expected on my end. DS is 15 months now and will be 23m in June, and I'll deliver before it's insanely hot here, so our timing worked out perfectly!

Expected, or rather, hoped for here. It's our first cycle of trying after a miscarriage. Would have been due in Jan, but I'll take June if that's what I can get.

Huge surprise.
Although technically it shouldn't have been, but I don't think dh would like me to repeat that story online (but I will say a lot of the fault lies with him :p)

At least one worry is gone - we went and got a bigger car yesterday where I can fit 3 humans and/or carseats in the back seat. :)

Expected. We tried real hard this month to "catch the egg" and it worked - yippee! It was our first try.

Hm. I wasn't exactly expecting it because based on the HSG I had a few months ago, I thought my tubes might be blocked, and I was actually supposed to have a laparoscopy the day I got my BFP - thank goodness I rescheduled!

But it wasn't a surprise either because I took Vitex last cycle (which is what I did the cycle before I got pg with DS) and we did the Sperm Meets Egg plan, which means we boinked like bunnies. :D

My DS will also be around 23 months when the new babe is born.

I knew I was pregnant, so the BFP itself was expected. But the pregnancy was not expected. We were TTC for a year with my DS, and I only had one AF since he was born. I was charting since then, with hopes of actually avoiding pregnancy but getting pregnant in a few months. I had a few fertile patches where I think my body was trying to ovulate, and we sort of gave up on the avoiding thing and sure enough I immediately ovulated and got pregnant :P

So yeah, a bit of a surprise but more than welcome, and in terms of child spacing I think it's perfect. Logistically with the rest of our life, not so much ;)

Definitely expected. :) We've been TTC #2 for about 2.5 years.......

I knew it was going to be positive (the test), but the pg is a surprise itself. I have a 14m old (he will be 14m tomorrow) and we already have 3 children so we were not TTC at all, but such is the way of life. We were using NFP successfully for 1.5 years - but I had nursing-brain and messed up some numbers and DH ignored the pause in his spirit so here we are. A good result though if I may say so. ;)

Four was the # of children I felt like I would have in my life so I'm not sad, and DH is great with it as well. He is the oldest of 6 and we can still fit 4 carseats in our van (ack!) AND us, so we're good. ;)

I knew that I was pregnant, almost immediately. I am really in tune with my body and my boobs were soooo sore. So, the BFP was not a surprise to me. I was surprised that we got pregnant the first month we tried. My husband seemed a bit more shocked but was just as happy :)

Completely and totally surprised to be having #5 so soon! #4 is only 8 mos old and I had an appointment to discuss birth control next week.

But I am now totally and completely on board and looking forward to welcoming this little bundle.

expected ... we'd been 'loosely' TTC for a few months. I am surprised that DHs swimmers got the job done/lived long enough .... I didn't know that the 'naughty quickie' was close to my O date!!

SURPRISE!

I was using NFP. I ovulated DAYS earlier than all the other previous cycles...

that's why I'm here. LOL

Surprise but only because I was convincing myself that I wasn't PG since I had gotten my hopes so high the month before. So planned, but surprising! I actually gasped when it turned positive!

planned and waited for!
It happened right away with our first, so the 4-5m of trying before getting this BFP were hard. With how sich Im feeling with this one....this may be our last!

Ours was definitely a planned baby.....I really do not see it happening any other way for us :wink

It was our second month trying.

Expected because DH and I have been TTC for more than 2 years/29 cycles.

Also a complete surprise because I SWORE I wasn't pg this time! My beta hCG came back at a healthy 105 so I was apparently very wrong:)

Planned. Mostly. We knew when we did it that it was a possibility and we had planned to start really "trying" the next month. I am actually really glad that it happened this way. So much less stressful than real trying.

Planned here. My second but my partner's first. My partner is 40 so we wanted to have kids soon. He just dropped the SAHM bomb on me yesterday though. He wants me to stay at home and have baby#3 right away....he would like to see us have 2 15months apart.
This was me...."#3????? Stay home.....ack!" Stuff to think about anyways. I had PPD quite bad after the birth of my ds which didn't go away until I went back to work. I don't know if I want to stay at home full time. It might be nice to work 10-15 hrs a week after my mat leave. I guess its nice to not have to work though....this is turning into a whole new thread.

This was a surprise in that I can't believe it worked... I charted and it just worked. But really it was planned (obviously)

Expected sort of... it was my first postpartum O, which I was NEVER convinced was actually going to happen. But we wanted another baby and figured we'd DTD whenever it seemed plausible that I might O (ie I noticed fertile CM). I did NOT expect to catch the first egg, though!

