I should have really clued in that I was pg before POAS when I was getting groceries and bought a family size jar of pickled herring.........
It has spiraled from there...I want smoked oysters and aged cheddar on crackers. I am also really loving spicy food!
(this is when I have an appetite - if I feel ill I find that nibbling a couple salted crackers is enough to make me genuinely hungry and not sick feeling)! :-))
Is anyone waking up in the middle of the night starving too?? I thought all this stuff didn't happen until later, but 1:30 a.m. I am so hungry it hurts!

I'm having more aversions than I am cravings. The thought of most foods makes me gag.

I'm craving a lot of fruits. And carbs- I'm loving the bread. :lol Today I just had to have a Caesar salad.

I'm the same way, I told DBF last night that I need to start controlling myself or I'm going to gain 50 lbs. :lol

I've been really hungry too. Sometimes, I feel out of control with it. It's crazy. This morning though, I couldn't eat my breakfast. I forced it and about 30 minutes later I felt soooo sick.

I am NOT craving veggies if that counts. I really only want meat, beans, sweets and tons of carbs. Forget the green. :duck:

for once I am NOT craving sweets. I tried some chocolate almonds and thought they tasted stale (maybe they are? lol)
I want spicy and salty! Oh and I bought a jar of garlic stuffed green olives - so yummy!
I used to live on PB and bananas...and can't seem to find the urge to eat that anymore - not quite an aversion just no huge desire.

Anyone else getting the pg "stupids" already too? I seem to get confused and need bigtime diagrams for things. LOL And cooking and driving seem to be quite the task suddenly.

Hula, I think I am. I feel like I'm in Bizarro world. I'm trying to get it together but it doesn't always happen.

yes, I'm already feeling spun out, AND the inlaws are coming today for the weekend!!!

We don't want to tell anyone yet about the pregnancy, so I hope that they don't think I am suddenly stupid!

...I'm not craving any, one specific thing...just a whole lot of everything!:lol

perhaps we should all start taking those weekly pregnancy photos now!

ughhh, another pregnant Christmas! I LOVE being pregnant, but it is hard NOT to eat everything in sight AND not let on/look pregnant

...hmm, maybe we'll start telling people earlier than we initially thought! :o

cheers,

I'm pregnant, nursing & STARVING. I really don't want to gain 80lbs like I did with my first pregnancy. It took a whole lot of kickboxing to get back into shape!

Kellymom says pregnant nursing moms should eat until they're full... I need WAY more structure than that. My hunger gauge is BROKEN I tell you! This morning I've had 2 oatmeal packets w/ a banana & a chai with milk (425 calories) STILL HUNGRY! :gloomy::gloomy:

Well I thought I would reserect this thread since I am 7.5wks and feeling crazy CRAVINGS for CRAPPY FOOD:eat:!! Like stuff I have not eaten in YEARS. Breakfast sandwiches from McDonalds, KFC, just total crap and everything has to be covered in CHEESE. OMGosh this is just not good.

Basically if I cooked it at home and it is good for you, organic, healthy (and tasty I might add) I totally don't want to eat it, even to the point that is makes my stomach turn. This morning and yesterday afternoon I went out to :eat:, have not done that in a long time. Had a burger and fries yesterday with tons of mayo and bacon. And a Sausage, Egg and Cheese on a English this morning. Basically that is all I ate each day cause I could just not stomach anything that was even remotely good for me or made by me. I know all that horrible junk that is in each of those things, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Cured Bacon, Non organic Cheese, the list goes on BUT thats all I want:(. AHHHHH this is not good. :angry

Craving pickles, green grapes and spicy caribbean food. My fave caribbean restaurant is about 45 minutes away and I'm tempted to ride all the way across town to get it. Tonight I craved spaghetti and nachos. I bought a a jar of pickles and ate the whole thing while I cooked.

At least I'm managing to snack on healthy stuff like grapes, veggies and chex mix during the day so I dont completely blow up.

I am nursing around the clock and starving! So far I really want protein -- beans, nuts, meat and cheese. Carbs too but I have to limit those because of blood sugar. Bean and cheese burritos sound delicious!!:eat:

Everyday is different for me. I am off my spicy food kick and onto cereal. Soggy Life cereal to be exact! LOL OH, and tomatoes on toast with mayo and pepper. yum-o!
I too like the breaskfast sandwiches. With it being so hard to eat in the morning, that grease seems to entice the mouth a lot better than my chocolate instant breakfast! (and funny, my cereal doesn't actually appeal to me in the morning! lol)

I'm having the same stupid problem! If it's healthy, it really does turn my stomach. If it's so bad it's dangerous, it sounds gooooood! Somewhere in between, in the it'll-stay-down range, is where I try to eat.

And that bean and cheese burrito has me drooling over here.

Okay, ladies, a food craving CRISIS has occurred! Tonight, in the midst of some intense food cravings (and equally intense aversions to everything in my kitchen), I made a friend come and pick me up and drive me across town in the icy weather to my favorite Mexican restaurant. All I could think about was the tostadas nopalitos they serve there. I could see the meal laid out in front of me. I could SMELL it practically.

And then we arrived, only to discover that...

THEY CHANGED THE MENU.

No more tostadas. I almost started crying. Oh my...

