I am an ex-vegetarian learning the wonders of small amounts of meats, bone broths, etc. DH was just raised and still eats a BAD diet. Nothing i have done can get him to change his way even though he knows he should. A big point of contention between us is meat, but since I am exploring the benefits of small amounts of meat traditionally prepared maybe I can get through to him.

My big question is this. DH was born with little to no tooth enamel, as were two of our daughters. According to our ped dentists this is mostly a cosmetic issue if we take good care of their teeth. DH still is adamant that his numerous teeth issues are due to the enamel issue, not the refined grains and sugar he consumes, or the soda addiction that has plagued him his entire life. You know how most people get a glass of water when they are thirsty in the middle of the night? He gets Dr. Pepper. But that has nothing to do with his teeth though obviously. He has always done that. :rolleyes. What NT foods can help with remineralization of his teeth? The rest has to do with him being willing to give up certain things in his diet. TIA!

Cod liver oil & butter oil! And as you know, cutting out the refined grains & sugar is HUGE!

Would your husband be persuaded by personal anecdotes? :lol I used to have at least 1 cavity every single time I went in to get my teeth cleaned. I thought I just had bad teeth. I think all of my molars and some of my incisors have fillings in them somewhere. Then I mostly stopped eating grains/sugar and I started flossing my teeth and I have not had a single cavity since (it's been 3 years). When I go to the dentist he is always amazed.

If you want more info about remineralizing teeth, I know there was a huge thread on here at some point about it...can anyone help us find it?

Yeah, sugar is bad for your teeth and bones. Consuming too much changes the levels of calcium and phosphorus. Phos goes down, cal rises becuase it is pulling it out of your teeth and bones. So, yes, the soda does effect his teeth.

The thread linked by the PP looks REALLY interesting!! I'll have to go back and read it.
