My nephew was born Saturday! Lots of good stuff to tell, but I thought you'd all enjoy hearing this: so my SIL used "respite care" on Sunday night for 4 hours so she could sleep (she hadn't slept since Friday, had a huge tear, etc.) and the nurses asked her if they should bring baby in for nursing or if they could give him a few cc's of formula. She OK'd the bit of formula since he was already nursing well for his age and she was so spent. She literally doesn't remember that day! So the next day, the ped. comes in to check him, and when he heard that she had allowed formula, said, "well...OK, just this once - but don't do it again!":lol
A refreshing change.

I had the same thing happen. 3 days of contractions-very, very little sleep and blistered, bruised nipples. AND an emergency c/s. I was a mess. They offered, I allowed it. But the ped came in the next morning, read the chart got upset. Actually raised his voice-said-You gave him formula?? I explained why and he got mad and said " DON'T..DO..IT..AGAIN!!"

He was less angry when he heard pumped-but still not happy with me.

Then when I told a nurse that I was upset-she said he's touchy about bf b/c his wife had a breast reduction and could bf any of their kids.

Little did he know how serious I was/am about bf. Ahh well, I'm sure he sees it all.
