I was peeking around in the April DDC and they have some trimester swaps going on. I was wondering if May Mamas wanted to do swaps too. And if so what kind of swapping should we do here. The bead swaps sounds cool. Any other suggestions?

I second the bead swap! It sounds really cool! What does one involve? I haven't really read up on it.

What about a swap of baby things we make? example, I make Diapers and CArriers, somebody else might make blankets or sweaters, or if you make something for decoration of baby's room...

As in we list what we would be interested in receiving and what we would be able to make, and then pair up that way... I always like the idea of homemade things for babies, even simple ones.

ok, and yes, I know this sounds complicated, maybe too complicated, but that is for the group to decide, right?

And also, something we did in my last DDC, what about a virtual Baby shower... this would be done prolly in 3rd trimester, and it would have a spending range.... then we randomly pair up and each get one person a baby gift. we could make it secret (having only one or two people knowing who everbody has and PMing people with matches, and then kind of hint around at finding out what their partner would like. or even having a list of registries available when the time comes for participating mamas.

I'm making diapers and would love to swap for other diapers, blankets, and so forth, as long as no one minds that I'm an amateur seamstress and it shows! :D

I'm up for a "homemade" trade also. That sounds really fun!!! The only thing I do is paint on canvas for baby's playroom. The reason I call it "playroom" is because we prepared DD's nursery and had everything ready for her, only to have her choose to sleep with us. Which is okay b/c we LOVE co-sleeping!

Wow that sounds fun! I dont really make things, but I live on an indian reservation and they do!

My last DDC did the baby shower one and I got the most BEAUTIFUL pocket diaper!

Steph! We are neighbors. I am down in Phoenix.

As for the swaps, I am up for anything. We did the beads last time, too, which was nice.

I am also making dipes, and mei tais, but I am amatuer too. I can sew a mean straight line. I also embroider.

Whatever is good for me.

Homemade sounds fun! Maybe maternity clothes, too? I've got some from my last pregnancy that I'm not planning to wear again, but they would sure look pretty on someone else :)

I'd be up for just about anything. A homemade swap would be fun, too. I don't sew, but I knit.

I like having a virtual baby shower. We did that with my DDC (different board)with #1, we each spent about $20 on another mom and it was a surprise who it was.

Oooh, I'm all new to being PG on MDC...I didn't even know about the swaps -- that's awesome! I'd love to hear more about it. What is the bead swap?

You know, it looks like tere are enough :cd:mamas here and interested in :cd: mamas that we can do a swap just for that, if we want... I would say, since not all mamas here sew, and not all ofthose who do are comfortable with their proficiency levels, that it could be an option of either making or buying a nice :cd: for the swap partner. Or, if somebody knits or crochets but doesn't sew, they could do a soaker or longies or something to go along with diapering... that might make a few more people feel better about doing a swap like that... and there are tons of free and heap patterns out there on the web for soakers, longies, shorties, and diapers...

I think the swap sounds really cool. I knit and sew. I thought about making some carriers this time around. I'll knit soakers, longies, sweaters, whatever. Blankets are an awfully huge time investment.

I have no interest in sewing dipes (don't ask me why, I don't know myself). But if anyone wants to trade homemade dipes for knitted stuff, I'm all for that!

A swap sounds great! Is it okay for me to be in even though I'm in another country?

I will either buy a nappy or knit some longies. :knit

I love this idea. I like the virtual baby shower thing too.

I make blankets, getting into diapers and same with carriers.

A blanket would not nessecarily be knit or crochet, don't forget... I got some nice blankets for DS when he was born that were sewn... and depending how you do them they can be very simple. Not to push anypone to do a blanket, just to say that homade can mean all sorts of things.

I vote for a CD swap. Second, for a virtual shower.

I have a sewing machine, so I'm sure I couuld make something halfway decent, like a blankie. The virtual baby shower sounds nice as well.

I'd be up for anything! I CD and crochet really well. I'm not so great with the sewing machine and I can't knit to save my life..but as long as it doesn't matter :)

Homemade swap!

I'm a knitter, and spinner (I can make yarn for you other knitters hee), and would love to swap for homemade gifties.

I'd love to do a homemade swap, but I'm just not sure I have the ambition right now. My vote would be a CD swap out of pregnant laziness. ;)

I don't do baby showers - family superstition.
A swap sounds fun though. Homemade huh? Well the only homemade thing I do is techy not sewy :-) I could do a video birth announcement for someone when we're all gloriously happy new mamas! look here (http://www.cooldogproductions.com)
I may start CDing as well so I'd be happy with that too. Off to a seminar this weekend I think. Now I'm off to hurl I think...
