I just read about secondary infertility. I've never even heard about that before!
If you had an easy time getting pregnant with baby #1, was it the same with baby #2? Or did it take longer?

It took us 2 years to have baby #2. However, baby #3 was a surprise. We were lax about birth control because it took so long to have #2 that we really didn't think it would ever be easy for us to get pg when we weren't fully planning on it (we had talked about it, but hadn't decided to go for it or not). Surprise, it was - lol.
ETA - I forgot to say that baby #1 took just a couple of months.

DD1 was conceived right after we decided to TTC, it was very quick. DD2 took almost a year of very actively trying. I'm already planning ahead to #3, I highly doubt it's going to be quick and easy.

I put just as fast. Both our children are surprise blessings (meaning we forgot to use contraception, and got pregnant both times).

We weren't TTC #1, but once we set down to try for #2 in earnest with charting, we conceived quickly.

First time, 5 cycles. This time - 2 cycles. I was expecting it to take longer because I am heavier this time, but I guess I was worried for no reason!

Boys, no problem, Skye, we conceived the second month of trying after a miscarriage (wanted but unanticipated pregnancy). Getting pregnant and staying pregnant this time has been harder work, and it was close on a year, what with losses.

Numbers 1, 2 and 3 were easy easy to get pregnant with. #1 was actually a "got through 2 forms of birth control" surprise.
#4 took 3 years plus fertility drugs to conceive.
Happily #5 was conceived without drugs!

#1 was easy. #2 was easy. #3 was easy. #4 was hard. Took a year and a half after the loss of #3 to get pregnant w/ #4.
Not secondary infertility, but quadruple infertility? :lol

I got pregnant after the 1st month trying and then miscarried. It took me 14 months to get pregnant with DS and then 2 months with this baby!!

I conceived DD1 the first month we were trying- honestly if I'd known I would have conceived that fast I would have used contraception for the first few months we were married.
I conceived DD2 the first month we were careless about TTA.
I conceived DS when I decided to be careless in the heat of the moment (just that one time!!!)

#1 baby was conceived on our first attempt, first time not using any protection.
#2 took 9 months to conceive. I dont know if that is considered true secondary infertility, but I knew when I was ovulating and our timing was good. There really was no reason for it. We even had DH tested and it came back with borderline motility issues. Luckily DD was conceived before we had to look into more.
#3 was conceived again on the first try, not using any protection around my O date. We thought it would take awhile based on #2. So it was a but of a surprise.

i said that it took us just as fast to conceive number two, however we did have two unplanned pregnancies in between 1 and 2 that ended in early miscarriages. When we decided that we did indeed want to go for number two, we conceived the first month, same as with dd. I have the same due date with this baby that I did with dd, four years apart!

DS was the first month off the pill, and DD took 2 months (we were moving cross country the first month and I was under a lot of stress).
#3 was a mini-pill surprise.

#1 took about 6 months off of the birth control pill before we conceived her.
#2 was conceived in the very first try (no artificial birth control to come off of that time). Wasn't quite prepared for that, lol!
#3 was conceived while actively avoiding ... so I'm starting to get a little nervous over here ;)

well when we started trying for #1 we got pregnant on the first month. with #2 it took 2 months. Not to terribly long. We were both in our early 20's.

We conceived dd with just one dd, not exaggerating and I am absolutely positive of this:wink With ds it only took us one active dd week to get pregnant. Both times we were actively wanting to be pregnant. With #3 it took a little longer 'cause we weren't for sure if we wanted to pregnant right away, took about 3-4 cycles with our indecifiveness.

We got pregnant with #1 when we were certainly not ttc. I was 18. We weren't really using any bc, but were kind of doing "pull & pray". I always joke that we must have gotten the prayer wrong that time. :lol She was definitely a blessing, though.
About 4 months after I had her, I went on the pill. Then when she was 6 months, I had a horrible Dr. bully me into doing the Depo Provera shot. I did 3 shots, and it was the worst mistake I've ever made in my life. That 9 months of bc made it so I will likely never easily get pregnant again. My cycles have been messed up, and I gained a steady 5 pounds each and every month I was on the shot that have been impossible for me to get rid of. I've been told by several doctors that my weight contributes to my infertility (I'm 5'2" and about 220# :o So, not gigantic huge, but not a healthy weight at all)
We ttc #2 for nearly 2 years. I did 1 round of Clomid but hated how it made me feel and my insurance doesn't cover any infertility anything. I was 23 when we finally got pregnant.
This one, I've not been on any bc since ds was born in August of 2004. I've been kind of hoping for an "oops" the whole time. *I* actively started ttc 2 years ago. Dh officially got on board 20 months ago. Finally in October, we succeeded.
With both #2 and this one, I was on progesterone right after ovulation. I really believe that helped them "stick".

