I would like to know too. They are swarming my kitchen. Just when I thought they were gone, I get home and there are about 25 surrounding my table. :dizzy:

Ok, I seriously need to finally write up a post about this on my blog. I've been meaning to for eons-I even took pics of my fruit fly traps...anyway, this site (http://www.creativehomemaking.com/cleaning/fruit-flies.shtml) outlines a good humane fruit fly trap. Another tip is to rinse fruit (especially bananas) as soon as you bring them home to wash away any fruit fly eggs that may be on the surface so that they won't hatch in your home.

What has worked for us is to pour a small amount of apple cider vinegar and a teeny bit of dishwashing soap into a small glass bowl. I "suds" up the mixture by whisking it with a fork and then cover the bowl with some cling wrap. I then poke a few holes into the top of the wrap.

The flies find their way in, get tipsy on the vinegar, can't find their way out and die a happy death. You can also use wine, but I would hate to waste good wine on some fruit flies. :wink

Works like a charm.

I was just coming here to ask this very question. Thanks for the ideas.
