I know we've sort of done that as we've joined up, but does anyone want to do an official stats sort of thread with the standard name/rank/serial number stuff? How about

screenname
real name (if you're comfortable sharing)
#pregnancy for you
EDD (or due month if you don't want an exact date)
where you plan to birth
other children/birth stats
other stuff I'm missing?

And then we'll get it as a sticky.

The following is a list of members and the post number where each intro can be found.

I so relate to that. sometimes I'm glad my family is so far away.

other children/birth stats: one son, artificially extracted early in August 2005 after freestanding birth center plans went awry (I am still very bitter about this :hopmad)

I have PCOS so I am really sweating the first trimester, although my first pregnancy was totally uneventful aside from HG. My biggest fear about this pregnancy is not miscarriage, though (somehow I feel that I will be okay in that regard, although I still worry about it a little). Rather, it's that last time I had a radically insufficient milk supply (probably IGT, maybe PCOS-related) and I never did get very much milk despite LCs, round-the-clock nursing and pumping, etc. I would love to be able to EBF this baby but I am trying to be realistic and remind myself that breastfeeding doesn't have to be all or nothing (my mantra last time while I was measuring formula and crying my eyes out). Anyway, I am trying not to worry about this as it is still a long way away.

So I had this idea that I would have everyone's stats on the first page, maybe in order of either EDD or alphabetical username, that way we can all see at a glance, but that is getting pretty unwieldy. What do you all think? Should we pare it down a bit and just put essentials, or should I just leave it how it was and let people search the thread for everyone?

mama to 2 girls
10-31-2007, 12:02 PM
I am thinking either in alphabetical order of username or just leaving it the way it is.....Whatever is easier! :)

other stuff I'm missing? Currently, I'm a SAHM, LLL Leader, and do lots of other v-teer work, but mostly am shuttling my ds back and forth to his new school this year...

quarteralien
10-31-2007, 01:27 PM
Okay, so how about this: I'll list everyone on the first page in alphabetical order, and list the post number where your intro is. That way, if/when things change, like due dates, where to birth, etc, you can update it yourself, and also elaborate on your intro if you want. We'll try that for awhile, but I'm definitely open to suggestion!

EDD July 6
where you plan to birth: hopefully at home, we meet with a HB midwife tomorrow night, but either way, definately with a midwife.

other children/birth stats: Brycen, born 2/19/03, 34 week stillbirth, Elijah, my two year old, born July 30th 2005, two weeks early, unluckily for me I went into labor two weeks early while my MW was on vacation....major bummer.

other stuff I'm missin: another nurse here. I work full-time, for now, hopefully part-time once this LO is born. I'm really hoping this LO will BF, we had latching issues(thanks to crappy hospital support) and I pumped for 15 months. Looking forward to really trying babywearing this time around. Really praying that this baby sticks, I've had cramping for one week now, and its making me sooo paranoid. I called my hospital mw today for HCG and progesterone levels, just waiting on results.

EDD: I don't know! Check my chart and help!!!! I would say mid-July.

where you plan to birth: Want to birth at home. I think I'll have a hard time finding MW's around here. I do know some people who know people who've HB'ed in the area. The problem is we are keeping this pg a secret for a few months....so I can't ask without being found out. I'll be using a FP MD who is super low intervention in the interim.

other children/birth stats: Summer, 18 months. Born at a hospital with momma laying on her back! Spontaneous ROM, labor slow to start. 18hrs. later, started Pit. 6hrs. later an epi :bag: A few hrs. later she was born! Believe me, this mama is armed with info now, tho!!

