View Full Version : do we all have NAMES???
Momma Aimee 10-18-2007, 11:44 AM Does everyone have names picked out.
Our girl has been done since 04 .. it was the girl name for Theodore. Kathyern Beatrice.
OUr boy name is Charles Scott. I had other middle names i would choose over Scott, buttttttttttttt DH (Scott) is weary of fighting MIL and SHE wants earl .. and that ain't happneing :) so we'll default o Scott which neither of us are too pleased with :irked: ......
Theodore was my dad, and his dad
Charles is my Grandfather (Maternal)
Beatric is my Grandmother (Maternal) and my Mom's middle name.
sooooooooooooooooooo
the babies will be here soon -- do they all have names.
Aimee
*Lindsey* 10-18-2007, 11:47 AM Great names, Aimee!
Hazel Grace and Lucy Marie, here. :)

Nolan _______
still deciding between Nolan Lachlan-James, Nolan Ritter-James, or maybe I can even sneak in a Nolan Thomas-James after the birth :wink
oskie 10-18-2007, 12:06 PM Boy: James Anthony
Girl: Not James Anthony :lol
We're so screwed if this baby is female. DH and I just cannot seem to agree on names or even on style of name. My dad has already decided if it is a girl, he'll keep calling her 'Not James' no matter what we decide.

marisa 10-18-2007, 12:07 PM My son's name is Jonas Augustine.
renaissanceed 10-18-2007, 12:16 PM No! Nothing agreed to here. I thought we might be on track with Silas, but now DH is suggesting Porter (cause we both think it's a boy, and this would be similar to DD's suggestion of Portia for a girl). I just can't seem to get on board with Porter though.
Valerieg 10-18-2007, 12:20 PM Either Lauren Elizabeth or Sarah Anne for a girl...either Kyle Andrew or Jonathon David for a boy.
Frontrunners are Sarah and Jonathon.
welldone 10-18-2007, 12:24 PM Nothing final here, either. We have a favorite that I've loved since I was a little girl, but I've met a few boys with that name lately. And I like things to be unique. So, I'm torn.
I just hope we come up with something before he comes out!
If "he" ends up surprising us and being a "she," it will be so easy. I have a ton of great names for girls.
GearGirl 10-18-2007, 12:37 PM We have about 4 girls names that we like, and we will wait until the baby comes to decide. We like Mabel, Ruby, Georgia, and Scarlett. We had the hardest time coming up with a boys name. We went through lists, tried everything out for a few days, and finally we are back at a family name and I think it is where we were meant to be in the first place. My dad (who has passed away), my grandfather, and an uncle on my husbands side all shared the name using it either as a first, middle, or part of initials - Calvin, we will call him Cal.
Isaac'sMa 10-18-2007, 12:44 PM Not yet....Still between Ava Elisabeth and Autumn Elisabeth/Autumn Sage for a girl. For a boy we're leaning toward Caleb Patterson (MN family name) but I also like Micah and Jonah. Ezra Gordon (MN family name) was in the running for a while, but I think that's out now. Whaddya think?! Dh always puts me off when I try to discuss it and suggests Matheusaleh or something equally ridiculous (sorry if anyone is using Matheusaleh, not trying to offend).
Momma Aimee 10-18-2007, 12:49 PM Dh always puts me off when I try to discuss it and suggests Matheusaleh or something equally ridiculous (sorry if anyone is using Matheusaleh, not trying to offend).
that is my DH too -- he will suggest millard fillmore (Theo is Theo roosvelt) or something ......
Aimee
LittleLlama 10-18-2007, 12:53 PM We have a first name, Bridgette, butno middle name. DH doesn't think she should have a middle name and I'm thoroughly opposed to that, she's got to!
Let's just hope the u/s wsa right about gender too because DH adores one name and I really dont like it but have no alternative.
Curlita 10-18-2007, 12:55 PM Conrad Jerome (although I'm only sharing here on the DDC... no one in real life gets to find out until after the birth). Conrad is for my maternal grandfather and Jerome for my husband'd maternal grandfather.