Started TTC Baby 1 when I was 26 - got pg on the 5th try. Started TTC Baby 2 when I was 29 - didn't get pg until I was 35 (and after 10 IUIs and 2 IVFs) One of our issues is DH has low volume, count and sometimes motility. I know he has always had low volume, not sure about the others, so I think we might have just really lucked out with DS happening pretty fast.
Edited to add: Just to clarify, when I say "TTC", I mean TTC. I have friends who "TTC" and didn't even really understand ovulation. I TTC some 80-90 cycles all with well-timed intercourse, charting, OPKs, etc.

We conceived dd on our first try, 4 months after a m/c (which was a surprise pregnancy). I had been charting for a long time (to avoid getting pg), but had irregular cycles (28-35 days). So when we decided to try, we ended up having sex 7 or 8 days in a row before I finally ovulated! At one point, we even had a fight about it :lol (dh wanted to go out after work with friends -- which meant he wouldn't be home until the wee hours of the morning -- and I told him he had to come home and have sex with me first!).
We conceived this babe on the second try. I wasn't charting, but typically get ewm when I'm fertile, so we just made a go when I thought the time was right. The first month we had sex a few days in a row, the second month just once :shrug. DH's comment when I told him I was pregnant? "That was easy." :rolleyes

I'm not really sure how to answer.
#1 - 2 years of actively trying, including charting and OPKs
#2 - 1 year actively trying (ended in m/c)
#3 - surprise, though we weren't avoiding
I have PCOS so that explains the trouble with #1 and #2. Not sure what happened this time, but we must have timed it just right by accident. We couldn't be more thrilled!

I put #2 was just as easy....
Baby #1 was a FAM surprise, we were not trying but not being careful about avoiding. (Conceived from DTD 5 days before O, having a long cycle)
#2 is on board now. Also a surprise! conceived while I was nursing #1, had no period, caught the first egg. Also only DTD maybe 3 times that month.

:lol Dd, we tried for one month and got pregnant. Ds1, we weren't trying, he just happened from having DTD ONCE, and that during my AF!:dizzy: Ds2- the first month that I doubted my fertility signals- I had EWCM but I figured that since the last few cycles I had had a patch of it a week before actual O'ing, I was safe enough to risk it and if I did get pregnant, I didn't care. I got pregnant.:p I too am planning the next one already- We want to wait until this babe is 2 before we get pregnant again.

I'm not pregnant with #2 yet but #1 was one tiny slip up with NFP (tta) so she was super easy. We are on cycle #3 right now ttc #2. I think it's more frustrating becasue we expected it to be as easy as the first.

DD 1 was a surprise. It was before I really understood things and my cycles were so long (3-6 months) I just figured I wasn't Oing. DH went along with it. We were unprotected for very long before conceiving, though....maybe a few months.
This one we actively TTC for 6 months/4 cycles. DD was still nursing very frequently, so I wasn't expecting it to be quick.

Ds#1 was conceived the first time without a condom. I never dreamed I would have fertility issues the second time around. This baby took about a year to conceive. I'm not sure if it's because Im 4 years older or if I just got luckier the first time around.

My first son was the first month off BC, easy as pie conception.
Two years later, I could NOT get pregnant. Long story short, my twins are from IVF and my DD2+3's are from superovulatory IUI's. It can definetely happen. :)

It's actually the reverse with us. Number one was the hard one, number two was a surprise. We weren't planning on TTC til about now, but I'm two weeks from delivery so Number 2 had plans of their own apparently. lol

DS was conceived the 3rd cycle trying. His baby brother (due Jan 2008) took 1.5 years which included one early miscarriage. We conceived the 2nd cycle after the miscarriage so that part felt "fast".

DD took 5 months (after we realized we were timing things wrong...bad information given in school to every single female...grr!). This one took 9 months and Metformin once I took a chart in and convinced the doc I was not ovulating. Got pregnant the first month on Met.

DS#1 was a welcome home war baby, DH and I both returned from deployments, and got pregnant the very first night home...... It just so happen to be one of the most fertile days for me...
With this new pregnancy I have charted the past few months, cause we really wanted a planned summer pregnancy.... And according to the chinese birth chart we would have a boy, so we will see... :lol but this one was very planned, and we got it first try :)

Dd 1 was conceived the first month I charted, which was supposed to be my practice month since I was totally new to charting; we had intended to actually ttc the next cycle.
The new babe took 15 months, a bunch of metformin and three rounds of clomid to conceive. I have PCOS and I wasn't ovulating on my own at all, so we had to find the right combination of meds to get me to ovulate.

We conceived baby #1 on the second cycle we tried. Baby #2 was conceived on the first (and technically we weren't even trying because it was my first postpartum ovulation and I was still breastfeeding!) Either way, we clearly had an easy time of it!

This one happened a little quicker than #1. With our first son, I stopped taking the pill to let my body get back to it's natural state (my mom had fertility issues when TTC me so I was worried!). We planned on actively TTC about 6 months after I stopped taking the pill but I got pregnant on my 3rd cycle.
Even though it was easy with #1, I was still worried about having problems so when I didn't get pregnant on my first cycle, I bought ovulation predictor strips and got pregnant on the second cycle.