# pregnancy: 2 (maybe 3 - possible m/c in 7/07)

EDD: early July (between the 4th and the 8th)

where you plan to birth: Homebirth here we come!

other children/birth stats: Ds1 - Joey, 2yrs) was born at FSBC but it closed and I really had trouble with laboring away from home - I sat in rush hour for an hour, waited alone in the FSBC for 2 hrs for the 2nd string midwife to show up, then she "coerced" me into breaking my water 30 min after she arrived to "speed things up" so i could get in the tub....my healthy ds was born at 9lbs 8oz 1.5 hrs later to a very torn up mama....needless to say we are making plans for a homebirth this time around.

other stuff I am missing?: I am a new SAHM (used to be a WAHM until last month) and I think its harder than being a WAHM...where oh where did my adrenaline go? :p

where you plan to birth: i want to birth at home, but i'm going to have to find a midwife who will come up here, and i have to convince dh(the biggest challenge!). if not i guess i'm stuck in the hospital.

other children/birth stats: gabriel, born in the hospital, lots of interventions and drugs. ick. 26 hours. bad all around. beth, also in hospital, but with a midwife, completely natural. only about 5 hours of real labor. :) i had a miscarriage in may, at 3 months. it was a full labor that lasted about 6 hours(longer than dd's!) and was very intense! but i did it all at home by myself.

other stuff I'm missing?: i'm a sahm, we're unschooling/eclectic homeshcoolers. i'm feeling kindof nervous about this baby after what happened last time, but trying to stay positive! i have a much better "feeling" this time around, so i hope that's a good sign!

I work at home, professional seamstress and crafter. I'm a big fan of all things natural and feel like I get more crunchy every month. We'll birth at home, and might even consider UC, depending on how things go.

We just moved into a wonderful old farmhouse, that I love, even if it needs lots of work.

I'm hoping this is the second of many more to come and have even been considering having a couple close together, despite my previous reluctance to consider such an idea.

Oh, and one last tidbit, I'd decided this month to take a break TTC and wait till next year to avoid the summer heat -- obviously thats just what we needed to make baby happen. ;)

Where you plan to birth: The million dollar question. The BC near me closed; I'd love to HB but have to weigh that against the cost. HB might mean one less month of mat leave, making it a tough choice. We're also waiting to hear if its more than one (fert. treatments) and if that's the case, I am strongly leaning towards hospital w/ my former MWs

#pregnancy for you: 3rd

EDD July 23rd, 2008

where you plan to birth: ?
Had planned two homebirths which both ended in c-section. I'm afraid I'll have a hard time convincing any doctor of anything but c-section this time. After last birth, my doctor (who advocates homebirth) suggested next birth would be a c-section but not scheduled. I should go into labor first then go to the hospital for C-section. We'll see! It's emotionally and intellectually difficult.

other children/birth stats:
DS 35 months was 9lb 6oz, 22 inches at birth.
DS 16mos was 10lb. 3oz, 22 inches.

EDD (or due month if you don't want an exact date): July 6
where you plan to birth: At a hospital w/an OB
other children/birth stats: Samantha was born in 1999. She was 10 days overdue. I went into labor and then it stopped, so we induced with pit. I had a very long, hard labor (27.5 hrs.), pushed for 3 hours, and she was posterior so at 8 pounds 14oz. she was STUCK. Had to have a c/s (knocked completely out because I'd vehemently refused an epidural earlier and it was emergent). Tevin was born in 2004 after almost 2 years ttc. My water broke 16 days early and I went to the hospital. Never did go into labor on my own. Pit again. Successfully VBAC 20 hours after my water broke with my 6lb 10oz boy. Most AMAZING experience of my life, but I don't think I'd try it at home because I fear something going wrong. Plus, we have an awesome Birthing center at our hospital and our house *really* isn't set up for homebirth.
other stuff I'm missing? I graduate college in December (hopefully) with my BBA in Accounting and Finance. I'm SO looking forward to sending Tevin to 4k and having some 1-on-1 time with the baby. I loved my 1-on-1 with both kids when they were babies. I guess that's the plus to spacing them out so far.