Aimee, I'm glad that you didn't give in to the pressure to use Earl!
BabyBugsMom 10-18-2007, 01:04 PM Eleanor Elizabeth or Evan Timothy
We had a hard time with our boy name this time around. Even now, we're not really firm on the middle name. After having four boys ourselves, and having eight nephews that are close in age to our sons, we've run through most of our favorites!:lol
gamitzer 10-18-2007, 01:05 PM Noah Irving here. Unless we get a big shock! The big shock will be named Olivia Jean. Irving/Jean are beloved late grandparent names.
DeChRi 10-18-2007, 01:08 PM Nope, not yet. DH likes Delaney Clare. I like Emory Clare. My daughter is leaning towards Madeline-Sabrina-Cinderella-Anastatia Clare. :)
De-lovely 10-18-2007, 01:10 PM I love Irving and I love Emory......
Cora Jade is our final answer.....
sorteep 10-18-2007, 01:11 PM ARGHHHHHH,, nothing here...... I have given up..pls pray

DH *just* decided on the boy middle name last week. We were SO stuck! After a while, you just plain run out of names!!! :lol
maisiedotes 10-18-2007, 01:18 PM Mairaed Killeen will be our daughter's name. With every ultrasound we confirm that yes, she is still a girl. :lol
De-lovely 10-18-2007, 01:19 PM Mairaed Killeen will be our daughter's name. With every ultrasound we confirm that yes, she is still a girl. :lol
How do you pronounce that mama?
lisalulu 10-18-2007, 01:21 PM No name here.
I would like to get the list down to under 20 before the birth and decide when we see him!
pixiesmommy 10-18-2007, 01:22 PM We do and they are combinations of great-grandparents/grandparents, etc. DH is ethnically Jewish and does follow SOME traditions (though he's not religious) and you can't name children after living relatives apparently, or that's a curse that they will die soon. :dizzy: So, no "juniors" here! We finally just agreed on a girl name last week, in fact, but we aren't sharing either of our names with the public yet! Family does know that a little girl will have the middle name of "Arline" (pronounced just like Arlene) for combinations of my g-grandparents who raised me: Ardie and Pauline. My great-aunt, whom I love, and their first daughter, is also Arline.
Pixie is convinced it's a girl and her name will be Shenna or Susan Wilcock. We have no idea where the Wilcock came from, but she likes to yell it in a funny voice at the top of her lungs.
mommybytheWord 10-18-2007, 01:40 PM :heartbeat:girlbaby:
We have decided on ......
Piper Rose
Piper was my mothers childhood friends name. When I was a child she used to tell me stories of how they played house, tag, and went swimming in the creek together. I used to name all my dollies Piper. So after four boys I figure I can live out my childhood. Huh? Or is that way to sappy??:o:o
Rose is my moms middle name.
shelley4 10-18-2007, 01:59 PM our baby is  Athena Margaret Lauren ... that is, if the ultrasound is right!
and if it's wrong, then our baby boy will be Sage Gordon Alexander :)
gloobella 10-18-2007, 02:09 PM We have about 4 girls names that we like, and we will wait until the baby comes to decide. We like Mabel, Ruby, Georgia, and Scarlett. We had the hardest time coming up with a boys name. We went through lists, tried everything out for a few days, and finally we are back at a family name and I think it is where we were meant to be in the first place. Well I love all your names. You must be like me and love the color Red. My husband says "why did we waste a good name on the dog (her name is Mabel)"
We still do not have a name ourselves though. Can't agree on anything. I love Scralet, but it just doesn't work with the last name Butler (if you have read Gone with the wind)
AimeeandBrian 10-18-2007, 02:11 PM Delilah Louise. D-Lou for short lol
yogachick79 10-18-2007, 02:13 PM Nope, at least nothing definite.. :lol
For boys is a bit easier because DH and I see eye to eye:
Cameron George
or
Lucas Andrew
For girls it's "always" been Ava Priscilla (Priscilla being my paternal grandma's name, we were very close and I've always wanted to honor her that way) but now DH is not so sure about Ava (knows not to fight me on the middle name though :lol)
He calls daily with other names. Today it's been Rachael, Vanessa and Samantha.
