Any VBAC mamas here?

Just curious if anyone here is planning a VBAC. DS was a scheduled c/s because he was breech, so I'm already plotting my successful normal birth. Anyone else?

Definately hoping for a VBAC. I had pre-e which led to induction and an emerg c/s. Definately not hoping for a repeat.

Im planning an HBAC. Im SO excited. Everytime I find myself thinking negitivly, or getting nervous, I keep trying to convert that thinking into deturmiation. I hope that works for me!
I have found a great midwife, she says she loves doing VBACS, that they are empowering for woman. I go for my first App next week.
I had a pretty typical chain of events that lead me to my csec. I knew what I wanted going into the hospital (no drugs, allowed to move around, no continuous monitoring) but I didnt have any idea how little my choises would be respected. I was bugged about pit for hours before they wore me down, and then you know the story...after the pit I wanted an epi, after the epi I couldnt move around, pushing was not productive....and then under the knife.

If nothing else, I am SUPER motivated to prove all my critics wrong!

I had a c-section with my third and a HBAC with my forth. Planning another VBAC(once a VBAC always a VBAC unfortunately). I have no hospital or birth center options as a Vbac-er. I'll be planning another homebirth.

Planning/hoping for a VBAC here as well. My Doc does do them so we will see. I had to have a c/s with my twins as they were both breech and one of them had their booty hanging out my cervix. :lol:

I was planning on a vbac but was told yesterday that because the gap between my delivery and this pregnancy is less than 18 mos, I am considered "high-risk" by the hospital and they won't allow it due to liability reasons:irked:. Also, a homebirth is out because no midwife will do it because they don't want to lose hospital priviledges. They gave me the option of going to UCSF but it's 5+ hours away. Looks like I get the knife again. I'm so pissed that I don't even get to try:irked::irked::irked:

Hoping for an HBAC here! Just found a midwife who will do it- my last bith was a c/s for my twins due to footling breech presentations. It did not go smoothly & I ended u with 2 blood transfusions & I can not remember my babies first 2 days hardly at all. I pretty much decided on the ride home our next birth would be a HBAC!

I replied to you in the due date thread but they're full of cr*p and using it as an excuse - anything past a year has not been shown to decrease the odds of uterine rupture. They can't MAKE you do anything. Talk to the local homebirth MWs about barter for cost and interview them to see if they REALLY feel how you are thinking - you could very well be surprised. Quite honestly, the atmosphere from one homebirth MW to another homebirth MW will be vastly different I bet.

Don't give up - we ALL deserve a chance.

Totally agree with this!! NO ONE Can MAKE you have a c-section. Fight mama fight!! Personally I would go anywhere to have a VBAC. I'd even have a UC(unassisted childbirth) if that was absolutely my only option. I would not let them make that decision for me. You do have options. There are even traveling midwives who would come to you. Join the ICAN group. Ask around. There is always another way.

Planning on another HBAC. DD2 was a vbac born here at home. Loved the birth and am hoping for another wonderful birth :-)

Oh Bean's Mama I'm so sorry they're giving you a hard time! I actually have a good journal article that has the UR rates broken down by inter-delivery interval. Maybe there's a chance that you can show your doc and convince them? I'll post the reference to it tomorrow - it's on my work computer. I agree that joining your local ICAN group is a good way to find some resources - I bet there are other VBAC mamas in the area who know of someone that can help you safely deliver your baby.

Personally, I wouldn't do a UC VBAC. It's just beyond my comfort level. But when we (myself included) see a situation like yours we all throw up our arms and think, "They can't DO that!!!" and it makes us so MAD. Anyway, you've got a long time to find someone yet, so keep looking.

I'm hoping for a VBAC. I had an emergency c/s with DD and it was an awful experience. I'm so scared that if I do another c/s that it will be just like my first.

This will be my 3rd vbac also. I hate that "once a vbac, always a vbac" :gloomy: I would love LOVE a home birth, I'm still working on dh. It looks like I may have the option for a hospital water birth so that would be nice.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to measure the impact of the interdelivery interval on uterine
rupture during subsequent delivery.
STUDY DESIGN: An observational cohort study was performed to assess the rate of uterine rupture in
women with a previous low transverse cesarean delivery and no previous vaginal delivery who undergo a
trial of labor from 1988 to 2000 in a tertiary care center. The rate of uterine rupture was measured for each of
the following interdelivery intervals: ≤12 months of gestation, 13 to 24 months of gestation, 25 to 36 months
of gestation, and >36 months of gestation. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to adjust for selected
confounding variables.
RESULTS: Of the 1527 women who met the study criteria, the rate of uterine rupture was 4.8% for patients
with an interdelivery interval of ≤12 months of gestation, 2.7% for patients with an interval between 13 and
24 months of gestation, 0.9% for patients with an interval between 25 and 36 months of gestation, and 0.9%
for patients with an interval of >36 months of gestation (P = .04). After adjustment for the confounding variables,
the odds ratio for uterine rupture in women with an interdelivery interval of ≤24 months of gestation
was 2.65 (95% CI, 1.08-6.46) and 4.33 (95% CI, 1.70-10.98) in women with a single-layer closure of the previous
uterine incision. The combination of an interdelivery interval of ≤24 months of gestation and a singlelayer
closure of the previous uterine incision were associated with a rate of uterine rupture of 5.6%.
CONCLUSION: An interdelivery interval of ≤24 months of gestation was associated with a 2- to 3-fold increase
in the risk of uterine rupture compared with an interval of >24 months of gestation. (Am J Obstet Gynecol
2002;187:1199-1202.)

PLEASE NOTE: the women in this study probably made some choices that you woudln't. FOr example of the women at 12 months inter-delivery interval (which is what I gather Bean's Mama will be) 29% were induced, 52% had pitocin and 71% had an epidural.

The women who had less than 24 months between deliveries AND who had a double layer closure only had a UR rate of 1.2% (versus 0.4% for those greater than 24 months)

Planning on a VBAC here. My daughter was born C/S after a pretty lengthy labor and several hours of pushing (not emergency, she was always fine). I'm very fortunate in that my experience wasn't awful and I healed pretty quickly and easily. However, it's NOT something I ever want to repeat.

I had a UC transfer with my first, and a horrible doc, that lied to me, and then forced me into a C-sec. :(

I didn't have a c/s, but one of my best friends IRL did, and then went on to have an amazing HBAC afterwards (her daughter was born 1 month after Nora).
