Does anyone know if it's safe to take the Hyland's adult Calms Forte when pregnant? Not that I want to take a bunch of meds while pregnant, but it would occasionally be nice to fall asleep and stay asleep for longer than a couple of hours!

Here's the ingredients:
Passiflora 1X | Triple Strength HPUS - For restless sleep from exhaustion

Avena Sativa 1X | Double Strength HPUS - For stress, nervousness

Humulus Lupulus 1X | Double Strength HPUS - For sleeplessness

Chamomilla 2X | HPUS - For nervous irritability

And the following biochemic phosphates for enhancing cellular function: Calcarea Phosphorica 3X HPUS, Ferrum Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Kali Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Natrum Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Magnesia Phosphoricum 3x HPUS

Thanks.

Bumping for you because I've been wondering this myself! I sure could use something to bring me down a bit before sleeping. Or just in general, lol!

I'm sorry, I don't know about the Hylands Calms, but there is a product here in the UK called "Kalms" and "Kalms Sleep" which sound similar. They also contain passiflora as well as valerian, and they say on them not to use during pregnancy.

Which is a shame because I could really do with some stress relief!! :dizzy:

Homeopathy is completely safe for pregnant women. There are no side effects.
I've taken quite a few homeopathic remedies during this pregnancy.

This one just says to consult a physician before taking if pregnant or breastfeeding. But that seems to be the standard statement whether its safe or not. My feeling is that it's okay. I may double post over in health.

Thanks for the yes vote though eoster58.

We have a homeopathic physician who provides care for our family. She explained the process of making a homeopathic remedy- taking one part of the substance and mixing it with a million parts of water. That's 1x, then if it's 2x, it's one drop of the 1x mixed with a million parts of water. So, the actual "amount" of passion flower or chamomille is extremely small. Counterintuitively, the bigger the number in front of the "X", the stronger the remedy (at least for single remedies) Homeopathy is strange, but it works for us :dizzy:

I've taken quite a few homeopathic remedies during this pregnancy.

I have taken several remedies too. My ND assisted me in finding the remedies I needed. I don't know about those exact remedies, but I would think they are indeed safe.

That warning is a standard warning on most products. You could contact a ND if you are worried, but I personally agree they are safe (none of the actual ingredient can be found in the remedy, only the ingredient's energy). It is indeed strange, but my parents raised me using homeopathy, and we in turn use homeopathy on our dd. It is one of the safest and most effective things for children & pregnant women.
