Dh is missing two teeth and two wisdom teeth--missing teeth run in his family (his cousin is missing 9! his sister had no wisdom teeth). He had the baby teeth, but then no adult teeth in the same spots, so now he has bridges.

Dd has her four middle teeth on the top and bottom, then there's a big space, and then she has a molar on each side, both top and bottom. Does the fact that there's a big gap where her canines (?) should be mean that she won't get them at all? Do molars ever come in before other teeth, or should I assume that dd, like dh, is going to make some orthodontist a very happy guy (or gal)? :lol

I think it's too soon to assume anything. I remember DD1 having "fangs" for a while when her side teeth came in before her front teeth did.

From what I have read about abnormal development of teeth, there is no set in stone, sometimes baby teeth are there with no adult, sometimes no baby and they get the adult, sometimes no baby nor adult....

well, our little guy had an unusual dentation, he's missing 1 baby, on the x-ray he's missing the adult that would go along with it, front bottom, we don't know about the molars, they haven't done those x-rays yet

Have you ever heard of Ecodermal Dysplasia? check out http://nfed.org/ many times families will not know because the range of symptoms are so varied and sometimes very slight... when you said cousin missing 9 teeth that popped out to me, some folks/families are just missing teeth, it's genetic... like most things are sometimes there isn't a 'reason' sometimes there is, the things that I tell folks to mainly think about for Ectodermal Dyslasia is to look for overheating/no sweating, thin hair, bald spots on the head, missing, pointed or odd shaped teeth, issues with fingernails or toenails. Nope. None of those issues whatsoever. Dark, full head of thick hair; teeth shaped totally normally; nothing unusual about nails. Definitely no problem with sweating. :lol I looked at the website and didn't see anything that seemed relevant to his family. Just a genetic quirk, I guess.
