Anyone out there have experience with Brewer's Diet (http://www.blueribbonbaby.org)?

I bought myself a whiteboard today and made a checklist in permanent marker of all the things I should be eating daily/weekly. That way I can just check things off during the day and erase the checks before starting again in the morning.

I admit that it feels a little like I'm back on Weight Watchers. :) Except I don't have to count the d*mn points... ;)

I just checked out the blue ribbon baby website (Dr Brewer's website I guess) and read through it. His recommendations sound like the foundation to any healthy diet. You NEED fat all the time, especially when you're pregnant. (Good fat like from cheese not milky ways:p ) People have been so trained to think fat is bad and we're depriving our cells of the basic nutrient they need to function. Same thing with salt too. Every cell in your body needs it. Don't skimp. Best to get Celtic Sea Salt. It has the most potent level of iodine. Good luck with it.

Call me thick, but where is this diet? I don't see anything about a diet on that site.

Did you go to blueribbonbaby.com instead of .org?

Yeah, the site's not that intuitive. Here's the basic diet: http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/brewer-diet-checklists/brewer-diet-basic-plan-checklist/

Oooh, I didn't know they had a vegan plan! That's new! This is exciting. I just might use the checklist!

Holy moly, that's a lot of food...

Yeah - I haven't really come close to eating all of it in the two days I've been on it. Just focusing on the protein and veg aspect.

Yes, it is a lot of food. But it seems to be the right thing to eat. I was in a Bradley class with most of us moms sticking to the diet pretty closely and we all gained just 20 pounds.

And for myself, I had short, fast, easy labors with the bag of waters intact. Cool!

Thanks for updating the link. I was pretty darn confused with the previous one.

That seems like a very sensible eating plan. I like the way it can be incorporated into any already existing eating plan so you don't have huge changes. Right now my husband and I are eating 75 to 80% raw foods.
Avocados are the bestest!! I hate when people try to warn me that they have too much fat.

Fat-shmat. We love avocados around here, too. We'd eat more of them if we weren't trying to eat local (anyone know a Canadian avocado farmer?).

Alcyone - sorry about the original link. I'm only 4w 1d and I already have pregnancy brain!!

I stuck to the diet pretty close last pregnancy. I also just try hard to get in protien, veggies, and adaquate salt.
Right now I'm not hungry at all, whenever I think oh I could sit down and eat quite a bit I take a few bites and them am done. So I guess these first few weeks are going to be just a bit of a struggle to get enough good stuff in me. :)
