I'm allergic to potato and all enriching B vitamins are grown on a potato base (which affects me dramatically if I eat them) so I have not had enriched items in a long long time. Well, now that I'm pg, I'm feeling anxious about folic acid but there are not supplements that I can find that do not have some sort of potato in them when they're tested.

Anyone at all with something unique like this?
I was looking into it and I'm afraid I'm going to be eating 3.5 cups of cooked lentils every day to keep up!!

Not in your DDC. I am on prescription strength Folic Acid (I have a child with a neural tube defect). Have you asked your MW or Doctor for a prescription?

Something like alfalfa juice or the like? I know my midwife had me on it to help boost my iron, but I've heard people talk about it and folic acid and such. Good luck though!

I have a recipe for chocolate chip cookies with lentils ;)
I'll post it later

you can't eat any bread or flour or cereal items?
I think Americans in general get PLENTY of folic acid, but without eating any of the enriched products at all it might be a bit more difficult...
sorry I don't have any great advice! but I promise you won't have a problem eating lots of lentils if I get you that recipe :P

No, all those items (cereal, bread, flour) has to be non-enriched for me... I use organic to MAKE those things, but obviously they don't have the fake nutrients in them that way.

I'd love your recipe!
