Hello Mamas,

I just found out about this great cause yesterday from a doula with the Childbirth Collective:

"Our vision of creating a safe place supporting single moms and teens through pregnancy, labor and beyond is on the horizon. Our clients will receive (at no charge) pre-natal education, doula support, post-partum care and support groups. Be a part of creating this exciting new vision by helping us raise funds for our new non-profit organization to purchase a home in Anoka from which to operate."

Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction
Thursday, July 31, 2003, 5pm-8pm
Reidel Farm Estate, 5100 East River Road, Fridley, MN 55421

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 per plate (registered or postmarked by July 15, Ages 5 & under FREE).

If you are unable to attend, all donations are welcome. We are also looking for donations of items and/or cash for the silent auction.

It is our belief that if we nurture and empower
these families, they will in turn nurture and
empower their children, our future.

THANK YOU for allowing miracles to occur!

Accomplishing Our Mission

SUPPORT GROUPS & DOULA SERVICES: We will form support groups for pregnant teens and single moms. Each new mother will have a mentor (another young mom) and the benefits of having a doula for their pregnancy, birth and post-partum.

EDUCATION: Since teens and single moms seldom attend pre-natal and birthing classes, we will hold these classes at Everyday Miracles. Additionally, we will offer breastfeeding support.

CREATING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY: We envision weekly dinners (incorporating nutritional meals on a budget) offering support and the sense of community. We plan to maintain a large garden, allowing us to include fresh foods as well as canning and freezing activities. For those moms who desire, we will hold Blessing Way Ceremonies to further enforce the sense of community. It is our belief that if we celebrate life with these young families, they can be empowered to parent successfully.

CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT: We will set up a maternity clothing closet, as well as a baby clothing and equipment swap.

RETURNING THE GIFT: As our services will be at low or no cost to mothers, we will ask that all women who receive these services either mentor a young mom or help in the daycare center so they can have a sense of giving back to the community.

Amy, what a cool project! I wish it wasn't needed -- as in everyone already received that level of care!
