View Full Version : Questions about omega 3s, herbal progesterone boosters

Hello! I just found out I'm about 4 weeks pregnant with DC2 (fingers crossed). When I was pregnant with DD, I didn't take fish oil or anything, but now I would like to increase my omega 3s with this one -- not because there was a bad outcome last time, but just for good measure. I know flaxseed oil is a no-no while pregnant. Is there any other sort of oil or pill that's good for omega 3's and can be taken while pregnant? I loathe fish and hesitate to take fish oil pills (even those made from lower-mercury species), because I hear there can be a horrible aftertase. I guess I could also eat lots and lots of walnuts -- or are those out, for that same reason as flaxseed?

Also, I have no history of miscarriage, but I'd like to help DC2 stay in there if I can. I've heard there are some herbal and/or topical things you can use to boost progesterone. A few questions: What are those, and how are they used? And also, if I'm already making enough progesterone (I have no reason to believe I'm not), would boosting my production actually be harmful, or would it be a good preventive measure?

Thanks!

Marilyn

Hi,

I take Nordic Naturals DHA which contains fish oil but it also has a strawberry essence added to it. To be honest, I have never tested the fish oil, sometimes the strawberry essence comes back up when I burp though.

I don't know about progesterone boosters. I was concerned before I conceived this dc that I might have low progesterone so I took an extra b complex with my prenatal. I had my p4 tested at 18 dpo and it was at 47. Not sure if there is a connection though!

Congrats and good luck.
