ARGH!!! I am SOOOOOO tired today. My DD (2) is still nursing and usually wakes up at least once a night, sometimes more. It's been hard because I've noticed a decrease in my supply and have a little nipple pain, so I try to cuddle her to sleep instead, but she completely throws down. I tell her there's no milk and she cries, "Just a little bit!!!" When I try to unlatch her, after she's pretty much emptied me, she flips out. I can't have her chewing on me all night. I get no sleep and it HURTS!!! I nurse her as much as I can to keep what little supply I have left. I don't mind waking a couple times, as long as the session is short. Anyone have any ideas??? I've got to get some rest!!!

I don't have much advice but just thought I would show solidarity. I am having the exact same issues! We have been switching up our bedtime routine lately, partly with our encouragement, but also following DS's lead as he has only wanted to nurse to sleep maybe 1-2 nights a week lately. He nurses, then we say good night to the milky, then his dad walks him around and sings in the dark, and puts him on our bed alllllmost asleep, where I am already half passed out (gotta love early pregnancy!). He falls asleep the rest of the way on his own. This is huge for him, we are very proud :-) To our amazement, he slept all night without milky (and only a couple of wakeups) for three nights in a row this weekend! But then last night, 4:40 am he was up crying for milky, and up again at 5:20. Sigh.
I really want him to self-wean and would be glad to tandem nurse, but I am secretly wishing he would self-wean, like, tomorrow! It is really hurting (his latch is crap lately, too, which has never been an issue before but now is since I'm so sore). Last night was like turning back the clock two years to when he was only a couple of weeks old and nursing was going horribly. I don't really want to go back there!!

Lots of hugs and sympathy here. I am not nursing anyone but my nipples are sore most of the time now. I hate to wear most anything on my top as the cloth rubbing against them hurts. My DH is also dissapointed because my nipples are his favorite toys and I told him to keep hands off. It is taking a lot of restraint on his part. :lol But I get an evil I will kill you look any time he gets near them so he is doing well so far. I just hope that they arent sore like this the whole time I'm preggers.

I know my girl is probably just "trying" to build up the supply in vain. I keep telling her there will be more milk someday. I really don't want her to wean, but also don't want to be this zombie mama for 7 1/2 more months!!! Plus, I tend to get very cranky at night now, and I really don't want her to see that side of me! : )
Thanks for the advice and the support! Hang in there everybody going through it with me! : )
