I enjoy the weekly threads. I can keep up better, LOL. What a week it's been for us. Nothing tragic just a ton of ups and downs! I'm anticipating my violantly ill stage of pregnancy and trying to organize things now but I feel like I'm taking one step forward and two steps back. Ugh!
How's everyone feeling?

ekblad9- Oh, me too, as far as anticipating being ill!! I feel great, just a bit more tired. I figure I have a little time yet, as it usually kicks in for me at about 6 weeks through 12.
You've heard of feeding the freezer for baby's arrival, I'm feeding mine in prep for the morning sickness so my family gets a half decent meal. Also trying to get a little more organized around the house. DH is awesome, but just not so hot with picking up the slack with domestic chores. The place goes to heck during those 6 weeks. Hoping I can keep some order this time!

Your husband sounds a lot like mine. Great with the kids and such but not so much with the domestic chores . Lucky for me I have older kids that can at least clean bathrooms and vacuum. Still, things unravel really quickly and it drives me crazy!

hey! well, i have no morning sickness yet. with my last two kids, i was sick before i even tested, so i'm thinking so far, so good. and i just found out today so i'm still kind of high!!!
also, i can't get sick (lol) cause we have guests coming in about a week and a half and i have some major cleaning/organizing to do around the house before they get here. AND, i want to be able to have a good time while they're here.

Ugh, I feel awful. Can not stop um, going to the bathroom. And I don't mean #1. I have crohn's disease and usually pregnancy knocks it into remission (so much so that I went off my meds when I was pregnant with #1 and never went back on) but this time? Killing me. Living on the toilet. Awake now while everyone is sleeping anticipating another return. Sigh. I'm used to migraines while pregnant...I'm hoping I don't get those too!!! I made an appointment for acupuncture this week, hoping it helps.

Oh, yucko :( I'm sorry. That really stinks.
I'm up at this late hour still doing stupid laundry. It never ends. I really should go to bed but I also want to finish.....

I like weekly threads better too - can I jump in? No major sickness here either yet...with ds1 I was on Zofran most of the pg and still ill for the entire time - well starting at 6 or 7 weeks I think.
I am just wiped out bigtime....but yet...suddenly I cannot sleep past 6am which is 5am pre-daytime savings shift which is really really odd for me...usually I am a night owl.
Oh and the pulling and stretching is in full force - I already have a bump and had to go up a size in pants that I don't think will last me through the end of this week - but of course I am too small for maternity pants (I hate hate hate spending money - grrr). And of course I am the complete opposite season this pg so none of my old maternity clothes fit right. You know I went to a maternity store this weekend to look for some slim-fitting maternity shirts and the store clerk heard my due date and looked at me like - Are you even pregnant? - ugh....so embarrassing but whatever...well fwiw, Old Navy has really stretchy low-rise cords that are really comfy right now (if you go a size up :p)....
So yeah ekblad9 - I too have a neverending pile of laundry and I am off to again try to tame it - I think I do at least 3 loads a day - but we are just three - I cannot imagine if we were many - props to you mama!
mrs rockstar - have you ever heard of the book Patient Heal Thyself by Jordan Rubin - I am not sure if you could adopt all of his principles while you are pregnant but I know he recovered from Crohn's Disease - some of the info in there might be helpful...hope you get some relief....

I was feeling some slight ms last week, but not much any more. It did pop up yestuday after being around some strong scents. I have been eating healthier, so this may be a factor. Otherwise I have been feeling really good and happy about this pregnancy, and I plan to savor every moment.

Daylight savings killing anyone else? My kids are up at 5 30, ugh :dizzy:

So far I am feeling fine. This is my first one so I have no clue if I will get morning sickness or when it will start. Defenitely feeling weird twinges in my abdomen. I am calling the dr this morning to schedule my first pre-natal appointment.

This looks like fun!
I am almost 6 weeks along (with my 1st!) and so far not a bit of morning sickness! The 1st midwife I saw said if I make it to 8 weeks without getting sick I should be fine. Crossing my fingers. Got on the scale today and it said I actually lost one pound but none of my pants fit right now, it's no fun at all! I don't know what's going on or what to do about it. Money is tight so I don't want to go buy all new stuff, but unbottoning my top button isn't always practical! Could it be baby bloat??
I have my 2nd interview with midwife tomorrow - I liked the first gal but she'll be on maternity leave right before my due date so that's a little risky.
The first few weeks my boobs were SOOO sore, now they are still tender but not bad. It's kinda sad I don't really have many signs of pregnancy -- I wanna feel pregnant damn it! haha - my DH says I shouldn't rush it, before long it will be unmistakeable.
I am super tired all the time though, so I guess that is a sure sign. I've taken an afternoon nap almost every day last week, and we are in bed by 8:30 or 9 at the latest each night.
OK. . .that's all for now!

