View Full Version : Wisdom teeth and mercury filling removal while breastfeeding

Hi, ladies. I've sifted through the archives, but I still have a couple of questions.

While I was pg with my second, I had my one and only mercury filling re-filled (I broke the filling on a popcorn kernal). That tooth has never really felt good ever since. That was 2 years ago. I went into the dentist yesterday and I've got like 10 cavities (some in that same tooth). Apparently, my morning sickness during my pgcy with #2 really did a number on my back teeth--they all have cavities. Now I'm wondering if the mercury made my morning sickness worse.

Anyway, I'm going in Aug. 21 for my first batch of fillings. Since about half of them are on my wisdom teeth (all 4 came in with no problems), I'm thinking of just getting them removed. I can't use them anyway due to my crossbite (meeting with an orthodontist tomorrow).

My dentist has agreed to remove the mercury filling and replace it with the white (what's that called, anyway?). I am breastfeeding my 16month old. What's the mercury toxicity dump like? How long should I pump and dump? What can I take to reduce the toxicity? Should I avoid removing that filling even though it bothers me? I work as a doula and have a client's due date coming up. Is there any danger to her or her baby by having the mercury removed? What would recovery feel like?

I'm not sure if I should remove my Wisdom Teeth or not. My mouth is crowded and I suppose my orthodontist will tell me what he recommends. I'm not a fan of removing body parts willy-nilly, but these do have cavities and I don't really have a use for them. I think they'll only be more prone to decay during future pregnancies, too, due to my morning sickness.

If I get my wisdom teeth removed, Arnica the day of and after, right? And hydrogen peroxide rinses? Should I do that after fillings, too? What about other boosters for me and my nursling?

Thanks!

I don't have too many answers for you, but....
Have you seen this post about mercury removal??
Supplements etc...
*If you can, find a biological dentist who will do a drip IV of vit.C.If
not, mega doses of C before hand and after the procedure almost
to the point of saturation but DO NOT take C by mouth the day
of procedure as the C taken orally will detoxify the anesthestic
adequately to let you feel the pain of drilling or surgery. Then
1000mg C daily for the next 3 months.
*Good doses of chlorella before and during, but not after as it
moves the mercury too rapidly for the body to eliminate.
*Vit.E to protect the brain.
*Cilantro to mobilize the mercury.
*Glutathione & a good mixed amino to chelate.
*Garlic
*LOTS OF WATER!
*Super important-bowel elimination 3x daily-90% of the mercury
is eliminated this way.
*Lots of nuts-yummy
*NO dairy or sugar
*Sauna baths 2 or 3 days following the removal-important!
*If your appointment is broken up,make sure the appointments
are schedualed on alternate week days so it does not land on the
7-14-21 lymph cycle.Also 48 hrs. between appoint.
*Also hepar sulph.6c prior & after. It draws the mercury from the
jaw etc..

dental protocal-
*If there is a window in the dental room, have it opened.
*A rubber dam is a must.
*Have a saliva ejector placed under the dam to wick off any
mercury vapors that penetrate the latex.
*Have an alternative air source!**
*A high volume evacuator tip should be used at ALL times 1/2
inch from tooth.
*Make sure they use liberal amounts of cold water spray!
*Have the dentist remove as large of the sections of amalgam as
possible.
*Have particles washed away and evacuated immediatley.
*When through, rinse mouth for at least 30 seconds.
*Have the face area washed/wiped down.
*Remove the dam before restorative proceedure.
*Have dentist change out gloves and then replace new dam.
*Change out clothing,go home, shower, rest ,then head to the
sauna.

IMO, which is not professional, I don't think this would endanger your client.....

My girlfriend had all of her amalgam replaced with composite and she had "no recovery" time. She was and is really healthy, takes good care of herself, although I am not sure what she did specifically for the procedure.

Hopefully some other experienced mamas will come thru with answers for you!!

I don't have experience with removing mercury fillings, but I do have experience with having way too many. I have gone back and forth about removing them. And what I have concluded is this, I am not going to remove them just to remove them. There isn't enough evidence that suggests that they are more harmful than the white fillings anyway. Plus a way to get an enormous amount of mercury into your system is to ingest, by either breathing or swallowing, mercury when many fillings are being replaced. Definitely not something that you would want in your system while breastfeeding in my opinion. The white fillings are made of composites that contain plastic among other stuff. To me, I don't know which is worse. But I did decide that as I need new fillings, like when my old ones break, or I need any new ones, I would get the white fillings. In fact, I just had a new filling, sigh, last week and I got a white filling.