GooeyRN 10-18-2007, 02:18 PM Not really sure yet. I am thinking Vivian Ann for a girl and Andrew John for a boy.
LittleBrownDog 10-18-2007, 02:20 PM GREAT names everyone!!! :D :D :D
We are 99% sure on Elizabeth Marie. Elizabeth is my sister's name as well as both of DHs grandmothers. Marie is my mom's middle name and my Nana is Mary, so it's a nod to her as well. Grace and Anne are still in the middle name race, but I have been leaning heavily towards Marie lately.
If we somehow missed a penis on the u/s :lol he will be Benjamin Scott. Scott is DHs middle name, and Benjamin is the only boy name we can agree on!
TulikaEma 10-18-2007, 02:25 PM We don't have much in the way of names. I have been sure for over a year that when I have a boy, he will be named Kalev--but DH and I have yet to come up with a middle name for Kalev. We have a short list but nothing that we love. If its a girl, we have a short list of first names, no middle names and nothing that we really love. We kind of figure it will come to us after the babe is born. We named our dog after we got her, and that worked out well. She's Coco, a name I never would have imagined choosing, but it fits her perfectly and its hard to imagine any other name for her--so we figure the same fly by the seat of our pants thing will work out for this baby (because you know, having a baby is just soooo much like having a dog :wink).
It doesn't help that I do 19th C German history, so come up with names like August Wilhem and Dorathea Lucenda, names I love but that DH thinks are far to stearn for a child... :)
Undercover Hippie 10-18-2007, 02:28 PM Nope, no name yet. And I am tired of everyone asking me that! :irked::lol
We are leaning towards Ronan Wyatt. I'm not completely in love with it but it's the closest we've come so far... hopefully when he is born it will fit. Otherwise I have no idea what we will do!
Like a PP we "wasted" a favorite name on a dog (Xander). Darn it!!!
Before the u/s we had pretty much decided on Phoebe Claire for a girl. So if we get a surprise, we are prepared (at least with the name. I will still have to have someone quickly go wash all the pink clothes that were left in storage in the basement LOL).
kgrfcharlton 10-18-2007, 02:31 PM Heck NO!!! Dh & I usually don't get on the ball & decide until labor starts. Dh needs that pressure to get him serious about the name game. I'll tell what I would name mine if didn't have to worry about Dh's opinions.
Braque Isaiah for a Boy
Zoay Faith for a Girl
maisiedotes 10-18-2007, 02:31 PM How do you pronounce that mama?
It is pronounced mah-RAYD (rhymes with "parade") although DH tells me it is often pronounced MAY-REED (no accent on either syllable)... people already think we are saying "marie" so I really accent the D.
ETA: her nickname is Raedie ("raydee").
melissakc 10-18-2007, 02:42 PM Abigail Marie, Abby for short.
It's the only name Dh and I could agree on. I have a LOT of names I like better but she is his daughter too, so I had to compromise. I'm less than ecstatic about the name, but at least we've finally decided. And once she is born, I'm sure we won't be able to imagine calling her anything but Abby!
I don't think I've ever mentioned that we're having another girl!
boogiemonster 10-18-2007, 02:45 PM We've had the first names in place for a while and we're still on the fence with the middles. I've got to give a shout out to DH for choosing both of the first names. He's responsible for a boy middle and I'm in charge of the girl.
Girl: Lucy Mae
Boy: Alistair Scott
Although, all that may still change. I'll hang on to Methuselah as a backup. :lol
Bonawich 10-18-2007, 02:52 PM Nothing here yet either! And I'm 38 weeks tomorrow! Eeeekk!
