Has anyone experienced this? Over the past few weeks (I am 19 weeks tomorrow), I have had sudden, sharp, stabbing pains several times. They feel like they are angled from my uterus and hit squarely on the inner side of my rectum. I know what round ligament pains feel like and where they occur -- this doesn't resemble them. They make me double over and say "OW" out loud. They pass just as quickly. Could it be kicking or is there a round ligament around there that I am unaware of?

I think I have something similar. I asked my Doc about it and they checked around a little more during the U/s and said they couldnt' see anything wrong that it's probably just stretched muscles from the last baby having a hard time with the additional weight. You've got the exact time frame between kids as I do too!

I always figured that particular pain is from gas, it's in such a weird place because everything's in a weird place. That or a muscle cramp in the rectum, it is a muscle after all. I have such weird pains right now, it's hillarious the things I yell "OW!" at!

I've been reading Hypnobirthing, and I really agree with everything she says, but I do think there ARE some pains in birth, like weird pains like that one. I know if yo usit and think "OH this pregnancy is terrible, I'm in so much pain" that the pain will only get worse, but at that sharp moment, that's physiological! I just try to remind myself that my body is amazing and is doing crazy things to make room for a whole new life. That way it has a good spin on it. I'm trying to be positive!