I thought I would join in here too! :) I can't seem to keep on top of all the new threads! :lol
:hug's to all the momma's who are feeling bad.
I feel pretty awful today :(....had a sinus headache all day yesterday and all night and it is still here! :irked: I ended up having to take some Tylenol this morning and wrap a heating pad around my head...otherwise I wouldn't have been able to funtion. I HATE this time change, it really screwed my kids schedules up! They are up WAY to early for me! :dizzy: I feel a bit quezy this morning but I am hoping it is just because of the headache and dizziness...I tend to get nauseous when I get headaches so I am hoping once my headache is gone the nausea will go with it! Otherwise up until yesterday I have been feeling fine. :)

I'm glad that I'm feeling well - of course, makes me wonder if I really am pregnant cause nothing is different. I didn't find out until much later last time, so knowing so early is a new experience.
I started working out a couple weeks ago and plan to maintain my routine for now, so I'm wondering what that'll do to my energy levels and how my body will react.
One thing I noticed after a week of exercising, is that my body was seriously needing to replace all the calories I was burning. At first I thought it was my body being stubborn, but now I think it was just taking care of itself. Good thing I listened (and ate to replace them) because my body did, and does, need them.

hi all! i'm missing my TTC thread, so i figured i'd jump in here! :hug to everyone who's not feeling so hot. i'm hoping that this pg will be even easier than my last in the m/s dept. last time i started feeling crappy around 8-9wks, and started feeling better around 11-12wks, so maybe this time i won't feel bad at all, or it will be even quicker. i never actually got sick last time, i just felt like i wanted to. our family doc does hypnosis, so i'm planning on calling him immediately if i start to feel barfy. i can't wait to get my box of maternity clothes out and pick through it. i have some stuff that's "transition clothes" from last time for that annoying phase where none of your normal clothes fit, but maternity clothes still look rediculously large.

morning everyone :)
Lets see... Hope I can keep up with a weekly thread this time :lol
I haven't had any ms yet, but I am constantly queasy, have an excess of saliva that I am controlling with lots and lots of sips of water.
I thought I'd be super tired, but it seems that I am the opposite this time (so far!) I have insomnia and seem to wake up every hour and half or so all night. Its annoying the heck out of me, heh. I try to nap with my toddler does but I usually only fall asleep for about 30 min then I am up and wide awake again.
We told our kids this weekend about the new baby coming, DH wanted to wait until we told everyone at Thanksgiving but I thought they should know first, I didn't want them to feel left out if they found out at the same time the grandparents did. They reacted differently than I expected. Really didn't even bat an eye. LOL! I guess it will hit them later :wink
I need to make some phone calls today and see about interviewing midwives. But, I have no idea what to ask. I mean really no idea! I am sure they expect me to have this long list of questions but I am very relaxed this time and laid back and feel like I kinda know what to expect anyway so really as long as everything is ok, why worry... :lol I guess I'll ask around some of my local mamas who are seeing midwives and ask what they questioned :o
Anyone else stuffed up? My nose feels awful, time to break the neti pot out again I guess...

Well found out last night from a pg test that I was pregnant and then took two more this morning (one regular one digital) and both came out positive. I've been feeling great just been having more of an appetite lately and also been getting up early around 6 or 7. With my past three girls I have gotten really bad ms and migraines but this time I am choosing and going to do everything possible to make sure I dont get ms lol. I have a little more of a tummy but a lot has to do with my tummy being stretched from other babies lol, but since its my 4th Im sure Ill start showing by Thanksgiving lol

i'm feeling pretty good so far. just today the tiredness hit me though. i had to pull my self out of bed after laying there for 1 1/2 hours dozing off and on. doesn't help that it's finally gotten chilly here, and i just don't like the cold!
smells are really bothering me too. i get super smell sensitive when i'm pregnant. that has deffinately kicked in! i'm hoping the nausea will leave me alone this time!

