I'm posting mostly for reassurance here. Logic tells me not to worry, but my mama brain just won't turn off until I get lots of people saying "no biggie!"

So. I'm 29 weeks pregnant with my first, everything's great. Today I noticed some mild cervical pain and an increase in vaginal discharge. The pain lasted for a few minutes each time (this afternoon and then tonight around 10 pm), but wasn't sharp or accompanied by even a BH. Vag discharge is normal looking/smelling/feeling (sorry :o) just a little more of it than recently. No bleeding, no heaviness in my pelvis (my kid lives in my ribcage right now!), baby is active. It just freaked me out because I haven't felt anything happening down there in a loooong time! I haven't "checked" my cervix because I wouldn't know what to look for, and in general am not planning to do any poking around in there for a long time, so I couldn't tell you firm/soft whatever, I figure everything is probably ok.

Oh, and 2 days ago DH and I finally attempted 3rd tri sex after several weeks of no hot action whatsoever.

So to me this all adds up to nothing to worry about. Right? I emailed my midwife but thought I'd post here, too. Thanks.

Hi Lauren, I get weird "poking" feelings in my vagina & cervix sometimes... my midwife told me that it's not uncommon to have some neuralgia or "phantom pains" in that region.

I'm glad you contacted your midwives, but it doesn't sounds like any symptoms of pre-term labor does it?

Anyway, just my 2 cents. I hope you're enjoying your pregnancy!

I've heard it's normal to have an increase in fluids.

If you want to try to check your cervix, with washed hands, feel as far as you can. You will hit something that will either feel like lips or a nose. If it is a nose it means it is closed. Lips means it's open.

I talked with my midwife and she says it's probably sex-related irritation and nothing to worry about unless it increases in sharpness (which it hasn't). She also said the discharge was probably sex-related in that my vag may react to the presence of foreign stuff by overproducing goo to kill off potential germs. I feel a lot better about it this morning. Thanks for your support, everyone, and if you're in the midwest like me, stay warm and safe :cold:.
