Gee, when I first came to the Mothering boards two years ago, there weren't any Bmore moms. Now, it seems like there are a lot of us. I am Alison and I live in Halethorpe, which is just outside the city. If you took 95 south out of the city, I am 5 miles away from Camden Yards. I have a 6yo boy, 4yo girl, and 2.5yo girl (who still nurses 10 times a day!) We are homeschooling. I had my last baby at the Baltimore Birth Center. We DO NOT watch TV! (Except for movies) Ummm... I have met a lot of cool mamas in this area, so those of you who are looking for friends, let me know! I can have a massive mama meeting.

Well that figures! I am about to move away!!

It would still be fun to have a "massive mama meeting" though. We are around through mid-September!

I gave birth at the BBC too. We have one daughter, 8.5 mos old. BF, CD, cosleep, sling, EC. Homeschooling is a probability although the schools in Vermont (where we're moving) are excellent...but I still lean toward home (un) schooling.

Oh man! Wel, if you ever do want to hang out let me know. You are lucky to be moving to Vermont! Except for the winter, I guess. I spent many childhood summers in Vermont, at Lake Willoughby, Lyndonville, and St. Johnsbury. My step-mom lived there before she married my dad and my aunt still lives there. In Calais? I think that's the name.

As for schools there, what you do is, of course, up to you, but I found a great quote in an old issue of Home Education magazine. It said something along the lines of, "You can do the school part of homeschooling anywhere, anytime, and any way you wish. But you can never put the home part into school."

Who was your midwife at the birth center? I had Eileen. And they had the most excellent student midwife, Lexi, there. She actually did most of the midwifing (I did all the real work!) and others just guided her. She was awesome. I think she was from Masschusetts and moved away shortly after my daughter's birth.

We should have a Mothering get together for those of us in this area. I know some of the others were talking about it. If not, enjoy Vermont!

I'm using the Baltimore Birth Center for this baby (due in 3 weeks). I also have a ds who will be 3 in October. I would say we're going to be homeschooling, but we really already are, as he's learning stuff all the time. But I won't be sticking him in school when "the time comes." I'd love to hang out after I have the baby.
