i'm just curious if there are other vegetarian/vegan mamas here in our ddc. i'm lacto-ovo-veg and have been for 10+ years. we have one dd (2/16/06) who's also veg, and has been since conception. :D dh is omni, but very respectful, supportive, and knowledgeable about veg-living, and usually only eats meat when he's at work or we eat out.

can't wait to see how many other veggies there are here! :carrot:banana:broc:

I am a veggie and have been all my life (besides some experimenting.) Right now I am ovo-lacto, but I try to eat dairy and eggs in moderation.

I'm not currently veg, but I was vegan for several years before I fell pregnant with my first son. I'm starting to feel a pull towards it again. (I never actually *decided* to go vegetarian/vegan before, I just relatively suddenly developed a flesh food aversion)

I'm a failed vegetarian. I was until I got pregnant with #1 and then I craved turkey sandwiches like crazy and couldn't eat my beloved faux meat products without hurling so I started eating poultry again and never stopped :bag: I don't eat red meat or pork though my children/husband do if we're out. Our deal is I don't say anything but I won't cook it for them.

That's me too. I don't buy milk or butter, but I sometimes buy cheese and yogurt, and when we eat out I am often tempted.

Lacto-ovo vegetarian for 9 years here. Dh too. Ds and dd have always been. We are trying to cut down on dairy but that cheese gets us everytime :innocent.

Memememe!!!!!! :lol My family is onmi though so I do end up tasting things that I am cooking for them and on rare occasion eat scraps. But I am easily 98% vegan. Trying to go more raw and more alkaline but weird pregnancy cravings and tastebuds are not helping.

I just started lurking in the July DDC moments ago, so I thought I'd post...I only just got a faint + this afternoon, so I'll be testing again tomorrow morning. Still in complete & total shock!!! I'll let you know tomorrow if I'll be officially joining the club...
But I've been vegan for 15+ years and my 3 boys are also vegan.

yeah, cheese is an unfortunate weakness. i cut dairy out mostly during my last pregnancy, and my ds still ended up dairy intolerant for a while, so i didn't get to eat dairy at all for like two years.

basically i'm thinking i should go ahead and have it while i'm pregnant. heh.

i'm with all of you that just can't kick the dairy habit. i try every now and then, and we don't eat a ton of it, but real butter, cheese, and ice cream are three things i just can't live without. so i make concessions by buying organic and always looking for an "ethical" option (i know it's never as ethical as they make it sound, but it's the best i can do).

when i was pg with dd, i had a major "i'm dying for bacon" attack once while we were eating out. it was so strange to want it so bad, but know that it's dead pig. luckily, dh knew i would have had a serious case of buyers remorse if i went through with it, so he talked me down from that meaty cliff. :lol that's really the only time i was ever tempted during pg. really, it's like any other craving, it will pass if you divert your attention to other things. (for me that diversion just happened to be a salty crunchy bag of potato chips :shy)

i'm looking forward to getting to know you all! :D

I am definitely having some strange cravings... I figure if I fall off the vegan wagon I will just try to get back on the next day. I'm really worried though, I think I should remove "vegandom" as my location just in case!

I'm also having strong aversions to greens, which I depend on for calcium :(.