OOh, a chat thread! Good idea!
I'm still feeling good. I wasn't sick at all with DS, and with DD, I just had a sort of food aversion to all food for a little while. But no puking, thankfully. Mega sore boobs though, especially when DD latches on. And I'm still spotting a bit. Normal for me, but quite obnoxious. And I'm 5 weeks today.
I don't know when I'll call a midwife. I have to get in touch with the underground homebirth midwives here, and it's of course a round about way to them. I'm also considering talking to one of the CNM's I had last time, even though she only does hospital birth, just to feel like I"m covering all bases. But I really have no desire to have a prenatal appointment anytime soon. I don't see a point. I can pee in a cup for them and have them say "Yup, you're pregnant." And I'll say "thanks see you next month." Doesn't sound appealing. I'll probaby bite the bullet and do within the next month, or maybe six weeks.
My in-laws called the other night and said they were coming to the area to visit DH's brother and family who live in CT, an hour and a half away, and would like to see us too. I hadn't planned to tell them until after Christmas, but if they'll be here, it seems like it makes sense to tell them when they're here. :irked: I dont' like doing that. It's our secret right now. Oh well. I have 10 days to figure this out.
Wow, that was longwinded. :innocent

I am feeling a sense of impending morning sickness doom...I'm already feeling rotten but I feel like it is just the tip of the iceberg. When is it supposed to peak? (Last time I was sick from about 4 weeks until, well, birth, with about three good weeks in the middle. I'm hoping this time is better.)

mchalehm--did you have hyperemesis? i was reading a thread a while ago about that, and the OP was saying that they've (the medical community) has just figured out it's linked to either the same or a similar bacteria that causes ulcers. i believe it was called h. pylori, but don't quote me on that. whatever it was called, the doc can test for it through blood and it can easily be treated with abx. i saw it in the "i'm pg" forum if you want to try to look it up. hth!

Hmm--I'll have to check that out, Pazerific. I did have HG and it was awful. The doc I had told me that they don't know what causes it. But then again that practice was pretty conservative so if it's new research they might not buy into it. I have a different OB now; I'll ask about that. Thanks!

With my 3rd pregnancy I was very sick until 26 weeks. I took the Unisom/B6 combo and it helped somewhat. But I could keep water down, so nobody really cared :( .
So far I'm feeling great. We'll see what happens as the weeks progress.

morganstar83- 4th times the charm!! I had three girls and the 4th was our boy. Not that we cared but whenever i see someone with three i tell them they gotta try once more at least. But then everyone thinks now that we got our boy its time for us to stop...........I just say,"Hey i need two more boys to even it up!" If its a girl i am sure you will be so excited as well. i love how well my three play together and hope our fifth is a boy so my little guy will have someone to play with.
As far as I go I am sick as a dog!! My mother got really worried and said that i was so lethargic! Finally after a week she asked if i was pregnant. I was like, duh what took you so long mom!! I actually wasnt going to tell her till my DH came back from a trip but really wanted the mommy sympathy at the same time. IT worked, today she came over and cleaned up my dirty kitchen, it was so bad i didnt have a single clean peice of silverwear! Now i am good to go but feeling like a bad mommy. I have been sleeping while they watch movies. I usually get morning sickness early and it last a couple of weeks and is over so i am hoping its the same this time.
Anyone doing anything to help yourself feel better?? i am thinking of taking b-6 a few times throughout the day to see if that helps. one night while i was making dinner i felt so nausous that i carried around a bottle of lemon juice to sniff. that helped a little?

i am excited about the weekly thread. I'm feeling pretty good, i gagged this am on my cereal but was able to pull it together and eat. last preg i threw up 2 or 3 times and that was it, fingers crossed for that luck again.
i am just going thru this crazy 'nesting' thing right now, i HAVE to get my WHOLE house in order, decluttered NOW. i have been working like a madman throwing stuff away like crazy for some strange need to be 'ready. i just started today on my scrapbooking and DS1 baby book (that is not filled out-he is 17 months old :duck:) . i am glad about it, my house has never been so clean but my MIL says its my body telling me i am having multiples and wont ever be able to do this stuff again! next on my list is my smaller maternity clothes and tranistion clothes. i ahve so many clothes boxed up but i need them!! i have regular non pregnant, trasition to mat. clothes, mat clothes for a whole preg. transtion out of maternity clothes (my DH calls them fat girl clothes :irked) i try to explain that i really can't clear them all out unless he wants to buy me a new wardrobe for every size i hit from now till next septemberish

Ok I want to join in!!! I really am not very good at weekly threads but I promise I am going to try. Well this will be baby number two and to say the least DH and I are so happy. Although I have to admit that finding out comes with more challenges like know statistics of MCs in the first trimester. I took for HPT and they all were BFP but I still wasn't sure so I went to the doctors today and it was a BFP too. I can't help but worry still. I wish that there was something I can do to just calm down. It is funny because my symptoms come and go and everytime I start to wonder if something is wrong I start to feel sick, or my breast hurt, etc. I just think it is funny how my mind just keeps play tricks on me. I just talked to my local midwife and I wont be meeting with her for another month or more so we'll see!:D

:wave glad to be meeting all of you mamas! I just have a quick minute to post while DH and DD are in the tub!
I've been feeling great although today I noticed my soup at lunch and my sweet potatoes at dinner tasted....off. Like there was another funky taste there, just couldn't put my finger on it. DD, DH and I made celebratory brownie sundaes tonight though and no problems there! :yum I need to chill on that, tho!
Breasts haven't been feeling to bad, I was a little worried that they would be killing. I've been having a little aversion to nursing at night, tho. Of course DD is having an aversion to being unlatched at night :lol
Hope everyone continues to feel well!
pazerific and mchalehm: In order to test for H. Pylori it is a sample from the stomach...well for ulcers anyway. I'd be in terest to learn more b/c I have a friend who's had HG in the past and she's been :Puke the last few days.....

