I know not many mamas who are due in September know it yet but I'm all excited and figured I'd start a roll call. :love
I'm guessing I'll be due some time in the first week of September. :dust

I am in the late august/ early september camp too!
Both my other babies have been 1-2 weeks late, so I'm guessing this one will make an appearance Sep 3-6'ish.

I'm newly pg, just took the test yesterday at 14 dpo. My technical due date would be Sept. 1, but both my boys arrived at nearly 42 weeks, so I'm going to tell everyone my date is Sept. 15. I figure I'll most likely have the baby by then! I got SOOOO tired of having everybody asking if I was "still pg."
It's nice to "meet" you all!

Can I join in this party?
I've been lurking around the MDC for the past 2 months that my DH and I have been TTC, and wouldn't you know it... a BFP at 10DPO on our second cycle! :eek FF puts my due date at Sept. 2, which sounds about right.
It's nice to meet y'all!
Am I the only one still POAS multiple times a day, convinced that this PG is going to suddenly disappear somehow?

I just got a BFP yesterday. I'm going in for a blood test this morning. Can I just say that I'm absolutely terrified? I have a 5 year old DD. My DH just found out his job will be gone in a couple of weeks. I was never 100% sure we should add to our family, but my age (38) stirred up my biological clock :o. We agreed we would only ttc for a couple of months (until the end of the year). I never really thought it would work, but I guess it did. :dizzy:

Just got my Christmas Present:wink 2 very light but still there BFP. I have already put a card announcing the big news to DH in his stocking. I am a little nervous about him getting it. I hope he is as excited as I am.
My due date is around Sept 3. My last 2 babies have been 5 weeks early so this could even be a late July baby. Just praying for 37 weeks.
Congrats mamas!!! I look forward to sharing the next 9 with you.

Well, Merry Christmas to us :love DH had a good birthday :D on the 12th (ETA: although we probably conceived just before that :) ).
I'm in shock, I don't finish school until April 20th but I'm beyond delighted, we were planning to try in June anyways so its not that out there. Honestly, this is just amazing and unexpected even though I've been desperately wanting for the last 3.5 years of marriage. I think I'm due around September 1st, but I feeling very crampy...
Trying to be hopeful ~ My Grammy's birthday is September 3, we got engaged on September 3rd, but both Mom & Grandma tend to go 15ish days late so I'm thinking mid-September, too. :love:love:love:love

Me too - BFP yesterday (and again today). So happy to be joining you at 42 years old! We, too decided to TTC only until next April (my 43rd birthday) and got pg the 2nd cycle after my IUD was taken out. Both my dds were conceived around this time of year although dd2 came a bit early. My EDD is 9/3/08. Another Virgo on board!
Jora - where are you at in CO? I'm in Boulder.

I'm there with you. Very excited, but also really nervous. We were going to wait longer to ttc, but decided just to go for it... and got pg on the first cycle. I still have doubts about whether I'm ready for a 3rd (the kids will outnumber the adults!), as ds2 is still in my bed and night nursing regularly. But, as dh says, if we waited until we were ready, we'd never have another one! :wink

Just got a positive yesterday, for christmas! :D I guess that means I'm due at the very beginning of Sept.
My 5 year old hasn't nursed in about 2 weeks - and we are having our weaning party tonight.
We got pregnant with her about a month after my husband and I moved in together, and now we got pregnant again at the same time that my older daughter weaned - which means in the 6 years we've lived together there was one month during which I wasn't pregnant or breastfeeding. I wonder if he would recognize me without either... :lol
Hope you all are well. Can't wait to get to know you better!

I've felt like DS was getting close to weaning the past few months. I kinda hope he doesn't. He's been asking to nurse a LOT over the past week. I don't know why the change but I'm sticking to CLW and hoping that my milk won't dry up. He just turned 3 btw.

