Anyone have a clue as to what it could be?!? Its not something thats constant, it does tend to come and go, I just havent a clue as to what it is?

Any takers?

Umbilical hernia? Just guessing - you might be a little early for that to happen, I dunno. One of my doula clients had this while pregnant, she said it was very uncomfortable.

Are you constipated at all? Is it on the right side of your belly button? I was thinking appendicitis. They can be more common in pregnant women.

I have this too, it is kinda of new so I just assumed the baby moved into an uncomfortable position for me.

It can be quite painful, and a bit annoying.

I googled umbilical hernia and it doesn't seem to be related to adults, just infants... does the pp have more information on why they think it could be that?

If I still have it at my next DR appointment... I will bring it up, hopefully it will go away by then.

I so had this with my first pregnancy! I see you are just over 20 weeks, and that is when it happened with me, too. It had to do with the uterus getting to around that level, and for some reason the pressure there can cause some pain. In between the ouches, it totally cracked me up though because who has ever heard of their belly button hurting? :lol I asked around, and sure enough there were others who experienced it, too. For me it didn't last very long... a few weeks? I can't remember now. I guess my belly button just had to adjust. I hope yours stops hurting quickly! For as much as I made fun of it, it sure did hurt!

I don't have any particular info except that I know someone who had it...I Googled "hernia in pregnancy" and "umbilical hernia pregnancy" and these are from the first page of results:
http://en.allexperts.com/q/ObGyn-Pregnancy-issues-1007/Hernia-pregnancy.htm

I don't see a whole lot online with symptoms, this link does mention a bulge at the hernia site, though...
http://www.lhj.com/lhj/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/lhj/story/data/1140023966031.xml

Also, this site says it may be that if you get an umbilical hernia during pregnancy, it may be that it's been there from birth, but asymptomatic till pregnancy...

I experienced this around 20 weeks. I assume its the uterus moving upward and pressing on the belly button from the inside. I remember it going away after a couple of weeks.

hey! this happened to me too! i'm glad i'm not the only one, i felt like a freak when it was happening! it only happened for a few weeks, between 16-18, i think... but it doesn't happen anymore. it's not an umbilical hernia, i used to have one of those and they're two totally different feelings. anyway. just thought i'd toss that out there. i'm 24w now and my uterus is way past my belly button, i think it was just a growing pain. it doesn't happen anymore.

Do you have a sensitive belly button? I can't STAND to have someone poke my belly button, it is so painful! My husband can do anythign ot his, my son's doesn't seem sensitive, he's always pulling on it, etc. But I am really sensitive to that. So when my little baby is kicking BEHIND there, oh my gosh, it is really uncomfortable. I want to receive all the baby's movements with happiness so I just try to remember that he's just moving around, being a healthy little baby and try to be grateful for the "intense" reminder that he's strong.
