Question: A lady I work with is 18 weeks pregnant and suffering from sciatica. Is there anything she can do to help with the pain or make it better? She doesn't want to take medication.

I visited a chiropractor for my sciatica, and it worked wonders. She showed me a stretch to do first thing in the morning that helped: lying on your back, you pull your knees as far into your chest as you can. This helped some. The only cure is time. Sciatica typically goes away by the middle of the pregnancy.

I always have sciatica when I am pregnant. Have her partner massage the back of her thigh using massage oil. If she is standing it is good to have one foot resting on a step, it takes some of the pressure off.
These are temporary fixes but may ease the discomfort.