I'm really irritated. I got a blood test today and it was negative. She said it would be done today and then when she called to give me the result, said that it would be negative at less than 50MUI. So, I got stuck twice for nothing. The test that gives the exact number as low as 5MuI won't be done till Friday. I was going to test at home again Saturday morning anyway! Anyway, even though I feel certain I'm pregnant, I feel a little foolish to have posted in this DDC already.
Anyway, I'll update here when I get something more concrete than these shadow-y looking cheap HPT's. :O

Hi everyone! I'm going to go ahead and post here even though my last two pregnancies have ended in miscarriage. I got a BFP at 12 dpo and the another super-duper dark BFP today!! Due sept. 3rd. I am feeling very positive about this pregnancy, but also now sadly understand that it might be transitory. I think I will not relax until I see a heartbeat and start feeling some kicks. With my daughter I felt her around 20 weeks, so that's only 4 more months to go!!

It's so exciting to see this group grow! Congrats and welcome to all the newbs!!!
Jör∂ - Here's hoping for a +! I posted right after seeing my HPT too… I don't think that's anything to feel silly about. Keep us posted!
shockels - I am trying to stay positive too. I have a bleeding disorder which makes miscarriages more likely. I've miscarried before, though let's just say in high school it's not much of a tragedy and file that under "young and stupid." My mom miscarried twice too. But hey, this is an important 'step one' I figure. You have to get pg before you can stay pg.
I wish I could have done something as cool as putting the HPT in DH's stocking! We were staying over at the ILs for xmas eve and xmas, and even though I was already late, I did not want to test at their place. I waited until the 26th, and knowing that first morning pee is the best, when I had to get up in the middle of the night (about 4am) I decided to do it then. I woke DH up waving the stick around like a madwoman! lol
We're not telling anyone for at least a few more weeks. So frustrating! No one knew we were TTC, so it'll be a big surprise.

Jora - here's hoping for a BFD (dark)P!
Shockels - our babies have the same birthday! I'm still part of the very active August 05 DDC. Do you ever lurk there?
I called my m/w yesterday and "reserved" a spot for early September. She only does two births a month, so I needed to contact her ASAP. As for telling my family, I'll have to wait awhile. My younger sister is due with her first 1/16 and if I stole the least bit of her thunder, there would be hell to pay! We're calling her birth the second coming of Christ! :lol
I also have a 25 yo niece who is due on the 29th and lives in Jora's neighborhood in the Springs. It's weird that I already (and will have more) great-nephews before my baby is born. This niece was 17 when I was born! Yes, my family is big and my sisters had their babies young.
How is everyone feeling? I'm not sick (and wasn't with my other two), but I'm STARVING and pretty tired, but having trouble sleeping.

Anyone else planning a homebirth?
jaclyn7
12-27-2007, 02:43 PM
I'm very strongly leaning towards one. My only concern is that we rent a basement suite without a tub (just a shower) and I worry about that & the noise, but I'm thinking an inflatable kiddie pool would do the trip. So, its really just my noise concern. I've done a lot of research and I feel in most situations, with healthy Mamas and a comfortable home environment, it is by far the safest choice in terms of maternal and infant outcomes.
Otherwise, I feel really comfortable about the decision. We're less than a 10 minute walking distance from the hospital so that totally puts DH at ease and my Mother had fairly smooth births (less than 8 hours total for 4 births).
Midwives for sure :thumb

Definately having a homebirth here - my first was born at home and it was great! I think I'll be looking for a different midwife this time. The first was pretty good, but she had some nervous energy - and I need someone really grounded. The other midwife I had lives about 2 hours away now, and I think that will be a little too far...
I don't think my insurance will pay for anything so I don't have to worry about licensure. There are so many midwives around here, I should be able to find someone that I like.

I would love to have a homebirth, however, my last 2 babies were 5 weeks early and both spent time in the NICU. Looks like I will be have a 4th hospital birth. I plan on talking to my doctor about keeping it as low tech as possible. I also plan to do a great majority of my laboring at home if possible.
Anyone else with no choice but a hospital birth? How do you plan to insure that it is as natural and low tech as possible?

