i love the name Zea or Zia (zee-ahhh) but im kind of wanting to make it more original and add another letter to it.. i'm thinking of spelling it...
Zeaja or Zeaya but i'm not sure if other folks will get it. not that it matters since my daughter is ngaio said ny-oh and no one reads it and knows how to say it..:p

i guess i just want someone else's opinion:love

How about just 'Zeah' or 'Ziah' - then it will be written more like Leah and people might be able to pronounce it better.

It sucks having to go through life correcting people about your name. I obviously don't have that problem, but I have known a few people who have.

Zeaja will be called Zee-ah-jah by every single person who reads her name before hearing it. She's going to be constantly asked if "Zea" is her nickname. She is going to have to constantly explain how her name is spelled.
Zea-yah, also called Zee-aiya from time to time, will deal with similar issues.

Just be aware of that going in.

Is Ngaio of Vietnamese origin? That 17th century guy who switched the country over to the latin alphabet has a lot to answer for phonetically :lol.

Stick with Zia. Spelling out your name all the time is a PITA.

I'd personally go the less complicated route and spell it Zia or Zeah. I can tell you that it is a pain having to correct and spell out my name all the time. And it's even more annoying when people horribly butcher it because they can't read it...

Have you thought about the name Zara (pronounced Czar-ah?) I've always loved that name... just a suggestion.

Remember, it's your choice so go with your heart.

Best of luck!

We named our Daughter Xaeli, said Zay-lee, and not even our family can get it right! Z and X are tough ones!

I think you should spell her name how it sounds... Its so much easier on anyone and everyone who spells her name. I'm so glad I named sasa the way I did. and I wish I had just kept haevens name without the extra 'E'... it's a pain in the butt having to spell it out for people. they get the name right, but spell it wrong.:eyesroll

I have to agree with everyone else. It's a beautiful name, I really don't think you need to add an extra letter to make it more difficult.

When we were naming our son, there was never a question that he would be Tevin James. We got crap from everyone about it, though. I still have to say "Tevin. With a T. Yes, Tevin." And he still gets called Kevin or Devin routinely.

I think you should spell it however you want it.. Even the simplest names people screw up...

My youngest son has a somewhat difficult name.. Aloshua.. People call him Alicia.. Or Joshua... There is no J!!!
