Your turn Linda!
Tell me about your little boy. What are his favorite things to do? How did you find out about his food allergies?
What kind of birth are you planning for this baby?
Any names picked out?

HI!
Charles:
My Charles is a darling little guy! He will be 2 in November and is just the sweetest thing! He loves trains, trucks and blocks. His big thing now is watching the train go by. We go to different places to watch the train..sometimes I think the train conductor thinks we are stalking them! AHHAHA!
Food Allergies:
Food allergies... YIKES!!! I cry at least once a week over these. DS was always a rashy baby. When he was about 8 months old he ate a Gerber Biter Biscuit for teething and got a red rash on his face, then at about the same time I got a peach smoothie with whipped cream and he stuck his hand in the whipped cream and got hives all over his hand. So I suspected some allergy or sensitiviity. Then the BIG one. He was 9 months old and reached out and touched some cheese I was eating and BLEW UP in hives. Thank goodness I had benadryl and knew his dose because he gets hives/rash near my MIL and FIL and they have cats so we just figured it was cat allergy like me. SO he gets the hives and his face swells so I gave him benadryl and called the pedi... I took pics of him and I get so upset when I see them. I showed the pedi the pics and he told me I was lucky he didn't go into shock and perscribed an Epi-Pen.... Off to the allergist... she did the back prick test (thank god for nursing! that totally helped calm him). He reacted severly and quickly to dairy, eggs and nuts. He reacted so bad that they gave him double dosed benadryl and rubbed anti-histimine cream all over his back. The Dr explained that we have a very very allergic little boy. She explained that not only are his allergies Life threatening through food but contact also. She explained that if he injests dairy, eggs or nuts an Epi-Pen may not be enough to save him, so avoidence is key in preventing his death. So for us, he can't go near dairy, eggs or nuts. I have seen him blow up into hives after playing with his cousin that is formula fed. No food around... just her saliva on toys. He has gotten hives from library books.. so we can't go to the library. Whenever we see people I hvae to make sure they wash their hands, arms and face (if they kiss him)... I have to beg parents at play dates to PLEASE don't let their kids eat or drink near him (unless fruit). I just look at my little guy and cry because simple foods are deadly... I have to tell him to stay away from people... I have to teach him that different foods will make him sick. We can't go to restaurants.. We live such an odd life. I am terrified of playdates, food shopping, and the thought of school. I want to homeschool but DH wants DS to be normal and take a school bus. I try to accept that this is our life and that it is normal for us.
Birth:
We are planning a Hypnobirth. I started at a Birth Center with DS, transferred to the hospital after 32 hours and I started bleeding and was stuck at 7 cm. As soon as I got to the hospital, was at 10 and pushing! I bled badly and fainted often after the birth. SO for this one I want to stay home as long as possible then go to the hospital. From DSs birth I learned that I needed a new way to relax so I took a hypnobirth class already. I really want a more quiet labor/birth. I was a wreck for DSs just yelling "no" at every contraction.. not accepting that my body needed to open to birth my baby. I think I want to go it alone with maybe a doula or two. I would love to have my mom and brother for the birth too IF they support my hypnobirthing ideas.
names:
I like Elaina Delaney for a girl.. and for a boy Gabriel, Stephen, Ethan or
Ryan So far! Nothing definate yet!
OK I wrote a lot!
Oh poor little guy. Is there a chance that he'll grow out of the allergies?
Is he excited about having a sibling, does he understand? How do you feel about having 2 children?

There is a chance he will outgrow them. If he hasn't by five, then he most likely won't outgrow them.
I am not certain if he is excited yet! He knows there is a baby in my belly and he knew before I knew! I need to get some new sibling books.
I am a bit worried about two kids! I am afraid that this one will have different food allergies and we won't be able to eat anything! I am worried that DH won't help out with the house stuff... I am nervous about how I will put a baby and toddler to bed at night!!! ahahh! all the weird little things about our routine!

:hug Food allergies are a huge fear of mine. I'm so tense about them, it seriously affects my eating while I'm pregnant and nursing especially.
Did you plan to have your kids so close together? :shy

Jumping in from the next DDC! :wave from the March DDC.
I couldn't help but ask -do you have an allergy bracelet for Charles? I am so sorry to hear that he has such sever allergies to common foods. Poor guy! I hope you are able to manage this and not feel like you are stuck at home forever (though how, i don't know!).

DH and I talked in the beginning of July about starting to try in the fall for another child... BUT I was already pregnant and didn't know it! I got my first real (not vitex induced period) May 15 and that is my LMP! At first DH wanted our kids to be 1-1.5 years apart... ah no that would be too tough for me. My sister and I are 26 months apart and DS and this new one will be 27 months apart, so I think the spacing will be good as my sister and I have always been close and interested in the same types of things.

HI! I know you from the Maine tribe group! Yes, Charles has a medical alert bracelet and I wear one too with his info. It is a nice bright neon yellow. He knows we wear it in the car and anywhere we go except in our house. It is part of the routine now!

You are such a wonderfully strong mama to protect your son from his allergies so well. *hugs* I had no idea that people could have an allergic reaction to food just from contact.
Can you tell me more about Hypnobirth? I've looked into it but the course is so expensive! Why are you confident it will help your labor? (just seeking info - not challenging!)
What are your hobbies?

hi!
Hypnobirthing class here was only $200 so I took it! I considered and am still considering the hypnobabies home study.. but not certain on the price of that. I am still reading the hypnobirthing book... I think just the book alone won't help. I liked the course BUT you have to really release and get into it. I will admit it can seem a bit strange and out there. And the instruction does leave you saying "uh how do I put all this together" BUT I am taking what I learned and practicing and really trying to get into it. It is the kind of course that you take what you want and leave what you want. I am not certain I am going to be able look like the women in the videos that we watched who are smiling and feel no pain! But to me it will be a tool to help me relax. The book comes with a CD that I don't care for, I do like the CD that came with the class. I think the whole key is practice.. you need to be prepared and used to getting yourself to relax. My plan is to practice the relaxation techniques and write out on index cards or colored paper different ways to help me relax with page numbers in the book. I also plan on doing my own kind of visualizations about where my mind can go during surges and rests. I figure that if I practice it enough then I won't really need to think about it when labor comes. So I think it will help me because with DS birth I was lost and couldn't relax and did not take any childbirth classes. I need some sort of technique to help me relax and am really hoping that this will be what I need to get through the labor.
Hobbies:
Ugh.. not many now! I am getting into a bit of sewing! I got a sewing machine for christmas last year so do that once in a while when DS lets me!!!