As a doula, I can tell you what I've noticed.
Women who are *well* supported tend to be left alone the most.
I'm not just talking about having a doula, but being surrounded by women who have been to a few births seems to help nurses realize that they don't need to be there all the time. If they know that someone can help you in and out of the bed and get you drinks, etc, they seem to stay away. I'd say the more suppport they perceive, the less they are in the room.
Make your room your space!
Bring a crock pot full of soup, wear your own pajamas, play music. Own it!
Hospitals matter more than care providers (especially if you have an ob or family practitioner).
Your nurse is probably the one you will see most often during your birth - IMO, she has a huge role to play. Unfortunately we can't pick our nurses. In my area the smaller, more rural hospitals seem to recognize women as individuals much better than the big hospitals in the city. The smaller hospitals have been much more willing to follow birth plans. Nurses have been much more willing to leave women alone if that is what they want, in spite of doctor preferences.
Choosing a family practitioner can often mean you will know who will be attending your birth, as opposed to a midwife or OB who more commonly work in groups.
If you can find a FP who you like, it could be a good choice. (Although if you are considered high risk, that may not be an option.)
pauletoy - Since you said you would love a homebirth, I thought I'd ask: do you think you could get dual care? Find a homebirth midwife who is willing to work with you, as well as your doctor. That way if you get past that early point this pregnancy you could do a homebirth?? Also, she may be able to give you a different perspective on carrying your baby longer.

Homebirth here! Already reserved late Aug. early Sept with my MW. Hoping to get insurance coverage for it this time. Trying for a hypnobirthing/water birth, we filled the tub last time but I never felt like getting in it, used the shower and birthed on my bed. Keeping in mind to fill the tub early in labor not towards the end....oops!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am going to follow every bit of your advise. I had a wonderful unmedicated hospital birth with #3 but would like to do somethings differently this time. Hopefully, the hospital allows at least laboring in water. I also plan to use a birthing ball.
To answer your question about dual practitioner, I have been shocked to find that there are no midwives in the state of Alabama. It is actually illegal. I can not believe how ignorant our state goverment. I don't believe most births should be treated as a medical event. Now in my situation, unfortunately, the baby will most likely require medical attention but I should be the one to decide who attends and participates in my birth.
Sorry for the rant. Again, thank you so much for all of your advise. I will probably have many more questions for you over the coming months.

Alcyone...too funny about waking DH up in the middle of the night! I hope this little bean is super sticky for you and that the bleeding disorder won't cause any problems for you. Is it such that you have to take heparin or lovenox if you don't mind me asking. Or I could just respect your privacy!
ktmama Yes! I was a part of that DDC. I didn't know our little ones had the same birthday, that's so cool! After Addy was born my dad died totally unexpectedly when she was 7 weeks old. I was also 8 months away from graduating from nursing school and the utter chaos and emotional upheaval that was my life didn't leave any room for online stuff. The only person I really remember is Adrienne (Owen's mama) because she lives here in Portland.
I would like to try for a homebirth. Addy was a planned homebirth but my water broke and I wasn't fully dialated for 5 days! By the time i was supposed to push i was totally exhausted. I went to the hospital (where they wrote all sorts of things like "prolonged rupture of membranes x 5 days" all over my chart) got an epidural and found out that she was OP and acynclitic. No wonder it took 5 days!!! Anyway, I fell asleep for 3 hours, then woke up and pushed her out (she'd turned and come way down while I was sleeping). So I really feel like I got the best of both worlds. i was able to stay home and let addy do what she needed to do and then when I went to the hospital (where I'd transferred to MIDWIVES of course) I was able to get some rest and help. If I'd gone to the hospital when my water broke I would have been on the clock and had a section within 24 hours. So to bring this book to a close, I want a homebirth, but this time with different midwives and a better outcome!
Few...sorry for the lengthy reply, I really didn't mean to set out and tell my birth story!

