that as a KOSHER VEGAN I am craving my Daddy's cheese grits and some sausage :lol
that was my thought on my morning walk with DS
many would say that it's too early to have these "symptoms," and maybe they're totally in my head, but who cares! :)
what are y'all craving?
sea salt & vinegar kettle chips and chocolate milk. :lol

Before I knew I was pg I kept wanting baked potatos, and I did for a few weeks after we found out. But I don't crave them anymore. I don't crave anything yet.

The better thing to ask is what I don't crave - ice cream makes me ill, which totally goes against my moral code. :lol Also, chips. Also, just about anything except bread. And those vanilla sandwich cookies from Whole Foods. And I'm loving sorbet. That's about it.
went home for lunch today and had leftover coq au vin (chicken cooked in red wine). Cleaned to the bone two pieces of chicken leg/thigh, then began eyeing dh's lunch of leftover pizza.:lol

BLT's. I'd tried them before, but they were awful. Took a bite of dh's a few weeks ago, and viola! Yummy! But all I have is maple bacon and bread. No tomatoes from the yard, no lettuce. Well, scratch that, I still have some small lettuce plants, but no tomatoes. :(
Oh, and sleep. Lots of sleep. Which isn't happening because this isn't my first.

For lunch the past 3 days the only thing that has sounded good to me has been Lipton's Noodle soup! Other than that, I'm craving meat. We've been vegetarian for almost 3 months and now suddenly meat is looking very good to me.

I couldn't get enough of this salsa with cilantro in it on Sunday. I thought I might be pregnant. I just found out yesterday. I usually hate cilantro, it tastes like soap to me, but then it was great.
I am hungry all the time now. I don't have any morning sickness, yet, and I sort of feel nervous about it. (Weird, I know!)
I am so so tired, though, and nursing HURTS (I have a 14 month old)

Kind of OT - I guess, but what is the difference between being a Kosher Vegan and a Vegan? I am trying to think of anything a vegan would eat that would not be kosher???
Sorry, really not trying to be disrespectful. I also keep kosher and am "partly" a vegetarian (I eat meat on holidays/Shabbos).

Well, for the purpose of my craving, kosher is relevant. Although there is kosher sausage, traditional sausage is made with pork ;)
But in general it is true that anything vegan should be kosher. It depends on how strict you are about kashrus certification, though. There is plenty that is vegan that is not certified kosher. For example, it is impossible to find kosher vegan "cheese" (other than Tofutti, which is nasty and hydrogenated). Random stuff like that. So if you're willing to bend a bit and assume that a vegan product or restaurant is by definition kosher, that makes things easy, but otherwise you still have to check everything for a symbol.

Ah, got it. Doh! The Kosher Vegan isn't the problem part it is the craving that would be a problem. I guess my brain is in a complete fog....
And yes, I now see what you mean about Hechshers as well - I am very well aware of the problems trying to find parve kosher cheese (you can't). I can imagine it would be much worse as a vegan.

I am craving rice with soya sauce and fruit salad for breakfast this morning. :lol

That's interesting about the soy sauce... I'm totally craving salty foods lately! I've had hard boiled eggs with salt on them, salty chips, Lipton noodle soup (which has a good amount of sodium in it) and so forth. Sweet stuff does not appeal to me lately.

I'm not really craving anything, yet. I have been eating a lot of whole wheat crackers. I haven't wanted many sweets at all which is unusual. I've actually been pretty cautious about what I eat, only healthy food or I feel guilty.

Quinoa with roasted sesame oil and salt; edamame pods with lots of salt!
Normally I'm a sugar junkie, but right now the thought of really sweet things just turns my stomach....
Does anyone else find they have one day of eating like a horse and then one day of feeling stuffed and queasy? Maybe it's my liver reacting to the food of the day before! I'm not eating badly, for the most part, but I think I'm figuring out that I need to go for moderation or else I swing like a pendulum.

Dunkin Donuts. Before this pregnancy I hadn't had one in over a year. I've wanted one every morning this week around 10:30am (right about when my nice healthy breakfast seems to have been digested!). I started this pregnancy about 10lbs. overweight and I vowed that I would be eating really healthy from the get go - then the morning sickness hit about a week or so ago. So I'm trying, but I'm not going to give myself too much grief over nutrition until about week 12, when I expect my stomach to go back to normal! LOL! We're vegetarian and try to eat really healthy most days, but there are times in my day now when all I want is SUGAR! And forget those nice organic fig newtons in the cupboard, I want refined, processed, no nutrition-type stuff! With both my girls I craved McDonald's egg and cheese bicuits. The cravings did die down around 12 weeks - so I think it's somehow related to the morning sickness. I just wish I could crave fruits and veggies - but no such luck!
Namaste.
