I'm so excited!!!

DD received a couple of nasty MIC, toxic smelling dollar-store dolls from my MIL and sadly, she really liked them, but I couldn't let her play with them because anyone could smell that they were just not safe.

I have been trying to find a good natural replacement, and came across Joy's Waldorf dolls, and she sells kits!! I am so excited to make a doll just for Izzy :)

Has anyone worked with their kits before? ANy tips,suggestions,warnings :lol ?

The fabric from Joy's is not the greatest quality- it pills, gets holes and runs. Yom must use a small, #70 ball point sewing machine needle, and even that doesn't stop all the holes. Be extra careful when embroidering the face, as it is easy to get a hole that runs. The fabric is fine for small dolls but doesn't hold up well when making larger dolls- 14" and up.

Also, I think Joy's patterns are well designed, but she does not allow for any internet or catalog sales so if you want to sell a few doll, I would avoid Joys and go with a company that is generous in allowing sales, such as Dancing Rain Dolls, Weir or even Magic Cabin. Check this out-

Hrm, that's a drag :( Do you know what a #70 is in industrial machine sizes? Or just finer is better?

Does the running typically happen during construction, or play, or both?

No worries on the licensing, I do have a site selling kids clothes, but the Waldorf dolls are not something that would fit necessarily with the theme of the site ;)
