Sorry, this is just so weird! With dd I almost hurled when I walked past the fish counter at the grocery store (that was the last time I grocery shopped for the entire pregnancy :lol). We went shopping today and Whole Foods had out samples of fish spreads (trout or salmon, mayo, spices, etc.). I was starving and had some and thought I was in absolute heaven! I immediately bought some :lol. At Trader Joe's they had a smoked salmon/cream cheese/bread sample, and I loved that too and had to buy it :dizzy:!

It's just the last thing I thought I would be liking right now :lol.

That's funny-all of my cravings have changed with each pregnancy. This time I want everything spicy.

Last time it was Amy's Organic 3 cheese cornmeal pizza. Currently, it seems to be black beans and meat.

Same here.

Usually I will not eat any kind of fish except for haddock and tuna. But I've been craving fish like crazy for the last few weeks! Salmon and canned sardines especially... things I normally would not touch, ever :lol

Crazy.

The same thing is happening to me but with salad. normally, I'm not a salad person at all. But when nausea has hit me the last few days I've found that eating a crisp green salad with tomatoes and cucumbers has really helped. It gets rid of most of my queasiness.

green_momma2007, I'm craving salad as well...and all veggies. Just like with my last 2 pregnancies!

Be careful what fish you are eating because of Mercury. Thats why my OB's office said to not take fish oil tablets. To get my Omega 3's from non fish sources because of risk of mercury.

I was all about salad earlier today. Actually, it sounds really good right now, now that you mention it greenmomma!

My DH is quite amused at my sudden attachment to graham crackers. I think I've eaten a whole box of them this week, normally they go stale before I ever use enough making pie crusts...

I carry several wallet-sized cards with me that list which types of fish are safe, and which are not. Trout is okay, and I also know that Whole Foods has all of their fish regularly tested. I still try to buy wild-caught salmon (Alaskan), though, as it is better. DH bought the salmon at Trader Joe's before I saw that it was farmed. I'm not as keen on that, but will limit my intake to small amounts :).

I think fish is an important enough part of my diet (especially while pg), that I am willing to include it (as long as my body is willing to accept it :lol), while making informed choices and reducing my risk :thumb.

Also, you can buy fish oil supplements that are tested and shown to be free of toxins. Assuming the manufacturer is on the up and up, that is :lol.

Fish is a great source of lean protein, but all I can think of when I see it or smell it is EWW!!! Wish I didn't have such a strong aversion to it!
