need to get my game face on and I guess I am pathetic enough to need the extra 4 weeks!
I've started guzzling more water and taking down a food journal with approx protein intake. I need to get out to walk the dog every morning.
I need to get the house in order, take all my supplements and liver cleansers, start drinking heavy quantities of RRL, and much much more.
GearGirl 08-27-2007, 11:34 AM It sounds so soon when you put it like that! I have about 14 weeks as well, and in some ways it seems soooo long, but then it is only 14 weeks!!!
I will start taking iron
I will do better about getting exercise on my own especially with school starting in two days!
I will eat better
DeChRi 08-27-2007, 12:12 PM Awesome! I have a To Do list a mile long too, but am trying to keep it in perspective and do everything I can to make my body and mind as healthy as possible these last couple months! Ironically, I had a great lunch and now feel like puking..lol. GO figure.
maisiedotes 08-27-2007, 12:14 PM :yikes: Panic time! DH and I were talking... I am 27 weeks today so I am not in the 30's yet. I have alllll the time in the world, right? WRONG! I am going to be scheduled to deliver (as far as I know) at 38 weeks, giving me ELEVEN weeks to go. OMG. I am not ready. The baby's room is not ready. We don't have a crib mattress. The house is a disaster. The baby will be eating spiders in the night if I don't get my act together! :dizzy: I have alot to do- both personally AND around the house. I wanted to get my bedroom and the dining room painted... where did the time go?
Curlita 08-27-2007, 02:15 PM Ack! I am making progress on my list of things to do, but feel like I am neglecting some of the me-stuff I should be doing. I've been slacking on my prenatal yoga and exercise in general, and my eating has been getting a bit, shall we say, crappy.
So! My goals:
--yoga 3X a week
--walk and/or swimming 1X a week
--5 plus fruit and veg every day
--GET ENOUGH SLEEP! I have been awful about staying up late, rambling around the house, and then squeaking through my day on 4-5 hours of sleep. Note to self: a) you are not 18 anymore and b) sleep now while it's actually an option!
yogachick79 08-27-2007, 03:10 PM Erica, I am the exact same way with sleep, which is why it is on my list too... As for the yoga thing, I need to be MUCH better about that over the next few weeks. Kind of goes with making time for myself while there is still time to be had :lol