Apryl Srissa 10-18-2007, 04:04 PM Our girl name has been picked since '96 lol If it's a boy, well, he can be Baby I guess, it took us months to pick the last two boys, and we haven't even considered any this time, as 3 u/s have all said girl lol
She'll be Nianna Pearl (Nia for short)
chubbycheeks 10-18-2007, 04:16 PM Our baby boy's name is Sam Emmitt!
De-lovely 10-18-2007, 04:43 PM It is pronounced mah-RAYD (rhymes with "parade") although DH tells me it is often pronounced MAY-REED (no accent on either syllable)... people already think we are saying "marie" so I really accent the D.
ETA: her nickname is Raedie ("raydee").
SUPER cute! Love the nickname.....
strawberryfields08 10-18-2007, 05:04 PM We are still up in the air but have semi agreed on Jack William.
William is my dads name who passed away and I have loved Jack for a first name forever. It is just now growing on him. But that could all change in an instant with my DH! So we still call him the baby until birth when it is set in stone. Although secretly I call him Baby Jack!
I LOVE everyone's names! What a great thread!

Great name, thats DS1 name :wink and I used to call him Baby Jack all the time!
GinaRae 10-18-2007, 05:42 PM I have a Jack too! (Jackson)
A cousin of mine named their son Jaxon.
Isaac'sMa 10-18-2007, 05:57 PM Although, all that may still change. I'll hang on to Methuselah as a backup. :lol
Yeah, and as an added bonus I think of it as a gender neutral name! :dizzy: :lol

I LOVE the name Jack/Jackson! Always have! It makes me wish we had a different last name. When your last name is Dover, you have to be very careful about what you name your child. :lol
mittendrin 10-18-2007, 06:57 PM Niklas, no "O" !!!
Not sure about the middle name yet. Possibly Aaron or Julian.
wwisdomskr 10-18-2007, 07:13 PM Kids are so dependent! I mean...GEEZ...why can't they come up with their own #$% names?!?
scheelimama 10-18-2007, 07:14 PM Well, I told everyone that this baby is coming in approximately 2 weeks since dh and I started tossing up names again. We were settled, but with all of our babies, we have changed our minds in the last 2 weeks. :lol
So, we were settled on Piper Noel, but dh decided that if we name her that, well...we would need a little drummer boy too. :lol Okay, so I'll concede on that one. I loved the flow of the name before he said that, but now it just doesn't work.
Piper is still a strong possibility for a first name, but not sure of a middle name.
But we are also tossing up Gwendolyn, Gwenevere, and Gwenna (my favorite I think) and...haven't had a chance to discuss this with dh yet, but I really like Gwenna Eve.
If it's a surprise boy, he may leave without a name, since we really haven't discussed boy names since my u/s at 20 weeks. But Brody and Brady Philip were at the top of the boy list.
scheelimama 10-18-2007, 07:15 PM I LOVE the name Jack/Jackson! Always have! It makes me wish we had a different last name. When your last name is Dover, you have to be very careful about what you name your child. :lol
:lol Having a good laugh over the name Jack Dover. :lol
Googy 10-18-2007, 07:22 PM Our daughter is named Caitlin....something or other. We are totally uninspired with middle names. I think we should take a name from DH's family, since DD's middle name is from my side, but there's not much to choose from!
GinaRae 10-18-2007, 07:53 PM :lol:lolJack Dover:lol:lol
We have a lot of fun with Jack's name. It lends the greatest nicknames and funny things.
We keep trying to convince him to be a light switch for Halloween. The switch would be in the off position.
No one would really know we were being naughty but us. But boy we would have a lot of laughs and feel like we hadn't lost our cool just 'cause we're parents and getting old. :p
myjulybabes 10-18-2007, 08:31 PM We finally got our list narrowed down to a reasonable number, so I think at this point, we're just taking the list to the hospital and seeing what she looks like when she's born. So the short list is Zoe, Quinn, Erin, or Amelia. Dh and I each have our favorites, but nothing is absolutely screaming "this is THE name". No middle names picked yet. :dizzy:
One good thing about all the extra u/s I've been having though-- we're quite sure she's a she, so we aren't worried about the fact that we've got nothing for boys names! :lol
chrysalis 10-18-2007, 08:36 PM Sheamas Bodhe or Sheamas Grady
YankeeMomInVA 10-18-2007, 08:43 PM We're all set...
