I had this done for ds and have just got the results. Ive found out which halpogroup he's in which is predominately found in Asia and the Americas, but I thought his biological father was half african because his dad (ds's grandad) was african according to him. (we have no contact). So if this test is true, it means that half african half asian man isn't my son's biological father?
Can someone who's done the test or understands about all this stuff please send me a private message or reply here, Im desperately trying to find out if this is right or not. I need to find out if hes my sons biological father by doing this test because we have no contact so cant do the regular paternity tests.

Um, are you saying you are not sure if the man you thought was your son's bio-donor is actually his bio-donor?
I guess I'm unsure of the purpose - if he's not in the picture it really shouldn't matter, unless you're suing for support in which case you should be able to order a dna test?
I remember a book about this a few years ago Black Like I Thought I Was in which the author, who had always identified himself as AA, had this test done and it "turned out" that he had no African "blood" at all. So was he still AA? I personally would worry about the reliability of the test - people moved around a lot.

It could just mean his paternal side (straight back male to male) was Asian/American, and his maternal could have been African. Make sense?
My family has done this for my mother's father side. Showed Scandinavian. Total shock.

Here a company that does this kind of testing and has a simple explanation about the differences between paternal & maternal DNA testing. LINK (http://www.ancestrybydna.com/welcome/home/index.php)

If DS grandfather was "African" and that African line came through the maternal side, then paternal DNA testing would not show the maternal markers. What your test indicates is that if there he truly is of partial African descent, it wasn't through his paternal line. It doesn't mean he isn't, it just means it wasn't picked up in the paternal DNA testing.
If you are trying to determine if he is truly your son's bio-donor, then you either need his DNA or one of bio-donor's siblings/parents - they need something to compare your DS's DNA to.