I also worry non stop in the first trimester. Then I hit the second and I still worry. When my brother's wife was pregnant with their first I was pregnant with our fifth. We were due around the same time. My brother kept saying he just wanted her to get past 12 wks. I told him that even when you get to 40 wks, have the baby, get baby past SIDS, etc you stilil worry. You just have to let go. Being a parent is so hard in that way, IMO.
I'm feeling pretty good still. I usually get massively sick around 7 or 8 weeks until around 14 wks. Not looking forward to that. So I am also doing early nesting b/c I want things relatively in order before I get too sick. Especially since I'll be sick for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I need to get everything set.
I'm eating avacodos like crazy! I swear I could eat them like an apple, LOL. I was like that with tomatoes with one of my babies. It could be worse, right? I have no taste for anything sweet right now. I'm sure I'll still gain a million pounds as I always do.

Ugh, me neither! I wasn't too bad with DD, but that means nothing! We are also hosting DH's grandma and uncle for a few days then doing Thanksgiving dinner at our house with BIL and SIL. (Definitely planned that BEFORE BFP!) We want to keep hush until we send out holiday cards so I'm worried about keeping it a secret....not that we can't keep our mouths shut, but I'm afraid of not being able to keep the food down! Especially with them staying with us, it may just be obvious....we'll see. I'll be about 7 weeks then and I think I was still holding my own at that point last time.....
BTW....I'm up waaaaay too late! My sleep is so out of whack! I fell asleep at 930 and got up at 1130 or so, started cleaning and stuff (getting that early nesting going, too!) Now I'm wound up and can't sleep!

The sickness is just starting to creep in. I had it up to about 24 weeks the first time round and my whole pregnancy with no.2... :( ...am hoping that it won't be as bad this time and have even invested in a morning sickness hypnotherapy CD.
Apart from that my boobs are very painful (warm baths seems to help) and I'm very sleepy. I'm also cleaning like crazy! lol

Hopefully sleep comes back in line for you. I ran into the issue that I planned to test this morning, just as a second reassurance that I'm not crazy (ha), and had a hard sleeping because of it.
I woke up, was sure it was morning, took my temp and went to the bathroom and discovered it was only 11pm. Back to sleep, woke up again, repeated the process, sure it was morning, and the clock says it was just half past midnight. Argh.
Finally I managed to sleep till 5am and was happy to see that second line is much darker now -- I can be somewhat reassured this is indeed it. I'm also confident it'll be staying cause I really didn't want a summer baby, so of course I'm gonna have one. :)

Hi all! :grouphug
So nice to come out of lurking & post officially! I'm Claire, I have an almost 6 year old son, an almost 2 year old daughter and a 3 1/2 year old daughter.
I'm SCARED of hyperemisis hitting again this time. I was very very sick my last pregnant (the other two were pretty good) - I vomitted until I delivered & the first 4 months, I was in and out of the hospital. I lost 22 lbs between week 5 and 9. :( Ugh. I was just so sick.
So this time, I started prepping early (Thank goodness, because this was a suprise babe) because were talking about maybe TTC in December.
:fingersx: Please, please, let us all be healthy!

Last night ms really hit. I had to run to the bathroom to puke, but nothing would come up. I finally drank some juice and took a shot of sublingual b-total, and I felt better. I never had ms with my son, so this is all new to me. If I am starting to get sick at 4 weeks, I am worried about how I will feel in the next couple weeks when it begins to hit full force.

Hey everyone!
No morning sickness yet, but extremely tired, which is normal for me when pregnant.
Although, I will say that with each pregnancy, the nausea was progressively worse each time; so I'm NOT looking forward to that.
I've also taken about 4 tests, because I still can't believe that they are :+ !!! It seems too funny to me that we are having another baby, my youngest is 22 months and my period just returned last month and now....:+!!!

