Hi!

This Friday ny co-worker will take his 20 months son to the ped office to have him vaccinated with his last round of vaccines before school age (i guess it'll be Polio/difteria/tetanus/a-pertussis/hib and maybe something else :eek -prevnar or junior flu-) She is planning to bring him to the office after the ped visit and suggested I bring my 27 months ds as well, so they can play. My first thought was "what a great idea"... However, what do you think? Could her boy pass some of the nice things he will be injected into my child? If there's any possibility of that I can politely say I'm full of pendings and don't have time to spare caring for ds...(which, OTOH, it's sadly true !)

Thanks for your input.

Only the live virus vaccines are an issue and at 20mo who knows what she did at 12 or 15 months.MMR and Varivax are the live ones. I don't think even then it is an issue hours after the shot, maybe a few days/week later he would be spreading the virus around a little. Poor kid.If I vaxed I wouldn't take my kids out afterwards to play.I mean what if he has a reaction? I would want then home to rest.

thanks for your reply, Sara. I agree with you, poor kid. Hope everything goes smooth for him.

Thanks Trabot, I'll read that thread as well as the others link you've posted. Moreover, i've been thinking about my question, and came back to me as a quite stupid one. After all, it's impossible and a bit arrogant to try to control with whom our childern hung out with...

Warm regards and thanks again,
I