I'm craving steak. Any kind of steak lol. When I'm not pregnant I HATE red meat! I tried to convince dh to drive into Philly tonight to get me a cheesesteak from Gino's, but he wouldn't do it (I don't know why - it's only an hour one way!). He did, however, go to the local place and get me a steak so I guess I'll keep him :D

I've been craving canned black beans. :bag: Other than that, I've mostly been noticing aversions to foods. I normally looooove garlic, but the smell makes me gag now. Same with Chinese food, fish, and anything that smells too strongly. DH ate some French fries in the house when I was gone (poor guy has to sneak his junk food when I'm not around :lol), and when I came back I smelled it immediately and forbade him to bring them into the house again until my m/s passes.

Meat has been making me gag lately, too. I was already mostly vegetarian before getting pregnant and had been toying with the idea of going 100%, but now I think my stomach has decided for me. I made a lovely dinner yesterday of spicy lentils and stewed chicken with cinnamon, and proceeded to pick out all the bits of chicken and give them to DH. I just couldn't eat it.

The other weird thing I've noticed is that I have absolutely no desire to eat anything sugary anymore. I used to love baking, but now I don't want cookies, pie, scones, or anything sweet, not even "healthy" whole-grain or naturally sweetened versions. I've been eating plain, unsweetened yoghurt lately, which used to make me shudder. And everything tastes too salty all of a sudden. What's up with my tastebuds?

Almost the same thing happened the other day for lunch. I had an INSANE craving for a KFC chicken bowl (can we say calories???) - even though I'd never tried one before. So DH takes me there and they are SOLD OUT! I actually did start crying.........pretty sad. DH laughed at me. Insensitive jerk. LOL

I've been eating guacamole with tons of salsa for about 5 days straight now. It's the only thing I'm craving. And LOTS of liquid. I'm thirsty 24/7. . . which makes sense, because I'm nursing 2 kids and pregnant.

I have been craving salty pasta. I don't even like pasta.... with salt? that's healthy!
Last night I went on a craving shopping trip and it went a little something like this: :eat:
ravioli
egg noodles
oranges
green pepers
sorbet (I was craving ice cream, but trying not to eat too much fat..)
Bagels
Cream cheese
Raw almonds (suppose to help the urge to puke?)
I shouldn't admit- Chocolate covered gummi bears.
kettle chips (wanted salt and vinegar, which I normally HATE- could only get BBQ.
Wow, this is sounding BAD!

I am normally such a healthy eater- but I do like my sweets! Usually settle for honey and maple syrup on things.

I have been feeling a little background sickness almost all the time. Haven't actually puked yet, but just have that yucky feeling for most of the day.

Complex flavors are really turning me off- my husband usually makes amazing food, last night brown rice and shrimp coconut curry- couldn't do it.... :(

Yah, salty carbs is where it's at for me.
Wish I was craving kale :o what can you do?
At this point I'm just eating what I think I can stomach.

No cravings here.

I used to be able to eat a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and I'd be good for 4 hrs...ummmm...NOT now, lol! I eat that now and 30 mins later it feels like I didn't eat.

Just like I had with DD...it's all about the protein. If I eat protein, It's all good :D

My boyfriend freaked out that I ate a whole jar of pickles (too much salt) but I was craving collard greens last night. I went to Piccadilly and got collard greens and green beans. I'm still craving my spicy caribbean food. I used to LOVE my boyfriend's black bean soup but now it makes me gag. I couldn't tell him that I couldn't eat so I choked down a bowl and threw out the rest.

I really want my spicy caribbean food. Maybe if I keep hinting at it, DBF will take the hint and take me there before our movie date Friday night.

I didn't have a single craving last pregnancy, but I am out of control with this one! DH had to run to the store last night because I NEEDED a blueberry muffin... I could think of nothing else until he returned with the goods. I have also NEEDED Mediterranean deli (falafel and lentils w/ rice) and sour cream and cheddar chips and cheese pizza. It is crazy how they come on and I can't let go of the idea until I get the food. I'm afraid of what's next!!

HulaJenn

pineapple, strawberries and blackberries with vanilla yogurt. ( i don't care that they aren't seasonal and cost a million dollars - at least it's healthy right?) and still tomatoes on toast with mayo and lots of pepper. OH and cheesy scrambled eggs.

Wow that sounds really good. I have been getting sicker each day and my list of food I can actually eat has been dropping down to almost nothing. Today I only :eat: one 2 egg & bacon sandwich and a very small bowl of pasta with olivoil and bacon. Can you see a trend. But tomatoes mayo on toast actually sounds good! THANKS! :thumb

My first craving was for packaged snow crab meat, I had to get some from the kitchen yesterday morning when I woke up at 6:20 am and then proceeded to eat it with my fingers in bed, in the dark! My second has been watermelon, which I kinda wound up feeling bad about because my husband wound up buying a 1/4 piece of watermelon for me last night at grocery store for $12.99! He must REALLY love me! Ha.

I'm fluctuating between not being hungry at all, then I'm going to have a breakdown if I don't eat NOW NOW NOW :lol I've been craving Cape Cod Kettle Chips, Boar's Head Londonport Roast Beef and root beer of all things. I'm still drinking a ton of water, so that's good. I try to snack on things like blueberries or healthy snack bars, and pickles are really really good to me now, too. I tend to lose weight the first tri, but I chalk that up to healthier eating :wink
