Our dd was born in Guatemala. Guatemala has recently tried to implement the Hague Convention and they are having lots of uncertainty there right now. I've heard of a few people adopting from Panama but I don't know much about it. The message board at fertilethoughts.com is wonderful for International Adoption issues.

I know someone who has adopted once from Colombia and they are in the process of going for #2. They had a great experience and their son is adorable.

Our ds is from Guatemala as well. I would not attempt to adopt from there for a little whille until they get this Hague stuff straightened out. It could be a few weeks or a few months. I have heard of a few people adopting fo Mexico. I think our agency also has programs in Peru and Bolivia. Another suggestion might be to try for a domestic adoption through Texas or California or any other state that has a large Latino population. We would like to adopt a little Latina at some point. But it would hae to be doestic through the foster care system. We can't afford another international adoption.

Research your agency, attorney, everyone involved. Not everyone who works in adoptions are ethical. You might want to join some online groups such as

Good luck on your journey.
