I wanted a blood test to confirm my pregnancy after getting positives on pee sticks all weekend. So on Monday I called a women's center and requested a test. They agreed to do it but then said that they would have to schedule me to see an ob at some later date. I agreed, although I have no intention of using an ob for prenatal care or my birth. I called for my beta results today. An ob said it was low (159), like I had just gotten pregnant. I said I had been 11dpo on Monday so that makes sense. He says when I come in for my appt. next week I will probably be ready for an ultra sound.

For starters, I looked it up and 159 is great for 11dpo (AND 13dpo depending on if you agree with FF or not). Secondly, what does he think he is going to see @ 4weeks. Is this just routine? I have no history of miscarriage. I am canceling the appointment. I have no intention of doing U/S unless there is a medical reason. I spoke to a midwife today who sounded wonderful. If everything works out I will birth with her.

First of all congrats.

Seconf I think 159 shoudl be great. I was 154 at 4 weeks 6 days by LMP. and 5 days later i was over 1500.

I dont think anything could be seen on US really at 4 weeks, and i worry they might misdiagnose a miscarriage.

Good luck. I am currently using my OB office to get all these more expensive things done, and i will be quitting soon to use my midwfie only. Sounds like we are together on that LOL

Good luck

I would say you can let them try BUT if your HCG is under like 3000 and sometimes even higher they won't see anything in there. Most offices like your numbers to be OVER 5000 BEFORE they do an U/S. So if you do it, don't let them worry you about nothing being on the screen. kwim??? Just food for thought.
