View Full Version : Vaccinations for Doulas

I have currently completed Elizabeth Davis' Heart and Hands Midwifery Intensive and that qualifies me to do volunteer doula work in a local hospital. I am excited about this possibility, but have recently found out that I need to be fully immunized. I'm betting this means having the Hep B vaccine, but I have researched this vaccine and found out horrible things about it - even for adults. I am also currently nursing my 19mo ds and know that there will be some leeching of the vaccine into my breastmilk. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm at a loss. I would love to get some doula experience, but am really moving towards being a midwife.

Thanks, ya'll.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
I have also thought about this issue because
I have thought about doing several things that
stated I had to be vaccinated, what I wondered
was can we use religious or philosophical exemption
and still work in the hospital... I dont know
