Three weeks ago, I had my first homebirth with my 4th child - it was a VBAC. This was my first experience using a midwife. I was wondering what to expect with regard to the 6 wk postpartum checkup with a midwife. Is it similar to a 6 week checkup with an OB? Do homebirth midwives typically want to do an invasive exam and/or pap? Or is it more of a how-are-you-feeling, ask-lots-of-questions thing? I'm trying to decide whether or not to make the appointment.
Please post your experiences, and I will be appreciative.

IME it's 90% chat.... I don't think I even took my pants off (though if I did it was just for her to see how my odd tear healed.... )

yep, I consider the 6 week visit a check-in and a bit of a break-up. :( Which is why I'm so unwilling sometimes to make the appt.

My midwife did do a pap, but I could have declined that. It was mostly just a make sure I was feeling well and healing.

With my midwives it's just a last check in to make sure everything is going well. We talk about birth control options, when to do the next pap (she doesn't like to do one that soon after birth), and kinda say goodbye. :(
There was no poking and proding that I remember.

Thanks for the replies, ladies. I'll probably just skip the appointment regardless.