Good morning everyone! I should be able to handle a weekly thread. I am feeling OK here but like some of you I have this weird insomnia thing. Not sure if it's my body or my mind just not being able to slow down. Boobs are sore right now but that could be because dd has been sick :Puke and nursing like crazy. I also suffered from horrible m/s (all day/night for 9 months) during the last two pregnancies and have been feeling "off" every once in a while which I'm sure is my body's way of preparing me for the inevitable. I'm going to get a plan together today so I can start treating it before it hits. It would be nice if I didn't get sick but I would probably worry if the nausea wasn't there. I know every pregnancy is different but it would be unusual for me.
I have the first introductory appointment with the midwife tomorrow. I had a regular doctor and hospital births for my first two dc. They were good births but I am looking forward to having a more intimate relationship with someone this time around. Especially with it being my third. I know my doctor would just be so routine the whole pregnancy because I've done it two times before. But I still really want to enjoy the whole thing and be excited - kwim? I'm almost positive this is my last pregnancy. Plus I would like to consider a homebirth (need to convince dh) this time around.

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new here on MDC, so I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. I am 5 weeks along with #2. So far no really strong symptoms. Some mild nausea here and there, mild pulling and stretching in the old abdomen area. Not too tired yet, not too hungry. I did have a little dizziness/ blacking-out/ mild fainting thing happen today at the library. I was wearing ds, and fortunately I was able to support myself on the bookshelves until I regained composure. I thought for a minute me, ds and tiny dc#2 were going down!:yikes:

To the gals with no symptoms, I hear ya! With my first pregnancy I had no symptoms for quite a while, then I was STARVING all of the time. I don't really have any symptoms now either - just a bit tired and I did have heartburn last week a few times.
Oh yeah - the cramping and pulling too. How could I forget those growing pains? :lol

Yikes! So sorry the morning sickness has started for some of you!!! I don't even want to think about it. Hoping it stays away a bit longer for me!
I was fairly sick with my first, but nothing compared to the terrible sickness with my 2nd. I lost 15-20 lbs with her before 12 weeks.
The symptoms are starting to kick in for me. I can't seem to drink enough and I have to eat every 2-3 hours or I'm starving. I don't eat much before I'm full, but in 2 hours I'm hungry again. That's not like me. I've also been craving things like dried fruit and such and the idea of chocolate is just...ick. Also not like me.:lol I was just so tired last night and was in bed by like 8:30. I would've liked to beat my girls to bed, but had to get them in first. Oh, and the peeing, and peeing, and peeing...
I didn't ever really want a summer baby either. Mainly the thought of being 9 months pregnant during a south Georgia summer. The pool is gonna be my best friend! A benefit is that Lexi will be off for summer break, so I don't have to worry about a 6am school routine and so on. We just decided we were ready and it happened to be a summer DD, so we said what the heck.

i'm so happy to be having a summer baby. i love the warm weather too. ds was born in sept and i had the best summer pregnant with him. with dd, who was born in feb, i spent the whole time shivering and just uncomfortable because of the cold. i hated, hated, hated going through labor in the cold. i got a chill on the 45 min car ride to the hospital(think below freezing snowy mid feb at 1am) and i could never get warm after that. i spent my labor under 6 blankets unable to move because i was freezing. ugh. i do not want to do that again! bring on the heat in july! lol

No ms here, I didn't have any with DD, but I know how things can be different from one pg to another, so I'm not making any assumptions. I am SO TIRED, which is really what tipped me off about being pg this time, plus the minorly sore nipples.

I didn't want a summer baby. DS's birthday is July 2, and I didn't want another July birthday. I was hoping for May. I've had one summer baby and one winter baby, and i wanted spring this time around. Oh well. I'm just happy to be pregnant again anyway. I just hope DS won't share a birthday with the new babe.

oh, on the subject of summer babies. my dd's birthday is in july. so i really don't want her to have to share a birthday. my other concern is that our house does not have a/c and it gets surprisingly warm here. we do have cold air return, though. it sort of helps.
yeahs, it's the lack of a/c that makes me dread summer. when I get hot, I'm just miserable and don't want to do anything. but, I do love the idea of laboring outside, and would love to birth outside except our lot is wide open to the neighbors and road. maybe I'll plant some quick growing hedges as natural fences. :)
also, july will now have to share our wedding anniversary (2006) and my birthday. i never liked summer birthday's because no one was ever around to have a birthday party - of course, now that i'm a momma, I hate having birthday parties and dd has only had two - 1 thrown by her grandma when she was 8 and her most recent one at home and we made the girls all sleep outside in the tent (and out of the house, aka, semi-quite for me).

I am definitely in the queasy phase, although so far it's manageable, not like last time. (I think I was farther along when it got really bad though.) Anyway, I'm teaching every day and chasing my just-started-walking toddler, so I don't have the opportunity to lay around and feel sorry for myself like I did last time. I have to say, though, even if I'm not actually unable to eat like last time, queasiness makes it really hard for me to work on my dissertation.

