This is my third pregnancy, and I'm hoping that to make this one the healthiest yet.
With the first one, I gained over 50 pounds (um, I'm 4'10'') and didn't exercise. My nutrition sucked. I felt terrible, had heartburn, insomnia, leg cramps, edema, headaches, and I'm surprised I didn't end up with PIH. When I went into labor at 38.5 weeks I was so miserable! It tooks weeks before I was out of bed from the c-section.
Second one, eight months later. Totally pyched for my VBAC. Walked 5 miles 4 days a week, and was so focused on healthy eating. Gained 18 pounds and had ZERO annoying pregnancy issues. Felt fantastic. Fast, easy labor and great recovery.
Here I am again, and I just don't feel like I have the focus to keep up my exercise and diet. I know first hand how important getting exercise every single day is to my (and babies!) mental and physical health. I can't be eating fried food or sugar. I know weight gain is a touchy subject for some, but I think limiting my weight gain is very important.
So, in the spirit of new years I'd love to hear what everyone else is aspiring to do over the course of this pregnancy. I'm sure we all have some goals - please share!

This time I promise too.......
Be much more active!! I gave myself a get outta exercise free card last time which I refuse to do now. DD was in a bad position which I blame mostly on my laziness on the couch! I'm also really hoping that the massive chocolate craving i had last time does not appear this time, but if it does i will not indulge every 2 hours!!

I plan to be both physically and mentally fit for this pregnancy. I'm going to drink RRL/nettle tea every day, and infusions when labor draws near. I'm already doing Kegels nearly every day. I plan on doing prenatal yoga, and I got a birth ball for Christmas so I will be doing squatting exercises on it. I also walk a lot, which I did with my last pregnancy, and it really helped keep me in shape.
This will be a HBAC, so I really want to be sure that my body doesn't crap out on me when I need to depend on it. I will also be doing lots of affirmations/positive thinking as well.

Just enjoy each and every minute. This is #4 and the last and I hope to remember and cherish every little kick.
Also, exercise and healthy eating. These are my goals for the New Year also.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This time I promise to...
Go into labour on my own terms. Last time I tried castor oil (no labour, just the unpleasent side-effects) and had my membranes swept twice. I think she just wasn't ready to come out.
Talk to my baby. Stay positive. Make sure he or she is coming into a peaceful environment.
Get some exercise! If I don't work out I get so lethargic. I want to be in shape for labour, especially if it starts in the evening and continues through till morning again!
Stay away from the junk. Get plenty of protein and fresh food. Take my prenatals.
Not take crap from people who want to criticise my choices. I am so much more confident in myself and my abilities this time.
Have smart ass comebacks ready for people who comment on my size or rub my belly without permission!

I promise to...
Eat a healthy traditional diet.
Exercise and or walk every day.
Relax and let enjoy each moment of this pregnancy as it comes and not be impatient about the next step.
Listen to all the messages my body and baby is giving me.
And during labor I will find the "place" where I dont feel labor as pain. I did for the last 30-45 minutes of my last labor and it was awesome.
My motto this time is: I'll ride the wave where it takes me

I am NOT gaining as much this time either, I gained so much and still had a tiny baby, the ice cream was NOT needed LOL
Any advice though? I'm 5'0 and and 130lbs I think 10-15 is a good weight gain

This time I promise:
- I will appreciate and be in awe of my ever changing body. Knowing that I was created to grow, birth, nourish, and steward my children from the time of conception.
- I will eat healthy. Cut out the sugar and fill up on healthy foods.
- I will exercise. Not because I want to prevent weight gain, but rather to give me and my baby the benefits of an active Mom.
- I will take the time to enjoy, talk to, and pray over this child.
- I will not complain about being overdue.

I started out my first pg the exact same size (5'0, 130lbs). I gained 35 lbs, and felt pretty healthy, but then again my DD was 10 lbs, so a lot of that was baby, lol! This time I'm 105 lbs, and I want to gain at least 25 but not more than 40.
My only advice would be to make your calories count. Eat a big fancy salad instead of a 99 cent cheeseburger, stuff like that. That, and stay active, even if it's just a short walk every morning. It will really boost your metabolism, and help you stay energized.

This time I promise to RELAX. I promise to trust my body and my baby, and let them both do what they need to do.
Oh, and I promise not to eat limes until my tongue goes raw :D

I'm with you mama! I gained over 50 lbs with both of my previous pregnancies. The first time I did not exercise but the 2nd time I did throughout. The thing that was pretty similar both times was my diet which wasn't the greatest. I promise that things will be different this time - they already are!!

I love reading all these - it seems like the next 9 months will take FOREVER but somehow this makes me feel like we're all in it together :shy

No ice cream. I WAY:eat: overindulged in all dairy products last time and I some what blame DD's cow dairy intolerance to it. Since I am still nursing though I think this will be easy for me since I avoid it anyway. So I really need to concentrate on other sources of calcium and protein. I also need to get back into my walking routine. DD and the dog need it anyway, I just wish it weren't so cold.
