We already decided last pregnancy on Chase Oscar for a boy. This pregnancy we are having a really hard time agreeing on any girl names. My dh wants Ashley Nicole......................... Umm...... What??......
Anyways, we did agree we both like the middle name Plum, but finding a first name is a little harder. What do you think of Aida Plum -or- Emogen Plum - Emmi for short?

I like Emogen Plum. I think that sounds really sweet.
Have you been to http://www.nymbler.com/nymbler/find-names.php?
You can put in a name you like for 'inspiration' and it gives you other suggestions. Funnily enough, I put in a name that I like for this baby, and it came back with DS name as one of the suggestions!

That's my favorite too! I just can't get him to go for it yet. He just keeps shooting me down. He really likes trendy names. I just don't want to name my kids the same things as everyone else! But then again, when I named Kody, no one else was uses the name with any frequency, now there are 4 and 5 year old running around with it. So I guess you really can't predict what will be trendy. Unless you name your kid Thor.
I always wanted to name a girl after my grandmother too. DeEtta, said dee-etta. It a very rare unusual name that I have always loved. But he won't go for it either.
Please send me some good vibes for Emogen!!!!!!!!

Ohh... DeEtta is a really lovely name. I still like Emogen Plum better. I really like plum, I think it just sounds so cute.
Hmm... hopefully your SO will have a change of heart!
Ashley Nicole is a nice name, Not my style.... And my name is Samantha, I LOVE my name but I really hated being branded "Samantha M" in school, especially since my best friend was Caress... I was so envious that she was the only Caress. Maybe some kids wouldn't like having a unique name, but in my case, I always wished for one!

I'll be the lone voice of dissent here: Emogen sounds/looks like a drug name to me. Something psychiatric, maybe that would get your emotions regulated.
But I'm totally with you on being against Ashley and Nicole. So eighties!
Can you come up with some criteria to help us with suggestions? I get that you are after rare and unusual, but can you narrow it down? Literary/historical/geographical/musical...etc?

There is a common turkish name I really like that is close to Emogen. It is Emine (pronounced Emm in ay). You could still use the nickname Emmi.
It is really common for girls in Turkey but isn't common in the US.