Both were hospitol inductions. Pit & epi, no cuts no tears, no trauma.
Both pregnancies I had hyperesmisis and lost ALOT of weight (not having alot of weight to spare to start with either). Both pregnancies I started freaking out about being "alone" during labor, Dh being out of the country or state etc etc.. and got induced on and day after due date.
This time I am having mid-wife led care and am birthign at home. I am hoping the more natural options will help me cope with the HER, the freaky endsttage paranoia, and since I'[m at home I'll be away from meds. :lol

We hope to BF, will be cloth diapering again, I'm anti-vax, and I've no idea what the rest of my life will look like come next summer, right now I work two part-time jobs and go to school-Dd comes with me to work when I nanny, and I work for a paper at night when Dp is home. I love children and am grateful for every single unique one that I am blessed with (Note, they are NOT notches on my belt). I lost my first "born-still" child last year at 18 weeks. I lost my 4 year old daughter five months later, due to brain damage from a previous near drowning.

I have had all my previous children at home and intend on having any future children at home as well.

I have been married to the love of my life for over 18 years now and plan to be married for another 50+.

#Pregnancy for you 7

EDD July 3.

Where you plan to birth Birth Center or home, depending on where that is

Other children/birth stats Stephanie (2/13/95) Hospital birth, 31 hours w/ epidural... Alexander (7/8/97) Hospital birth, 7 hours, w/ induction and failed epidural... Kimberly (10/27/98) Hospital birth, 27 hours, w/ failed induction and failed epidural - I gave up on the hospital at this point... one early-term miscarriage in October 2000... Thomas (3/25/03) Birth Center birth, 16 hours with midwife... Gabriella (9/19/05) Homebirth, 105 hours - you read that correctly - with every known herbal labor stimulant and midwife + best friend's support...

Other stuff I'm missing? Wow, where do I start? I've been a member of Mothering for some time, but haven't really been active. My best friend has been a member on here for years, and introduced me to it. Unfortunately, I have not been able to be in touch with her for many months due to the interference of my abusive husband. He and I were separated last year, and I was tricked into going back to him (I accept responsibility for that), and as a result there has been too many unresolved issues between my friend and I. Anyway, I have gone back to work outside the home, and was hoping to gain enough independence to break myself and my two children I have with this man free of the destructive relationship... then a few days ago I learned that, despite my efforts to keep him at arm's length, my weakness of about six weeks ago has resulted in yet another pregnancy. So, now, as we are preparing to move our 4-person family into a cramped, 2 room apartment (2 rooms, not 2 bedrooms) due to financial issues, I am searching for a second job while the controlling husband does not work at all.

But I don't mean to complain. Mostly I hope to find friendly interaction and support here, not so much sympathy or anything like that. I'd like to be able to take my mind off the negative aspects of the situation and concentrate on the very real positive points... It's important to stay focused on that which is beneficial and good. I look forward to participating, though I will only be able to do so while at work. Blessings to all... I am glad to be here, hopefully amongst friends.

other children/birth stats: Colwyn, born Feb. 11, 2007 by emergency C-section.
Miscarriage 2003 followed by almost 3 years of infertility. Apparently that is not a problem anymore!

other stuff I'm missing?: I'm hoping to get as much info as possible about VBAC. I would love to have 4 children but I do not want to go through any more C-sections! I hope there won't be complications because I got pregnant so quickly. I will be looking into my options for midwife, doula, and other support. I will continue breastfeeding as long as I can.

I have been doing quite a bit of lurking around this site, and hopefully I can do a little more contributing...! Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories!

other children/birth stats: Dec. 2002, my almost 5 yr old was born at a freestanding birth center, 45 mins after we got there, it was much more manageable than I expected (my main goal was to see if I could get through it without begging to go the the hospital for an epidural, and it never got anywhere near that). He was 5.5# and 36 weeks, and it was the most amazing day of my life.

Nov. 2005 my now 2 yo was born at home, I switched to HB from the birth center at 33 weeks because I just could not see doing that drive again in labor and wanted more freedom and control over my own care. We found an awesome and empowering lay midwife, and the baby came so quickly (much more intense this time!!) the mw wasn't there yet and it was just my dh and I home. Again, it was amazing and incredible, to have no interventions whatsoever during or after the birth and do it all on my own strength with just my dh there to catch him. OH, and he was 7.5# which to us was huge after my first peanut!

