From API (http://www.attachmentparenting.org) : In many cultures it is considered normal and expected for parents to sleep with their children. Only recently has research shown the benefits for babies, such as reduced risk of SIDS. API advocates safe bedsharing: that means the parents are not using drugs or alcohol, and have a safe, firm mattress. If a parent is not comfortable with the idea of bedsharing, remember the key is responsiveness to the child's nighttime needs.