I also was not wanting a summer baby (well, we were TTC so I guess I kinda wanted one!) I also get miserable and don't want to do anything in the heat. I too really want to birth outside. I just have these thoughts of birthing outside in a tub in some gorgeous warm weather with a breeze and bright moonlight....I'm going to go check out when the full moon is in July!!
July is good timing as far as the garden goes, tho. Mainly just watering and weeding at that point! And DH will be out of school for my last month of pg and first month having 2!! There is pros and cons no matter what the timing!!
Ugh, starting to feel a little quease going on....I'm going to the store tomorrow to stock up on little snacks (and Spark's suggestions! Check out the post r/t MS if you haven't already) Last time if I kept snacking healthfully I could keep the quease at bay. We'll see this time!

Hope everyone is having a good day! I was so excited for my 1st midwife appointment today but she had to call and cancel. Someone decided to have a baby today - the nerve :lol. I'm not sure when it will be rescheduled. It's just as well. Dd has been sick for 3 days now and I took her to the doctor today and she has a double ear infection. So, the more rest we get the better.
I have started a little regime of b6, vit C and milk thistle to hopefully help with the all-day m/s I usually suffer in my pregnancies. So far I just have moments when I don't feel so great but it's still manageable. I need to get out and pick up some great snacks to keep me going throughout the day.

Let's see...
increased salivation, not fun! I soak my pillow in an hour :p I think I am going to use the baby wool blanket with a flat diaper inside of it and lay it on top of the pillow! :lol
nausea. all. day. long. since 3dpo! But the milk thistle tea and eating often seem to be helping, so yay! We'll find out in 3-4 weeks just how much it helps since that is usually when it hits me super hard and then I am at it 3-8 times a day into the toilet, or a bag, until week 25 or so. Not a weight loss method I'd ever want to approve of, ugh!
Pregnancy narcolepsy *snooore* Oops, what was I doing here again? Oh yeah, I keep falling aslee......p at a drop of a hat! I am getting a lot of lil naps in which is nice and frustrating at the same time. Can I have a nice long nap instead? Like... all day perhaps?! But 2 kids to watch so no... I can't. Only one of them naps anymore!
Horny. Crazy horny. Must have sex. All.day.long. :innocent
I can feel the relaxin hormones starting to affect my pelvis. Everything shifts and cracks. YAy, heh.
Heightened sense of smells. I can smell the drains. Eeeew! :( I did some baking soda and vinegar in them and that helped tons!
My bowels have slowed down. I wouldn't call it constipation, but they sure aren't like normal, heh.
Round Ligamnet Pain.. Yup. I'm already feeling that. I forgot how annoying they are! :o Where you try to move like normal and end up cursing under your breath and pausing a moment to recover.
Crazy intense dreams and some nightmares as well, not usually related to pregnancy. Just super weird, ya know? Like dreaming there was a mountain on fire in my bedroom and I and my mother and 2 other ladies were going to put it out but first we had to teleport away? *scritches head* :dizzy:
Stuffier than usual nose. Need I say more?
Heartburn. Yuck, I actually had gastric juice come back up and into my nose when I was sleeping one night last week! I was sooo not happy about that! So I make sure to not eat or drink too much an hour or so before bed. That seems to work best.
Crying. I want to cry a lot. Haven't yet, but I feel tearful. and joyful. Especially when I see my DH with the kidlets. My heart just swells until I want to burst out in tears. :shy
Some cravings and food aversions... like i don't like the smell of red onions in teh air, but yum yum in food! and occasionly a strange craving for a food i've not had in over 7 years will come up. Nothing I can do about it but wonder what that food was because with pregnancy brain I can't recall what it was! :lol
ETA: the nipple soreness. It's not as bad as it was 2-3 days ago, but I sure am not enjoying nursing right now. I bet her just having had 3 teeth pop through the gums is not helpnig matters either! She either has only one tooth left to pop up or 5. I can't get in there long enough to determine which it is, lol!

:wave You wouldn't happen to live in Eugene, would you? My DS was born while I was finishing up my masters at OSU. I've had that exact thing throughout all my pregnancies. It's weird! Actually usually the first sign I might be pregnant because I start getting weird dreams right away. Later, I get a few night terrors. I might wake up freaking out over spiders or snakes (insert any other creepy crawly) on my pillow. I had some spotting on and off with my 2nd. It got to the point that we had to look into it. Turned out to be a tear in the placenta, but everything was just fine. I've heard many experience some spotting with no real cause found, but it certainly is annoying and can cause a lot of worry in the meantime.