Well, I'll join the "previous miscarriage" club. My m/c was in Spring of 2004 and was a COMPLETE shock. It had not occurred to me that the pregnancy might not survive. Plus I was already 12 weeks when I found out (it was a missed miscarriage), and mine, too, ended with a D&C.
I did go on to have a healthy baby the following year, my beloved Maya :love, but for now I just feel grateful to be pregnant. :)
I am definitely thinking about a homebirth. My midwife is GREAT. We inquired about a homebirth with Maya, but there were two obstacles: our insurance at the time (Medicaid) didn't cover it, AND my MW had scheduled a trip to China around my due date. So maybe this time around...:thumb

No, I haven't had to take anything for my bleeding disorder. I just plan on doing nothing for the next hour or so when I start bleeding. I used to get nosebleeds all. the. time. but it's gotten a lot better as I've gotten older.
I would like a homebirth but I don't know what my options are yet. I know they are more common here than in the US but I need to talk to someone about the aforementioned bleeding disorder and such like. Problem is I don't have my residency yet so I have to wait for that before I can see a midwife. :( Waterbirths are also more common here. I definitely want that, home or not.

Darn! Well, if it is something you are still interested in, even in states where it is illegal to practice midwifery there are usually practicing midwives (probably quietly practicing midwives). Or if you are close to a border, you might check in a nearby state.
Are there any birth groups where you can learn more about practitioners in your area? I think it is helpful to hear other experiences so you know what things are likely to happen, what choices are very probable and those choices that may take more effort/planning. It is so different in each region.

Well, I am actually in Central Alabama so definately not close to a border. I did see I add in a flyer I got from Whole Foods but that midwife was over 2 hours away.
I will have to check into birth groups. Apparently in Alabama, I am a freak. lol. People thought I was insane when I had an unmedicated birth last time. I don't know anyone else who has done the same. Even the hospital staff thought I was crazy.

I was hoping to talk DH into a midwife assisted homebirth but it looks like it won't happen. The only MWs that are covered by insurance deliver in a hospital. I just found out on another thread in FYTribe that they even changed their hospital (FURTHER, wahhh). Still don't want an OB this time around though. I want a more fluid, natural birth. My last one was so horrible I was squeezing my eyes shut because I wanted it all to go away. My OB thought I was trying to go to sleep. UM NO. Just trying to shut you all out. No offense, but who all can perform with ten ppl yelling at you. :P

Jörð - I still have everything crossable crossed for you.
I guess I should consider myself really lucky, here (British Columbia) my midwives & or homebirth will be covered by the provincial health care plan.

Hi, I think I'm due around the second week in September.
I'm also a member of the previous miscarriage club. Mine was in 2006 and I was 7 weeks. I got my confirmation blood test results the day after I miscarried. I've had 2 chemical pregnancies since then.
I'm trying so hard not to be stressed or worried.

Welcome, SunnyKat! I think that its natural to worry after all you've been through, but around here we wish you nothing but blue skies and sticky beans! :fingersx:

Hopefully it isn't unlucky to post in a DDC when conception probably only took place two days ago!! I'd be due around the 19th of September...I'm posting now 1. because my family is fertile, fertile, fertile and 2. because last time (Dec 2005) I felt like such a late comer when those due early in the month had been corresponding for weeks before those of us at the end finally confirmed we were pregnant. I hope no one minds! This seems like a great group already so hopefully I get to stick around!:wink

I guess I belong here. I'm a little nervous because all the tests I've taken (please don't ask how many :o ) have had only pretty faint lines. I would feel more confident if the line was darker! But I've had three days of tests with faint lines and my period is late at this point. With my daughter it was dark from the first test, and I guess I assumed the same would happen now.
We had a really good experience with our hospital birth last time - with a CNM and a doula - so we'll probably do the same this time. If the first time hadn't gone so well we might not want to do the same. But I had a really good, natural birth. We did have to fight with the nurses a bit though.

Oh, I plan to homebirth again. I ended up transfered last time.. no real reason. I'm unsure if I'll birth unassisted or with a midwife.

Dude. I just played around with a DDC and realized I'd be due September 10th or 11th. That just bothers me on so many levels.

I know that is one of the first things I thought of when I got my BFP.
Just remind yourself what a blessing this baby will be, how much one joyful child can change your thoughts on a day, and maybe make a deal in utero with the child to come a few days late.

Hi all,
Just got my BFP this morning! I'm due Sept 7th, the day before my birthday...my first DD was a week early so I'll have an early birthday gift :D
I had miscarriage at 9 weeks with our second so I'm pretty nervous this time around. Keeping my fingers crossed that this little bean will stay with us.