Brennan William it is!
GinaRae 10-18-2007, 08:49 PM ...the short list is Zoe, Quinn, Erin, or Amelia. Dh and I each have our favorites, but nothing is absolutely screaming "this is THE name". No middle names picked yet.
Some of your names would sound good together as a first and middle:
Zoe Quinn
Erin Amelia
Amelia Quinn
Quinn Amelia
Erin Quinn
Amelia Erin
I just love Quinn. I really like Amelia too!
gwinna 10-18-2007, 09:05 PM I think we might be getting closer... but I'm still not quite there.
We both still like Indigo, for either gender.
Indigo Ada (nickname Indi)
Indigo Elliott (nickname Digo)
You might have ready my post here about the meaning:
http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=771521
Ada is the name of the town in Oklahoma where my mother was born and lived her childhood years. My grandparents are buried there.
So that's what were thinking, but still not locked in...

Da WIC Lady 10-18-2007, 09:29 PM We've had a boy name for almost 3 years. Joseph Neves. Joseph for his grandfather (and if my father wants to think it's from his middle name...) and Neves for my maternal grandfather. DD, Audrey, is named for my maternal grandmother. We're still working on a girl name just in case we have another girl. At first, we were thinking of feminizing Joseph to Josephine, but it doesn't quite feel right. I've been thinking of running a few of my RPG character names by DH. My all time favorite character I named Lillian, Lilly for short. Though if the child had the personality of the character, we'd be in for a wild ride.

:spitdrink I didn't catch this either until this morning! :rotflmao I needed a laugh. Though when I was reading Gina's other post, I was just hoping she wouldn't name her child Benjamin, Raleigh, or Roland. Momma Aimee 10-19-2007, 11:17 AM Aimee, I'm glad that you didn't give in to the pressure to use Earl!
We will see
nothing is final.
DH kinda bought up "well we could do Charles Scott and maybe that would work, not great, but" literally he stopped talking.
when i bring up my middle name choices -- edward and samual being my top two -- he makes jokes, so i know he isn't taking either of them ....
but we've never had the "this is it" discussion -- i am just going with it .....

DH *just* decided on the boy middle name last week. We were SO stuck! After a while, you just plain run out of names!!!
I LOVE the name Hannah -- I have a lot of kids to birth before i run out of names, DH tells me "we don't have to keep having babies just cuz we have names we like" :lol
BarefootinBrooklyn 10-19-2007, 11:40 AM We haven't told anyone in the "Real World" yet, but we've got Matilda as a first name, and are still going back and forth about the middle name....
He likes:
Cate
Hope
Hannah
Sadie
I like:
Autumn
Sky
Rain
Bea Or Bee
Daisy
Maris
Shea
Joy
Or maybe we'll just come up with it on the day she's born, get inspired by some aspect of the birth day...
Taradactyl3 10-19-2007, 11:45 AM We have three we like and we'll decide when we meet him. The middle name will be Daniel after my grandfather. First will probably either be Wesley, Clark, or Conrad. It's really hard to decide but I'm hoping I'll just know right away when he is born what to call him.
Tara
isosmom 10-19-2007, 11:47 AM I think we've finally decided on Dahlia Lynne for a girl and Ronin Walker for a boy.
pixiedust 10-19-2007, 11:53 AM Rohan for a boy and Arwen for a girl :) Now I've just got to wait and find out which it will be :) (sooner rather than later would be nice)
gamitzer 10-19-2007, 03:17 PM Speaking of last names you have to be careful with...my brother had a friend with the last name Doff. You really hope someone with that name would stay away from Jack! (Though I love the name Jack myself.)