With #1, whenever anyone asked what I thought I was having, I said "an aardvark". I truly didn't know, I couldn't even believe that there was actually a real live baby in there!! And it also answered the "did you find out what you are having via ultrasound?" question without having to discuss it. :wink
With #2 my midwife thought girl, as did just about everyone else on the planet (except the lady at the Thai restaurant--she always guesses right). But out came a boy.
With #3 many people thought girl again, especially because it was such a different pregnancy than the first two. But I KNEW it was a boy; I had a very clear dream that I was in Hawaii having an ultrasound. The midwife was right about him being super-cute though!!
#4 - No idea yet. I liked having a dream that told me last time, that'd be neat to have again.

Hi!
I went to visit the freestanding Birth Center in Portland last night. I met with one of the midwives who also has her office in the building and toured the birth suites. It was so much more intimate than the sterile (super intervened) hospital birth I have with my son. AND it's covered by insurance (part anyways) except for the baby nurse we will need to hire. They also offer water birth, which is great. A friend of mine I met through a baby playgroup with my son is a doula and she met me there. We really clicked from the get go so I'm pretty sure she will be assisting me.
I am feeling no symtoms yet, which makes me nervous. I am still temping and POAS ('m only 16 DPO). My lines are still not super DARK. They are there, I wouldn't say they are faint, but they are no where near as dark as the control or as dark as they were with my ds. It's very nerve wracking, and the poll about BFing and m/cing on the other forum is making it worse (we nurse 8 or so times a day). Although I do not want to go back to my obGyn, I am calling today for a hcg beta. I just need to know.
That's all for now!

afternoon ladies -- just curious, is anyone else sleeping wonderfully lately?
I am normally a horrible sleeper and can barely manage a few hours at once, much less a whole night. Getting to sleep takes forever, I wake several times and work to get back to sleep, and I'm awake an hour or so before I want to, normally.
last several days, I'm asleep before dh has finished reading and the light is still on (total opposite of normal) and sleeping straight through -- maybe up to pee once, but asleep again as soon as I lay down -- and feel like I've been knocked out all night long and it's great!
having had years of terrible sleep, this is great and I'm enjoying it as long as it lasts.

I'm usually a fabulous sleeper, but the past week I've been waking up to pee 3 times a night, and then waking extra early (and it's not just because Daylight Savings Time ended either...it's even earlier than that). But I've been using the time to get up before the boys and work on my cookbook (and check MDC of course :lol ).

Oh...I wish! I've been sleeping horribly. Going to bed early because I'm tired and tossing and turning until about 11pm when I finally fall asleep. Then I'm up from about 1am on with a nursing dd who was recently sick so she's pretty much attached. Combine that with the snoring dh, the cuddlebug ds, tha bathroom trips and I'm about to lose it. I sleep great when I can, although last night I woke up covered in sweat! I was so HOT which is ridiculous since we are in Maine, it's already 20 at night and our heat isn't on yet - so our room is in the 50's at night? I still nurse my son at night, we cosleep from when he first wakes up until morning. Last night he woke up at 12:30 so I had 2 full hours of quiet sleep! It's amazing how little sleep you can learn to live with to get by.... I think I average somewhere between 4-6 hours a night?
Which is clearly why giving up coffee is going to be a challenge.
On another note, I'm going to the Dr's today to get a HCG level drawn. I've been cramping for a week now, no blood, but last night I SWORE my AF was starting. I've been calling them since MOnday begging for the blood test, finally yesterday afternoon they gave in...

I had this problem in early pregnancy when I was pregnant with my son. I never did get much help from the nurse-midwives I was seeing. They just said to take Imodium AD. I ended moving and switching to a homebirth midwife, but if I had stayed I probably would have looked for a new midwife.

Drink a lot of water too. It lowers your blood pressure, which should help with any bleeding. I've been trying to flood myself. :lol

They usually do 2 draws because the most important thing is to see the numbers go up. they are supposed to approximatley double every 48 hours I think?

They are - but my Dr gave me such a hard time about it and they finally said OK - we will do ONE draw and if there is an issue we'll do two. So they gave me the results and then called back and said they wanted me to come in for the 2nd one on monday. :irked:
So I don't know - I'm changing Dr's anyway, I'm not pysched that it took me 4 days to finally speak to someone about doing a blood test (I've been cramping since last Friday!)

