Mods: I put this is TAO instead of pregnancy because it's a question directed at anyone who has ever experienced pregnancy, not just those who are currently pregnant. Also, it's not really as much of a question, as it is an observation. Still, I'll take the slap on the wrist if this truly is the wrong forum.
I thought I was crazy when I was pregnant with ds. Anytime the kid moved in a particularly strong way, I would hear and feel a snap/pop. It feels/sounds exactly like it does when you pop your knuckles. I've popped my knuckles underwater before, and the sound is actually exactly like that.
When I was pregnant with dd, it did happen, but not nearly as much as when I was pg with ds.
ds was 9lbs at birth
dd was 7.8
I'm getting those same popping/cracking noises with this baby, too. Especially when he/she stretches out. It's really weird. Other people can hear it too.
Anyone ever experience this?

Yes, I heard something like that. I never knew anyone else that did - everyone thought I was crazy and hearing things!

I have heard this question before in a different place, and the mamas who said they had experienced it speculated that the pops and snaps were from the baby's bones and joints popping. Weird huh?
I don't know if thats true, or how you would find out for sure, but that is what I have heard.

I've never experienced it, personally. But I did read about it in my pregnancy with my first. My books were pretty main-stream then, so it was probably an Ann Douglas pregnancy book (definitely don't think it was in WTEWYE). It was no biggie - just something with ligaments and joints adjusting.

yes, but I always chalked it up to my hips or pelvis adjusting from the movement.

I experienced this quite a bit with my last baby. I don't know what it was, but I don't think it was the baby's joints cracking because the sound never occured after he was born. To me, it sounded more like the sound my amniotic sac made when it broke with my first baby, only not as loud. Tell me that's not weird! :lol My water did spontaneously break in the middle of the night (during a thunderstorm) with my last baby, too, so perhaps it had something to do with the sac pulling away from the side of the womb...I don't know, I'm just making stuff up now. :wink

I've had that frequently with this pg, but it never happened with the last 2. I've wondered what it is too, but I keep forgetting to ask my OB about it at all my appointments. It's very odd. I don't think it's the baby's joints or anything. I have had a lot more and stronger BH contractions this pg than the last too , as well, but the popping doesn't really seem to be related to that, either.

YES! With DS and with this baby, movement from baby and I hear a crick, as if I were cracking my knuckle.

ok so I read this a few days ago and didnt comment since I have not experienced this but just a few days ago I noticed a kinda cracking noise too. Not sure if its the same as what you ladies have experienced. Im 19 weeks and for the last few days I have felt really sore down there...I cant really explain it. And I feel a bit of pressure. It doesnt really hurt but its enough for me to be aware of it. It kinda feels like right after you ride a horse kinda sore. At any rate I feel it more when I lay down and when I try to get comfortable and move around when I feel it most I hear that cracking poping noise. Does anyone else feel the same way with the soreness? I asked my dr about it and she didnt really say what it might be but said if it gets painful and starts contacting to call her. This pain though is not off and on..its constant. Im not too sure what it is and thought it just might be the baby moving and since it is getting heavier maybe all I feel is the pressure from the babys weight.Im not sure, but I thought I would post it here and see what you all thought. Thanks.

hey me again. So Im hearing more and more of that cracking. Although I am convinced that its my hips not the baby. i feel the baby move just fine without any of that cracking and then when I move then I hear it. Anyone else feel this?

The cracking, not coming from your own hips, is from the 2 bags of water rubbing together like 2 pieces of seran wrap. Its perfectly normal. I've experienced it almost every pg, sometimes I hear it all the time and others just once or twice.
The nose in your hips, pubic bone could be SPD (symphsis pubic dysfunction) and I would read up about what to do because it can get very very painful. I have it and you def want to do everything you can to correct it asap.

why would some one have 2 bags of water...unless possibly twins I guess. But I was under the assumption mamas where hearing this cracking with just a singleton. im a bit confused.