Maybe try thinking about it as reclaiming that date for birth rather than death. Sorry that's bothering you. I have two friends born on September 11th.

Dude. I just played around with a DDC and realized I'd be due September 10th or 11th. That just bothers me on so many levels.
DD1 was due on September 10th, and I was bothered initially. But by the time we got closer and closer (mind you, this was my first baby), I couldn't have cared less. I was too busy worrying about giving birth and having a healthy baby that the actual date seemed less and less important. She was going to be MY baby and MY experience, no matter what the date was, kwim?
I would venture to guess that at least one of us will deliver on September 11th. And yea, we will reclaim the day!

Tested negative again this morning at 10 DPO. For a few minutes until the pink dye settled (dollar tree test) it looked like there might be a line but when it was all white, I couldn't see it anymore.
I'm sorry Mamazee. :hug

Hi! I'll join in here too...though i have to admit i am a little scared. I feel so good, it is freaking me out.
My EDD is end of August, beginning of September- i am right around 5 weeks. I have done 2 at home tests, and both were positive- i had to re-do because i am still in shock. We were not TTC, but i am so excited and want this baby so badly that it hurts.
I'm hoping i get to stay with you ladies till the end.
This will be our second child, ds is going to be 8 in January, so there are quite a few years btwn them.
XOXO- i am passing the blessings onto all of you and praying that we all get to the end together!
Hugs mama's!

If it helps at all, I got a BFN on 10 DPO. Not even a hint of a line. I even dismantled the test. The very next day, BFP no dismantling necessary. Don't give up. There is still time.:wink
Mamazee, I am so sorry. I hope next month will be your month.
Congrats all who have recently got your BFP!!!!

Hopping over here from August DDC. Had some spotting, then u/s showed that I'm only about maybe 4 weeks, not the 6 I thought I was, talk about a surprise. FF had my O dates off pretty good, so I'm hopeful about this little guy!!! Wishing all of you a H&H9M!!! :love:love

I might be (hopefully!) joining this DDC
This will be my first baby. I have gotten 2 faint, faint lines on dollar tree tests so this really might be it. Not quite sure, but I'll find out soon enough. Like somebody else said, I kind of just feel it in my bones. I am trying not to get my hopes up too much. But since 2 other people said they could see the lines too, I think they may have been BFPs.
I have no idea how many DPO I am, but just using the date of CD1 on various DDC, I might be due between Sept 11-14.
I sooo hope this is it! :innocent

homebirther over here!! our first dd was a homebirth that would have been a section if we were at the hospital. so, yeah, i would never set foot in a hospital. if i couldn't find a mw who would homebirth i would try to find a very low key family practioner and then UC "oops! it just came so fast!!"

I am due on or around Sept. 3rd. This will be my third babe.

Can I join;)? I just got a BFP today at 11DPO. I'll be due around Sept 11, though I'm telling everyone the end of Sept/early Oct. I don't plan to tell anyone except close friends until Feb or so (my mother and father drove me crazy last time).
I have one DS - 12 months. He was born via unnecessary c/s after a cascade of interventions that I should've stopped, but didn't.
I'm planning a HBAC with a mw - will call and leave messages on their machines tomorrow. I have at least two practices I'm going to be interviewing.
I also will be following the Brewer's Diet, so I'm off to refamilarize myself with it right now.
H&H9 to all!!

Very cautiously joining...I am still in shock! This will be a happy surprise #3 for us...
I always am an early birther so if all goes well we are looking anywhere from early August to early September, although 40 weeks puts me at September 3.
Can I join 2 due date clubs?
I am nursing DD and my nips are very sensitive and sore ouch!
I hope we are all here together til we have healthy babies in our arms!

Ok well I am scared to do this but I guess I am joining in. I am 12dpo and still seeing very faint lines on tests. I did however take a Clear Blue Easy Digital this morning and it said "Pregnant". I am so excited. I am trying to rein in the excitement but not doing so well! I have 2 boys Henning 5 and Connor 2 1/2. Looks like I will be due around Sept 11th also. We had a miscarriage in April and have been trying again for #4 for 9 months or so. We are all SO excited but also nervous!