I think I need to trust my body more.
I had this unbelievable desire to POAS. I got a BFP at 13 dpo, which was nearly 2 weeks ago. We were at the mall today and I stopped at the dollar store and bought a test, for the sole purpose of seeing that fat dark positive line. My last one was pretty faint, and not nearly as satisfying as this one. So I think I've sated the urge. :lol:o

I feel the same way, I keep joking to my DH that I should go buy another test, "just in case" he thinks I am crazy, but with all my other pregnancies I had m/s by now, and this one I am just tired and queasy but no pukes, and I should be thankful but it worries me :(

I've taken about 15 tests! LOL. I bought a whole slew of those thirty cent sticks from a coop on DS and they were horrible! Barely there lines, almost evap, disappearing, etc. I bought a FRER digital and it was VERY satisfying as well!
I did pick up a few dollar tree ones - to test every few days to check if it was getting darker. Just because I clearly have issues with trusting EPTS!

Exactly the same here. Except I did POAS again and got a very quick dark positive. But I worry because I'm not suffering from the full blown sickness early on like I did the last two pregnancies.

Hello, joining in the DDC. I got a very unexpected :+ a week ago so it's still sinking in. But I've loved my previous DDC's from '02 and '05 and we are still a strong group of friends, so I am joining this one right from the start!
Still not fully convinced that the BFP will eventually lead to a BABY, I alternate between "OMG, what are we going to do, how are we going to manage 3 kids" to "this isn't going to work out anyway so don't get ahead of yourself".
I also want to take tests daily!! I got 2 faint positives, and because I'm cheap I haven't tested again! But obviously I haven't gotten my period, and I had my first day of nausea so that's pretty telling.

afternoon ladies -- just curious, is anyone else sleeping wonderfully lately?
I am normally a horrible sleeper and can barely manage a few hours at once, much less a whole night. Getting to sleep takes forever, I wake several times and work to get back to sleep, and I'm awake an hour or so before I want to, normally.
last several days, I'm asleep before dh has finished reading and the light is still on (total opposite of normal) and sleeping straight through -- maybe up to pee once, but asleep again as soon as I lay down -- and feel like I've been knocked out all night long and it's great!
having had years of terrible sleep, this is great and I'm enjoying it as long as it lasts.
Can we be friends???? I have had horrible, lifelong sleep problems, which have been exponentially compounded by having children. My 5 yo DS is a terrible sleeper, so I'm woken up constantly. I've tried every sort of natural and herbal treatment over the years, and nothing works. In the past few months I've finally resorted to prescription meds which has been a lifesaver.
For 3 days now I've gone off caffiene entirely and I've had the best 3 nights of sleep ever!! I have no idea if it's the pg, or the caffiene but I'll take it while it lasts! I had horrible pregnancy insomnia the last pregnancy, I was miserable!
Anyway it's nice to know I'm not the only one! And, I'm in MD, too! Near DC. Where are you?

My DH was very pleased with her answers to his questions and he left with a smile on his face so thats good :) Plus she was super sweet to my 3yr old and talked to her, not down to her. I appreciate that :D

My tummy is HUGE! I totally look like I'm 5 months pregnant. Only, not really, so I probably just look fat. I hate that!

Yeah, I really try to minimize the meds (esp. now) I hope I can avoid it as much as possible during the pregnancy. But, I feel like it's more dangerous to have to care for 2 children, and drive, on 2 hours of sleep a night than it is to take 1/4 an ambien once in a while!
Definitely trying to up the exercise, but it's tough. Basically all I can do is walk, so I try to do it as much as possible. And yoga once a week.

Good morning everyone!
And.....so it begins. The nausea that is. I knew it was on the way but I forgot just how yucky it actually is. christinespurlock - my nausea is there all day but most definitely in the evening. I end up going to bed just to try to find some relief. I'm only 5-1/2 weeks and I know that it will be a good 3 months before the worst of the nausea and vomiting is gone and then I'll still have underlying nausea until the end of the pregnancy. My 1st pregnany I had so many people telling me "don't worry, after 12-15 weeks you'll be back to normal". They eventually stopped saying that once I just started glaring at them :lol.
I also have very sore nipples and of course, dd has decided to nurse constantly including nighttime. veganf - sorry you're feeling sad about your ds not nursing.

Yes, for the past few days I have been feeling the worst around 4-5pm. I think it may be when my blood sugar gets low between lunch and dinner. The nausea makes nothing sound good to eat, but then when I do eat, I start to feel better. I've been drinking RRL tea -- I think it's helping the nausea a bit.
I am starting to crave strange foods. I won't say what I bought yesterday as it might gross-out nauseous people. I ate it last night-- but the thought of it this morning is making me sick.
It's weird how I can be so sick and hungry and not hungry all at the same time.

That's how I am too. I spend most of the day feeling nauseous and not wanting to eat but forcing myself to eat timy amounts. Then, all of a sudden, I get this tiny window where the nausea breaks for a second and I just need to pig out on something. I've been going for comfort foods. Last night I ate a huge plate of spaghetti and salad. Today I'm making rice pudding.