A surprise for us... but well... here is what happened. We were trying to avoid getting pregnant right now. Last month (well, back in August) my cycle was really wacky. It lasted 6 weeks - very unusual for me - but I had 4 negative HPTs over those extra two weeks so I either ovulated very late or I had a cyst. I wasn't charting at the time so I don't know. So I told dh maybe I should start temping/charting again so we wouldn't have to go through that uncertainty like we had just gone through.

Well, one day I was feeling in the mood (that should've been our first warning sign! :lol ) and I told dh I "might" be fertile. That was truthful - I wasn't sure when I'd ovulate given the previous wacky cycle. So he grabbed a c**dom and had it ready to go. But we sorta got carried away and never actually used the thing, rendering it quite useless. :lol 11 days later a positive HPT confirmed our surprise baby! This wasn't planned, but we're happy about it as we consider all babies a gift and a blessing.

TOTAL SURPRISE here... I'm in school fulltime, trying desperately to finish up before dh is transferred out-of-state.

That said, I knew almost immediately, just stayed in denial for a few weeks. My ovulation was "off" by about 2 weeks & I took about 5 tests before the one this morning came up positive... my dh thought I was stressing as a procrastination technique, lol. (In his defense, I have been POAS obsessed in the past...)

Wow, I'm shocked, but happy. :) :) The timing will be tight, but I should be finished with finals. :dizzy:

Surprise BFP here... I hadn't had a period after my last pregnancy and was exclusively breastfeeding so we took a few chances. I suspected I was pregnant but was in denial for a few days while getting my head around the possibility of a fourth child way ahead of schedule!

Surprise for us....of course we know how babies are made an all :lol but all of my previous pregnancies have been on monitored and medicated cycles (clomid/met). This little one was created au natural :shy

Suprise here. Well... kinda. We weren't planning, but we weren't preventing. I had thought we might space our littles out a bit more, but I guess this is just how it's meant to be! :)

Surprise!! A big, big, not necessarily well-received surprise here. :gloomy:

I'm doing great with it. We'll see how DP warms up to it, if he does at all, and if he remains my DP. :(

A surprise for us but also not really. I was using a fertility monitor and we bd'd on my peak day. I think we were surprised that I got pregnant though. We have a 3.5 year old and, let's just say that bding doesn't happen nearly as much as we would like :o

I have had tso m/cs though, so we want this one so desperately...and then dh is getting snipped!!

love this thread!!!:lol:lol:lol

Not a surprise for us. I started to get the baby bug about a year ago, and had my IUD removed(sweet freedom!!:lol), but we used NFP and it worked great. (I wasn't 100% ready yet, still exploring the idea!) We finally decided to be open to the possibility of another babe and I was pregs right away. :dust That's how it happened with our last little one too. I had a friend say she saw "baby spirits" floating around me about six months ago, so maybe this lil one was just waiting for the green light from us!

first month after IUD was removed. We never really "tried" - didn't use OPK or temping or anything like that. We were pleasantly surprised that it happened so quick though we have never had trouble getting pregnant. First time was an accident, second time was on the 3rd cycle after birth. We are blessed with fertility I guess.

I'm trying to figure out what BFP means?

Help?

BlueMoonBean
11-01-2007, 02:22 PM
BFP = Bona Fide Positive

A positive pregnancy test, that is... :)

Oh. Thank you. :lol

It reminds me of a military acromyn. It doesn't make any sense at all, then you find out what the actual letters stand for, and you think "what? how did that end up getting used?" :lolI guess I get it now!!!:lol

I kept thinking the P stood for pregnancy, but I couldn't for the life of me figure the rest out!!!!

I thought BFP = Big, fat positive. As in a big, fat positive home pregnancy test. And opposed to a BFN which would be Big, fat negative (negative home pregnancy test).

It was somewhat of a suprise to us. We were planning on TCC starting in January. I had stopped charting once he left in August (since I didn't think that I would see him again until December) and by chance I got to see him for about a day in October.

It was a bit of a surprise for us, because we've been TTC for three years(with a few months off after a miscarriage), and I was just about to break down and make an appointment with an RE.

I am so, so happy and thankful.

Really unexpected. I am BF my 22 month old DD and I went on BC Sept 29 and thought it was just a side effect of the BC when I missed my peirod. Then I started showing signs of PG, and I thought my niples just hurt becuse my DD was a bit rough while nurrsing. Then I started geting really hungry. I took a pg test on Halloween and SUPRISE it was +. I am veary happy but a little worryed becuse I was taking BC for soo long.