#Pregnancy: Second, but will include birthing two babies! so three altogether
EDD: July 8th, but will most likely deliver earlier
Where you plan to birth: Not sure yet, would love a homebirth, but some things might change the closer we get

Other children/birth stats: Owen, just turned two last week. We labored at home and delivered at the hospitol with a midwife. Total labor was about 5 hours and very intense. He was born about 4 days early. No drugs, vacinations, or circumcision for us, which is a pretty big deal in my family since we are actually jewish.

Other Stuff: This twins things is totally unplanned for us and quite a shock still. I am a part time teacher and my wife is a the manager of a local store so we were not prepared for the expense of a large family. But we will make due. I live in the same town I grew up in, with most of my very large family here too. I love my ds #1 so much...we got to use the same donor for these babies, so I cant wait to have two more just like him....of course I do know that they will be their own personality and all, but at least we know that they will be cute :wink

#Pregnancy: 5th
EDD: July 18th

Where I plan to birth: That's kind of up in the air. We're doing an unassisted pregnancy, which I would like to end in an unassisted homebirth. But my husband wants to go to a hospital at the last minute, and I have agreed to that.

Other children/birth stats: Um, let's see... I have two all-but-legally-adopted step-children, who I have raised since they were 2 and 3 years old. Aryanna is 9, and Aoghdan is 8. Then my son Seamus, who was born by unnecessary c-section and is now 5. Next is my son Hamish, 4 years old, my first VBAC. I had him in a hospital which I later learned to have an absolutely awful reputation for too much intervention and a high c-section rate. They wouldn't let me make any decisions about that birth, including whether to have an epidural and how to lay while pushing. The nurses were so convinced I was going to have a c-section that they were actually setting that up when I gave birth. My daughter Sinead, who is 2, was a UC homebirth. Her story is long and there were complications that led to us calling 911, but I believe that because everything happened so fast, she would have died if I'd been trying to get to a hospital or if we hadn't prepared ourselves for potentially dealing with an emergency on our own. Then there's my 1yo, Aisling. I had an unassisted pregnancy with her and then we decided to go to a hospital because we were uncomfortable. The first hospital wanted me to have a c-section, just because I had had one with my first baby. The second hospital wanted me to be induced, but I managed to put them off and give birth without it.

Other stuff: Well, I guess the only other thing is the whole, are we or aren't we having a homebirth. At first my husband was dead set that he wanted an OB and a hospital this time. He agreed to find out about a midwife, and seemed ok with that. Then we discovered that our insurance sucks and we would have to pay a LOT for either one, so now he wants to do what we did last time. I am wondering if there's a chance he'll go one step farther and let me give birth at home. Also, I am really upset that everyone in Houston is so anti-VBAC. Only 3 out of all the OBs I called would even let me try, and 2 of them felt the need to constantly qualify everything they said, making me feel like they had absolutely no faith in my ability to give birth. Also, all of the birthing centers in this city are forbidden to do VBACs, and a midwife at one of them was telling me that the study they were going to do with a university about the safety of VBACs was canceled because their accrediting board doesn't want them to do it. Further, I found out that the c-section rate in Houston right now is 50%! That is just unbelievable!!

EDD (or due month if you don't want an exact date): July 29th (according to my calculations)
where you plan to birth: Hospital- the same one where I delivered my other children
other children/birth stats: Zachary (02.28.00) hospital birth 7 hours w/ epidural, Alden (01.14.05) induced hospital birth 4 hours w/ epidural, Eleanor (04.19.06) induced hospital birth 2 hours w/ epidaurl (although if I had it to do all over again, I would have skipped the epi since labor was so short)

other stuff I'm missing?: I am still a little in shock to be pregnant again- Eleanor is still nursing a ton at night and several times during the day so I am extremely nervous how that is going to work out in the coming months. My previous 2 births were induced because my DH was travelling for work and it was really the only way we could insure that he would be there for the births- with each birth was at least 4 cm when I arrived that the hospital and had wonderful experiences with my births. I now that they are not what many moms on MDC chose for their births but it worked for us.

