I have just got back from my second bloods for bhcg. My levels on Thursday were 160 and I think I was 4 weeks and 4 days. Does this sound OK. I am dreading Monday when the results of the second one comes in as I have convinced myself this pg is not going to work then the next minute I think I can do this. The U/S could not see anything on Thursday but they said that was normal. I am 41 so just keep thinking all the odds are against me and all the books keep telling me the odds.
I know my levels should double but what if they don't, am I doomed at that point or is there still hope.

Check out http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single.
These are all #s for successful pregnancies, so it looks like you are just fine with your numbers.

Sorry, I don't know about hCG levels.
But: Try not to worry!!! I do think there is a brain/body connxn and stress can't help (I say as someone who works way too many hours and is fairly constantly stressed, LOL). So try to rent a comedy or something that will release soothing biochemicals into your system! Don't think you are 'doomed'. I am just a couple of years younger, and while the 'odds' for us are certainly very different than for someone 20 years younger, the odds of everything going well ARE in your favor! :):):)

Thanks you guys
I keep telling myself that loads of women have babies at my age, in fact it is getting more common but when I feel so normal and not sick it is hard to think there is something in there. I keep poking my boobs to check they are still sore:lol just to remind myself. How daft is that. Still heres to good rise on Monday.

I just wanted to say that even if your numbers don't DOUBLE that that still doesn't necessarily mean that there's something wrong.
I was about 8 weeks along with my last baby and had some bleeding and they wanted to do an hcg count and I did the testing and the 2nd test came back and the hcg had not doubled so they were "concerned", mentioned something about blighted ovum and scheduled me for an ultrasound, well they had me worrying and upset for nothing because at the ultrasound there was the baby and he was perfectly fine.
Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!) and let us know how things go for you on Monday :)
