Calling For An Update on all those planning on moving to Montana!

We are still planning on buying land soon. We are looking at several mountain parcels near Wolf Creek, Helena, Deer Lodge, and towards Missoula on Hwy 12 out of Helena.

DH is going up there in September with a Real Estate agent to look at land. Can anyone recommed any small towns in that area? We really want remote, off-the grid, but winter accessible.

Okay - after visiting the area we are now looking into Kalispel, Whitefish, Plains, etc.

Anyone live up there????

Kalispell is where we dream of moving. Hopefully in the next 3 years. We need to get out of the city, and breath some fresh air...when the smoke clears:crying

Lots of 'newbies' moving into that area, especially from California. I have several friends who live near Whitefish/Kalispell. The area is getting very expensive...very fast...land wise! We've only been up there for vacation, but it's a pretty area. I do know that many of the communities near that area are either included in, or will be included in a pretty new 'resort' area tax. Montana doesn't have sales tax, but specific areas were approved recently for what basically amounts to a sales tax for the resort area.