Kaiser with a low c-sec rate (10%), high VBAC rate, midwives and lots of other things I like. My Mom had some major birth complications with me and I just don't feel comfortable with doing home birth yet. If all goes well with this one, will definitely consider homebirth for possible future children.

where you plan to birth: Hospital with crunchy "they can't ovverride me if I tell them you can eat in labor" midwife OR freestanding birth center. Both within three miles.

other children/birth stats: One son, just turning 2.

other stuff I'm missing: labor was so easy with the first one (born naturally 6 hours after water broke, 4 hours after I said "I think that's a contraction") that I'm afraid of not making it to the hospital. Recently moved across the country. Feeling much more constantly queasy with this pregnancy, which might just mean I'm not in the shape I was in last time.

where you plan to birth - hospital, an hour from home with an OB I love

other children/birth stats - DD, October 04 and DS, August 06

other stuff I'm missing? - my first two births were LONG. #1 was 31 hours of "nonproductive" and then 24 of "active". #2 was "only" 19 hours. Through them both, my OB stuck with me (heck, with #1 SHE spent 12 hours in the hospital with me!) :thumb and both ended up in healthy vaginal births. #1 I ended up with an epidural just so I could sleep. :eyesroll, #2 was drug-free. Still debating if I'm up for doing that again with #3.

other children/birth stats Brenten will be one on the 29th of December, he was 2 weeks post dates, breech, and pretty well stuck. He was unfortunately a c-section birth, but, I do feel like it was the right decision even if it did suck.

other children/birth stats: Kaeleigh just turned one on November 28th. She was 9lbs 3oz---after 23 hours of labor. I really hope this next one is quicker!

other stuff I'm missing? This pregnancy was rather unplanned, and I'm kinda having a hard time coming to grips with it. Is that really bad? Have had really horrendous morning sickness with this baby, which didn't have with DD. So that's been fun.

other stuff I'm missing? Rather unplanned, but we'd decided not to prevent. We were mostly surprised that we got pregnant so quickly when ds took over a year of charting (and even longer of "not preventing").

EDD late July

where you plan to birth home w/ the midwives I had for #1

other children/birth stats Erin, 16 mo born 8/16/06, 10 days after her EDD (hence being vague above for this one!). Weighed 10lbs, 22.5" long PLUS a nuchal hand (her hand @ her chin) @ birth - my back-up OB said "wow, you really proved your pelvis!" (I wanted to say "duh, more women would have the chance if they weren't laying on their backs, strapped to the bed during labor & birth!")

other stuff I caught the first pp egg! I never had a pp af & haven't had a period since 10/05- crazy huh?! I lived in Australia from 1999 to 2005 & trained as a direct-entry midwife there. Now I live in PA & am in nursing school- will graduate in May- wOOt!

No, really, I'm hoping for another boy. That's my hubby, wanting a girl.
My name is Kathy. And this is my 4th pregnancy. All 3 prior pg's are boys. My edd is July 16, but my babies all came early. Perhaps this one will be a 4th of July baby. I am planning to have my first home/water birth. I'm so very excited about that.

I had an ultrasound on Friday and we were thrilled to see our very active and healthy-looking baby girl! After being sick and tired for months, it was nice to see what I'm going through all this for :)

Holy jeez...I just realized I've never posted an introduction despite my ever-presence. I lack regular brain function these days. :down In my defense, I didn't know my due date for sure until week 16.

I am due July 4th (the day after my brother's birthday; as pointed out to me a half a million times by my sister :lol). Obviously the baby will be loved; but we all have hopes for the sex. The baby's father wants a boy; I want a girl and DS wants a girl. The ultrasound showed that it's 99% likely to be a boy; :storkboy I say that we won't know for sure until showtime. :W

If baby's father gets a say in the end; this baby may end up being named "Thor" whether it's a boy or a girl. :help If DS gets a say; the baby will be named "Optimus Prime" whether it's a boy or a girl. :rolleyes Good thing for baby that I get final say. :mischief

What else...?

Apples give me the burpies; and whomever invented grapes, pears and sleep are my hero. :drool
